On Friday evening (September 11th) I attended the Creative Quarter fashion show as part of the Dublin Fashion Festival, which was held in the stunning Powerscourt Centre lobby where the café usually is. This is my second favourite event and show of the festival, and like last year’s show, it did not disappoint. The fashion hailed from the many boutiques and designers from the Powerscourt Centre, showcasing Irish designs and one of my favourite sections; bridal wear. The reception featured delicious passionfruit cocktails, beers and drinks from Pygmalion, attended by many of Ireland’s finest bloggers and VIPs, including 2015 Face of Dublin Fashion Festival, Pippa O’Connor. Rather than a traditional runway, for this year’s Creative Quarter show there were podium-like steps for the models to show off the pieces along with tunes from DJ Steve Cooper and plenty of flashing lights. I attended with my favourite gal pals Lorna and Kassi as well as bloggers Gail O’Connor, Alex & Teddy Coptil, one of my most favourite friends & fellow blogger Timi Ogunyemi and more of our friends! It was a truly fun affair, sipping cocktails, catching up and of course seeing some fabulous fashion. Later we headed to Gourmet Burger Kitchen, then to Pygmalion and finally in my beloved Dakota Bar. “Honey, I’m home!”
The fashion from the Creative Quarter show was brilliant. It was daring, it was beautiful, bold, sexy and striking, and then there was the bridal wear section. As many of you may know, I am a sucker for all things weddings, so this finale of the fashion show had me in absolute awe at all points. Some of the included designs came from Marion Cuddy, Mary Grant, Om Diva, De La Punc, Circus, Coco Boutique, Jenny Vanders, Dirty Fabulous, Lya Solis, The Loft Market, Jennifer Rothwell, French Connection, bridal wear from Ciara Bridal, Knightsbridge Bridal Rooms, Covet, Design Centre and De Stafford, along with menswear from Castle & Drury, Magee, Harlequin and Genius. It proved how fashionable our Dublin City stores are, and also how much Irish talent there is on our Emerald Isle. Jules Fallon and her 1st Option Models did a fantastic job, not only conquering the steps in high heels but also big dresses, for which many a time the audience applauded. Toni & Guy and Boots No.7 provided the hair and makeup respectively, not only for this show but for the whole festival’s shows, and they did a great job.
Many thanks to the Dublin Fashion & Dublin Town teams for all of their hard work, to Sadhbh and the Elevate PR team, Jules Fallon and all of the 1st Option models, the Dublin Fashion Festival volunteers, Naked Coconut Water, Pygmalion, Powerscourt Centre and everyone else who worked hard to make this another memorable night!
