On Monday night (January 2), the 28th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards 2017 took place in Palm Springs, California. Each year the festival also hosts the Awards Gala to celebrate a select variety of acting honorees, and this year’s recipients were a great group of influential actors across different genres of film. Although the turnout of attendees wasn’t so big, those who did looked beautiful and just has me itching for the 2017 Awards Season! Read on to see who has made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed List this year.
The Best Dressed
The pride of Ireland, Ruth Negga was easily the best dressed lady attending the film festival’s awards gala, smiling all evening while looking beautiful in a Valentino dress. The pale blue boho look featured sheer tulle with embroidery, sequins & beaded embellishments of floral and garden motifs all over. A plunging neckline with minimal accessories, the Irish-Ethiopian actress added same-designer heels, alongside a statement ring by Lucifer for Gemfields ring and a Judith Lieber clutch. Keeping her pixie cut curled and blown out, she added a soft berry lip with grey eyeshadow, kohl liner and a nude manicure to finish. Ruth Negga also was honored with the Rising Star Award for ‘Loving’!
Prints & Patterns
Red-haired beauty Amy Adams attended in a v-cut fitted gown by Altuzarra, that featured two different floral prints. Styled with Jimmy Choo shoes, Cartier jewellery and a Tyler Ellis clutch, this was a perfect look for the porcelain-skinned actress. Glamour wavy hair and minimal makeup rounded up her look beautifully. Amy Adams was also honored with the Chairman’s Award for ‘Arrival’.
Australian legend Nicole Kidman looked rather beautiful in her kooky drawn-on dress by Dior. The designer gown was a champagne hue with a polka dot tulle overlay skirt and a fitted bodice, that featured drawings of love hearts & wings, a kissing couple and stars all over. She added same-designer heels & clutch, with a gemstone & diamond pavé high necklace by Fred Leighton and of course an Omega watch. Her voluminous wavy hairstyle and red lipstick rounded up this awards attire perfectly.
Classic Black & White
Natalie Portman was a beauty in black as she walked the red carpet donning Dior, of course. It really is no surprise that the mama-to-be opted for this designer but she does always compliment every Dior gown she wears. The sheer black Commando undershirt add a touch of sexiness to the full-length black body and halterneck of the designer gown. The fluidity of the gown drapes over the pregnant actress so well that I honestly forgot for a second that she is expecting! A sleek updo, smokey eyes and nude lips with Steve Madden shoes, Tiffany & Co. jewellery and a Roger Vivier clutch completed her look. Natalie Portman was also honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award for ‘Jackie’.
Janelle Monaé always shows her love for black & white as she stepped out in a halterneck gown. The Jenny Peckham dress she donned featured a cinched waistband with structured design and black sheer panels that gave a glimpse of her Brian Atwood shoes. The brunette beauty added jewels by Jennifer Fisher and Swati with a striped Jimmy Choo clutch, and a tall updo to finish that also featured hair accessories within. Janelle Monaé was also honored with the Ensemble Performance Award for ‘Hidden Figures’, alongside her co-stars.
