Last night the 48th Annual Country Music Association Awards (CMA Awards) took place in Nashville, Tennesse and my what a fabulous turn out there was. Legends, newcomers, singers & bands, TV personalities and actors from all sorts of country music background gathered at the Bridgestone Arena for the annual celebration of all things country music. With multi award-winning singers Carrie Underwood & Brad Paisley hosting the show, and country being a personal favourite music genre of mine, I was more than excited to see who brought out all the stops to the red carpet. And it must be said that both the men and the women of the industries did fashion justice. So, who exactly made Killer Fashion’s Best Dressed list?
There was of course a lot of black dresses on the red carpet for the CMA Awards. Kicking things off, country singer and former The Voice contestant RaeLynn looked lovely in her black v-cut dress choice. Her custom-made Ani & Ari dress had a wrap over on the skirt with a train, that she teamed with platform barely there sandals, a little black clutch and red lipstick that compliment the young singer’s porcelain skin & matching white blonde hair.
Jennifer Nettles kept her cool in a sophisticated Christian Siriano gown. The luxurious silk faille dress featured a simple scooped neckline bodice and a ballgown skirt with pockets on the waist, which I adore. She didn’t add too much else, donning just a few sparkling cocktail rings, a chic updo and neutral makeup to finish. Beautiful!
Like her fellow The Voice songstress, Danielle Bradbery also arrived in black, donning a plunging fitted dress that showed off her body perfectly. Her dress by Jovani featured a nude mesh panel on the neckline that was very appropriate, as well as a cinched-in waistline and train, which she wore with a side braid, a bracelet harness and dramatic eye makeup.
Natalie Stovall attending in a leather bodice dress, with leather lace detailing and embellishments. Her mermaid fitted dress looked great on the country singer, which she styled with tight & voluminous curls, smoke eyes and a pink lipgloss.
Mama-to-be Natalia Starzynski looked fabuloys in her va va voom black choice. Attending with husband Dallas Davidson, the singer/songwriter wore a wide v-cut strapless silhouette dress that showed off her curves and accommodated her baby bump very easily.
Jessica Craig supported her country star husband Clay Walker, and was also in a beautiful black frock for the awards. She wore a silhouette dress that featured circular mesh netting on the bodice, shoulders and capped sleeves though was kept classy with a nude panel underneath. A voluminous hairstyle with top liner and thick lashes and a metallic leather clutch completed her look.
Frontwoman Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry looked beautiful in her LBD. A clean hourglass silhouette and a sweetheart neckline and mesh panel gave the singer a great shape, complete with floor-length skirt that ended in points, she styled the look with beachy hair, a tan suede clutch and white drop earrings. Gorgeous!
Top model Lily Aldridge was also in attendance, wearing a black custom Calvin Klein Collection long-sleeved tulle and silk cady gown, which was ever so sexy without much left to the imagination. Barely there sandals and extremely minimal accessories or styling helped achieve a sexy vibe without going overboard.
Embellishments weren’t left off the red carpet, despite Taylor Swift not attending. In fact, Faith Hill actually blew me away in her Naeem Khan look. The legendary singer wore a metallic chevron-beaded gown that feaured a large black bow on the bust and a Watteau-style at the back. A freshly cropped hairstyle, red lipstick and exaggerated eyeliner completed her flawless look. Hands down, one of the best looks!
Katie Armiger also donned a black and embellished look, wearing Bariano. Her metallic embellished bodice complimented the column gown with its clean-cut silhouette and halterneck, that Katie teamed with a minaudière, a dark red lipstick, large lashes and updo with curled bangs.
Kellie Pickler attended in quite the peekaboo gown, turning heads in a navy cap-sleeved gown by Johnathan Kayne. The gown featured architectural constructed velvet panels with Swarovski beaded designs between sheer mesh, a plunging and high scooped neckline. Tacori jewels and a contrasting Swarovski silver crystal clutch helped accessorise her look, with which she wore a slicked back hairstyle and silver eye makeup that really made her pop.
Young Cassadee Pope looked gorgeous in her Aidan Mattox gown with its black bodice and metallic pewter pleated ballgown skirt. I really love how she simply styled it with a Stella & Dot statement necklace, a chic updo and blackened eyemakeup. It’s just perfect!
Nashville country star and Australian native Clare Bowen definitely pulled out the stops in her monochrome Haute Hippie princess ballgown. Her bodice featured floral applique while the tulle sequin skirt added that fairytale feel without being cliché. A voluminous updo, black patent platform heels and mini clutch completed her look perfectly.
