Mary Grant Press Event

Mary Grant copyLast night I was invited to the Mary Grant open evening press event at her first stand-alone store in Powerscourt Shopping Centre. It was a truly fabulous evening of bubbly and nibbles, chats and a whole lot of gorgeous fashion, which I shared with two of my most favourite bloggers & great friends Lorna Duffy of Fashion Boss and Kassi of Makeupartistas. Mary Grant is an Irish designer whose celebrating 21 years designing ready to wear pieces that boast romanticism, feminism and most importantly, Irish talent. Upon walking into the Boutique No. 2 store in Dublin’s Powerscourt Shopping Centre, it was an air of chitter-chatter, positive energy and true celebratory vibes. We were greeted by Fiona Hagan, the designer’s right-hand gal who offered the girls and I Prosecco (or non-alcoholic bubbly for any of us lovely ladies who were driving.) There was an entire table of nibbles to feast on as well as a vat jar of sweets, bowls of tortilla chips & glasses of pretzels; a spectacular set up of food & drinks for those post-work hunger blues. I wore my floral printed blazer from Soho Market with statement jewellery, all which will be detailed later in this week’s OTD post.

The fashion itself is a whole other story as there is quite the selection of styles and pieces to choose from. Mary Grant’s designs include artistically printed dresses in vibrant hues, styled with contrasting cardigans, belts and statement jewellery, soft woollen & knitted pieces for chilly evenings, colourful splashes and waterfall-cut hems and then romantic as can be lace & tulle that had me weak at the knees. I’m a sucker for bridalwear, and Mary Grant offers a fabulous selection of blush, white, cream & taupe pieces that would make any bride feel completely special on her big day. Kassi is in fact on the hunt for something to wear for a friend’s wedding, and needless to say she found true inspiration at last night’s launch. The decor of the store was also something to be in awe about; from the vintage style large mirrors, the pom-pom trims on the velvet curtains and oversized crystal tassels of the dressing rooms to the birdcage & faux floral centerpiece, the Oscar Wilde quote candles and the vintage wood furniture, it was every bit fabulous as it was classy & elegant.

We were also gifted with a gorgeous piece each, of our choice, to take home – which was more than generous by the Irish designer. I picked out this stunningly beautiful two-tiered tulle skirt in duck egg blue, which I cannot wait to wear. I do have a wedding to attend in Paris in May, so I may avail of this beauty for then! Lorna & Kassi both opted for the black strapless maxi dress with tulle skirt that they also look forward to wearing. We also received a Mary Grant press package that included the Spring/Summer 2015 catalogue, a DVD of the collection and an information sheet.

Many thanks to Mary Grant, her team, Fiona Hagan and the girls of Invoke PR for inviting me and putting on a mighty great evening.
