I adore Jenny Packham’s designs, she’s one of my favourite fashion designers, and she really delivered with her Fall 2014 Ready To Wear, which she showcased yesterday at New York Fashion Week. Jenny Packham’s designs are always ethereal and feminine with sparkling detailing and luxurious materials, and this collection is all of that and then some. The collection features both bold and neutral colours, fully embellished dresses, bejewelled necklines and fitted cuts. There’s a number of starlets I can see wearing this Jenny Packham collection, but for now here are my favourites.
Cream, white, off-gold and pure gold were all present at the unveiling, many with full embellishments, whereas some stood out with their respective & interesting choice of texture. Jenny Packham revealed that the overall collection was loosely based on Bianca Jagger. “Not what she wore, but how she wore it. Eclectic, with intelligence and wit,” the designer said backstage. Lady in Red/Pretty in Pink
Venturing into the berry hues, the collection also showed off some red, pink and coral-coloured showstoppers, in all lengths and cuts. Intricate neckline embellishment was a big part here, as well as the nude mesh adorned with all-over beading and creating illusion necklines. My favourite red dress was the silky evening dress, with ruffled capped sleeves and a thigh-high split, all accented by one golden brooch on the waist.
The Fall 2014 RTW collection also featured darker dresses, again with full embellishments and necklines, and statement detailing. I particularly am taken aback by the gorgeous midnight blue dress with the cut outs on the waist and gold cuffs & neckline detailing, but also the ball gown with its swirl patterned mesh bodice.