Nashville co-star Aubrey Peeples was one of the only on the night to opt for a two-piece, wearing a crop top and high-waisted full length skirt. Her white waterfall crop cut top complimented the fully embellished bottom-half of her outfit, which had an ode to rock & roll about it. A jewel-shaped clutch, leather cuff bracelet were styled for the look, along with her long & dark hair and kohl-rimmed eyes.
At the other end of the embellished spectrum, Nicole Kidman was an absolutely beautiful sight for the awards. The Australian actress attended with husband & country singer Keith Urban, but she definitely stole the show in her Roberto Cavalli dress. The romantic white embroidered gown was quite boho and worked perfectly with her mermaid waves and Fred Leighton jewels, and I just love this look so much!
Miranda Lambert wowed on the red carpet too, donning a blush-pink chiffon gown by Bibhu Mohapatra. Though the dress itself doesn’t feature embellishments, there was plenty of sparkle avec Lorraine Schwartz and an Emm Kuo clutch. Old Hollywood waves and a dark raspberry lip added to the finishing touches. Miranda also won big on the night, taking home Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year with Keith Urban!
Jana Kramer wore an embellished Badgley Mischka corseted gown that featured a constructed bustier in pink lurex and turquoise textured floral brocade. Dionea Orcini earrings, matching Badgley Mischka sandals, smouldering makeup and sideswept mermaid waves completed her look.
Hostess for the evening Carrie Underwood wore a Lorena Sarbu waterfall-cut dress. The custom-made choice featured fully beaded gold ombré embellishments with a sweetheart neckline that concealed her baby bump rather well. Big lashes, and sideswept curls finished off her red carpet attire.
Kacey Musgraves wore a pink Oscar de la Renta column gown. The late designer was honoured well with this embroidered & embellished dress with a square sheer panel. Unfortunately that cannot be said about Kacey’s hairstyle…which was an oversized bouffant that resembles Dolly Parton and reminds me of 1980s Cher…oh dearie me!
Ashley Monroe looked fabulous in her completely mirror-embellished high neck mini dress. The leggy songstress wore black barely there sandals, an old school country bouffant with mid parting bangs, an glittering clutch and exaggerated cat eyes.
A Splash of Colour
Colourful dresses were also gracing the CMAs, and Lucy Hale stunned in a Romona Keveza slinky red mermaid gown. The silhouette dress worked very well in Lucy’s favour, with which the Pretty Little Liars’ actress wore a cntrasting black belt, held a fringed silver & black clutch, and styled her hair in soft waves with a dash of red lipstick. Gorgeous!
Nashville star Connie Britton looked fab in her Naeem Khan mini dress, which featured three-quarter sleeves and an above the knee cut. Intricate threadwork detailing on the yoke and skirt of the seagreen overlay along with a sweetheart slip dress. She wore gold Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals and her curled hair.
Like Connie Britton, Meghan Linsey wore a seagreen plunging neckline gown, made of shimmering knit that also featured an thigh high mid split. I adore this look on the Steel Magnolia singer, which her peroxide blonde hair compliments beautifully. A dark red lip, top eyeliner, embellished sandals and clutch completed the full look too.
Kimberly Williams-Paisley wore a beautifully royal blue Romona Keveza gown that featured embroidered lace, a side slit and low squared neckline. Supporting her husband and host for the evening Brad Paisley, the Nashville actress she styled with Jimmy Choo sandals and a sapphire statement necklace.
‘All About That Bass’ singer Meghan Trainor debuted at the CMAs in a royal blue lace cocktail dress that worked for her curves to a tee. She styled her look with an embellished silver clutch, glitter-covered pumps and her long blonde locks.
Nicolle Galyon was a fresh splash of colour in pink & blue, wearing a summery floral printed plunging dress. Although the nature of her dress seemed like the wrong season, she styled her look with oversized diamond drop earrings & a bracelet, a Saint Laurent monogram silver clutch with mermaid waves to finish.
Ruby Aldridge joined her sister on the red carpet in a bright & beautiful yellow embellished gown. Her plunging gown featured half-sleeves and a train which she wore with pale pink matte lipstick and brown smokey eyes. I quite love this look for the young model.
Nashville actress Chaley Rose looked beautiful in her silver wide-v gown that featured a slight baroque pattern and gemstone trims, that matched her gemstone straps at the back. Her fro was a gorgeous caramel blonde colour that complimented her gold smokey eye, nude lip and red manicure perfectly. Though the look was rather boobalicious, Chaley looks fantastic!
