As you know, I flew off to Tenerife for the whole of last week with one of my best friends Caoimhe. This was my first holiday that I self-paid for out of money I earned, and also my first girls holiday, and my first time to Spain! Naturally I was stoked to be heading to the sunny Canary Islands, especially to wear my new bikinis, sandals every day, drinking cocktails, dinner by the seafront, swimming and tanning! And a Killer Fashion holiday wouldn’t be complete with some killer fashion and so here’s my holiday diary of what I wore, plus details of where we stayed & my recommendations of what’s good if visiting South Tenerife.
Day One
By Night: As we arrived late on the Sunday evening, we headed out for dinner and a ramble around the area to get to know our location better. For dinner I wore my Hello Kitty Nautical Stripe Dress, Glitz N Pieces Dazzling Diamond Necklace, bracelets by Adele Marie & Jasper Jewellery, Barratts White Strappy Sandals and borrowed Caoimhe’s New Look Denim Jacket. I adore all of these pieces separately and they really work brilliantly together! I must invest in a light denim jacket myself, can’t always borrow from my bestie!
Day Two
By Day: I wore my brand new bikini from Dunnes Stores, which is the Wild Underwired Bikini Top & Tie Front Hipster Bikini Bottoms in Purple with my new Marks & Spencer Pure Cotton Embroidered Shorts and my new River Island Green Tropical Print Mesh Stripe T-shirtto the pool the first morning in Tenerife. As a D+ cup sized gal, this bikini was comfortable to wear, with a clip fastening at the back and a lovely floral print design. The shorts were a great addition for walking around on the beach later and staying a bit more covered, though I did suntan & swim most of the day.
By Night: In the evening I wore an ASOS Bandeau Crop with my Miss Selfridge Faux Leather A-Line Skirt and this gorgeous Cherry Koko Floral Printed Blazer from SOHO Market. I teamed the look with a side braid, my River Island Body Chain, Adele Marie jewellery & my beloved Michael Kors Gold Parker Watch.
Day Three
By Day: For the third day I wore a Marks & Spencer Faux Snakeskin Print Bandeau Bikini. This is the same bikini from my June Wishlist post, so it’s one to tick off the list too. It’s a comfortable bikini with a detachable halterneck strap, that I wore with the aforementioned simplistic gold River Island Body Chain & Tropical Print T-shirt and my Marks & Spencer shorts. I just adore this body chain, I have always wanted one!
By Night: In the evening I wore the ASOS Bandeau Crop with Floral Printed High-waisted Harem Pants from SOHO Market with a Lepel Silk Robe. Although the robe is rather shiny, it works best tied up, and does look better in person than the photo.
Day Four
By Day: I wore my Lilac Bejewelled Halter Bikini on the fourth day, which is a flattering bikini in a lovely lilac shade. Its halterneck strap means i can wear it crossed over or simply tied at the back of the neck, whichever is more comfortable. I wore this with my new Dunnes Stores Embroidered Kaftan for that decorum coverup. I love the style and detailing of the kaftan, which is at an affordable price too. I wore my Bvlgari Diva Square Sunglasses most days too.
By Night: The outfit I wore that evening, I was really excited about! I finally got to wear my Dancing Dolls ACID Major Skater Skirt, which I was sent to review last month (you can read its review here). I wore this with a Floral Balcony Bodysuit, the green & gold inset Adele Marie bangle and my vintage gold collar necklace. This skirt & bodysuit look worked so well, especially as the colours compliment each other so well. Thanks again to Dancing Dolls for this beautiful skirt!
Day Five
By Night: I know it’s awful to outfit repeat, but I didn’t actually bring as many clothes as I clearly should have! On this evening I wore the ASOS Bandeau Crop with the Floral Printed High-waisted Harem Pants from SOHO Market again, but swapped the robe for Caoimhe’s denim jacket. I also wore my Glitz N Pieces Lake Sunset Bib Necklace, which was one of its first outings. Love it! Also, my new ALDO Cormack Handbag, which I like to think was Karma being good to me, (read here why…!)
Day Six
By Night: For our last night I dressed up big time and wore my beloved Rare London Chiffon Hi Lo Dress With Chain Back in Nude. I adore this dress and haven’t worn it too often, so I was delighted to wear it out in Tenerife. On this evening Caoimhe & I watched the sunset on the beach with a glass of vino…it was perfect! The right way to say farewell to the holiday. I wore the dress with my Penneys Statement Necklace, Adele Marie earrings & bracelets and Michael Kors watch.
Tenerife Details
We flew via Ryanair (4 hours each way), and we stayed at the Los Olivos Beach Resort, in Playa de la Américas. The studio apartment we had was perfect for a pair of girlies with a lot of wardrobe space, an oversized mirror in the bathroom and decent bathroom facilities, twin beds, a sofa bed and coffee table, a fully functioning kitchenette including a fridge, hob & oven, microwave, pots & pans, delph, glassware and a balcony with four chairs & table. The resort itself has four pool areas with a café bar (open 10am-6pm) at the main pool, and the restaurant between two others, which is where we ate breakfast one of the mornings. The former pool is better for swimming and also has mattress beds for relaxing, though the other pools tend to be quieter areas with more trees & plants, and all areas have sun chairs. Public Wifi only works at the pool bar, in the hotel reception and the lounge room, though still rather dodgy connections. Book your holiday now at Ryanair & Booking.com!
Recommendations
As this was a more relaxing sun holiday, good restaurants & bars were vital to find though nightclubs weren’t a priority.
Blue Cactus, Calle Valencia, 38670 Adeje: This was our “local” for the week, we ended up here every night and became good friends with the staff! The food is delicious here, there’s a vast variety to choose from their menu, and cocktails are very reasonable in both size & price. There’s a live band every night, as well as live singers on alternating nights.
Tried & Tested: Beef & Chicken Fajitas, Fillet of Beef with Red Wine Sauce, Garlic Bread with Cheese, Prawns in Sweet & Sour Sauce, Salsiccia Piccante Pizza (18″), Banana Split, Mai Tai cocktail, Blue Hawaii cocktail, 1L Champagne Sangria
(Can’t remember the name!), Calle Paris, Playa Fañabé, 38660 Adeje: This restaurant is on the promenade of Playa de Fañabé, and it’s easy to get a table looking out onto the sea. Our first night we dined here and had to dive straight into Spanish Paella, which was beyond delicious! The staff was friendly and we returned on one of our last nights for dinner too.
Tried & Tested: Chicken Paella, Calzone Pizza, Bahama Mama cocktail, Zombie cocktail
La Brasserie Grill & Pizzeria, Playa Fañabé, 38660 Adeje: Similar to the previous restaurant, this Pizzeria & Grill House has a sea view and delicious food with reasonable prices and portion sizes.
Tried & Tested: Tropical Pizza (16″), Rossini Rosé cocktail
Martini Restaurant, Calle Londres, Playa Fañabé, 38660 Adeje: This restaurant was a perfect stop for lunch during the week. It’s atop the hill by Fañabe, so we had a table in the corner that looked out at the entire beach strip. The main dish was really delicious, though a tad pricier than others in the area, though the desserts weren’t spectacular. Martini is also an award-winning restaurant by TripAdvisor 2014.
Tried & Tested: Salmon, Dill & Asparagus Risotto, Homemade Panna Cotta
Pool Bar Los Olivos: The pool bar at the resort is brilliant for food & drinks. We had brunch and lunch here most days, as their menus have such a variety. The sandwiches and all day breakfasts are great value, and the bacon is so good! Happy hour is from 3-6pm, with discounts on cocktails and 2 for 1 on beer & wine.
Tried & Tested: Full Breakfast (bacon, sausage, eggs, beans & toast), Prawn Cocktail sandwich, Chicken Mayonnaise sandwich, Bacon & Fried Egg sandwich, White Wine, Cocktail de Champagne cocktail, Piña Colada cocktail, Zombie cocktail.
The Moonlight Bar, Torviscas, Costa Adeje: This English pub is across from the aforementioned Martini Restaurant, and one of the most lively bars in the area. It’s open later than most other bars, serving cocktails, beers and other drinks til 3am. There is live music, comedy and karaoke every night, and shows most big sport matches live.
