Best Dressed at Emmy Awards 2015

On Sunday evening (September 20th), the annual 67th Primetime Emmy Awards 2015 took place in sunny Los Angeles, at the Microsoft Theater. It was a glorious day for the ceremony and the television & film industry came out in their many, looking absolutely flawless. The ceremony was hosted by Andy Samberg, one of my personal favourite comedians & actors, and he did one hell of a job! This was one of the best dressed red carpets we’ve seen for a few months, and by gosh I’m excited to reveal whose made this year’s list, but also congratulations to all the actors, producers, directors & production staff and more who won an Emmy Award of their own on the night. And so, without further ado, here is the Killer Fashion Best Dressed list for this year’s Emmys!

Emmys 2015

Best Dressed

At first look of Giuliana Rancic’s Emmys dress, I fell in love. Not only is she wearing one of my favourite styles, but the TV presenter is wearing one of the sweetest pink blush hues for the occasion. Wearing Ziad Nakad to the awards, G’s bead-embellished long sleeve & mermaid-finish dress featured an off-the-shoulder straight neckline was teamed with Forevermark jewellery and heels by Giuseppe Zanotti. And of course, her hair & makeup were absolutely flawless.

Teyonah Parris blew me away in her white & black dot-patterned strapless gown by Francesca Miranda. I absolutely adore that high-waisted diamanté waistband with that pleated bust, and the sweeping skirt. And then there’s Teyonah’s gorgeous hair, a Hollywood glamour style and finished up with Baccarat jewels & Stuart Weitzman heels.

Attending with beau Stephen Merchant, the stunning Christine Marzano sure turned heads in this cut out sheer, blue & black dress that she wore to the Emmys. Her glittering high neck gown was figure-hugging and sexy, showing off her body through the sheer dress but covering up with the periwinkle blue & black panels. Black ankle strap heels, a satin clutch and a soft pulled-back hairstyle completed Christine’s look.

Lady in Red

Making a fabulous statement entrance onto the Emmys red carpet, Niecy Nash attended in a breathtakingly beautiful Mark Zunino gown. The lace embellished & floral appliqué gown featured a wide-v neckline that hugged Niecy’s curves so beautifully. I’m actually in awe. A red clutch, curled hairstyle and neutral makeup rounded up her look perfectly.

Ariel Winter joined the red party in this stunning Romona Keveza strapless gown. The young Modern Family actress’ asymmetrical neckline and hourglass shaped dress were just beautiful on Ariel’s curves, and her black wavy hairstyle, silver diamond jewels and geometric paneled clutch were the perfect finishing touches. Oh how I love this look.

Laura Prepon had me in awe in her scarlet red & gold custom-made Christian Siriano gown. I love the regal feature of the bolero-style capelet with the sweetheart neckline of the dress, its ruched detail on the waist and the fishtail train skirt finish. The slightly messy updo and barely there makeup added to the look really nicely.

As you know I love a red dress, and Monica Baccarin’s choice to wear Reem Acra was everything. Her flowy dress featured a sheer lace panel on the bodice, with a deep sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves, as well as a thigh high split on the skirt. It quite reminds me of a Dita Von Teese or Burlesque-style gown, and I love it.

Zoe Kazan attended in a red & white halter dress by Miu Miu that featured an embellished neckline, and was gorgeous from head to toe. She also held a Miu Miu velvet clutch. The dress kaleidoscope stripe-patterned dress was a nice and fresh look for this red carpet, and that sparkling neckline is just the right amount of

Black Beauties

Charissa Thompson attended on the red carpet wearing a straight strapless gown by Michael Costello. It featured oversized white floral petal prints on a black body that she styled with Neil Lane jewels and Stuart Weitzman heels.

I love how sexy and yet classy Aubrey Plaza looked for the awards, wearing a deep v-cut half-sleeves and thigh-high slit dress by Alexandre Vauthier. The dress features tiny red glittering polka dots that glistened from all angles and really gave Aubrey that classy twist. Her bob haircut, minimal Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and black pointed pumps were the perfect finishing touches.

Actress Taraji P. Henson looked sexy in this Alexander Wang black dress. It featured a sweetheart neckline and upside-down triangular cut out, as well as silver chain straps and a sheer overlay on the skirt to add to the look. A straight hairstyle, exaggerated lashes and strong brows, this look was classic Taraji.

Modern Family actress and nominee Julie Bowen attended in a black mermaid gown by Georges Chakra Couture. The laser-cut neckline was a great twist to her dress, and I love that exaggerated fishtail skirt. She added Monica Vinader jewels and a Rauwolf clutch to her look.

Singer Lady Gaga wore an asymmetrical Brandon Maxwell dress for the red carpet. The sculpted panel on the side of her dress added to her usual quirkiness, but other than that Gaga kept this look very classy, even opting for “normal” style makeup with a metallic smokey eye and nude lips, this is one of my favourite Gaga looks.

Amy Poehler gave us a bit of skin in her cut out dress by Michael KorsHer stacked bangles, that fuss-free hairstyle and kohl-rimmed eyes rounded up her Emmys look. Is it me, or does Amy get younger with age?!

Amy’s BFF Tina Fey skipped the red carpet, but still wowed on stage presenting in a black & silver embellished panel dress by Antonio Berardi. The scooped neckline and that bodice panel added to the sophisticated look, which cinched in on Tina’s waist beautifully too.

White Hot

Nancy O’Dell wore a stunning white gown, that she designed herself with Evine Live. Her dress featured an asymmetrical one-shoulder strap with a sweetheart neckline, and a fold-over skirt and train, that showed off her gold strappy sandals, which matched the gold waistbelt on her dress too. Her beautiful blonde hair and that smile were all that were needed for this fabulous look.

Louise Roe has been the busiest lady during Fashion Week season, attending the Emmys in this white asymmetrical one-sleeve dress from Halston, which featured a stripe of gold embellishment down the sleeve. Always ahead of the trends, the stylist & presenter added a gold & cream Edie Parker clutch and glittering Stuart Weitzman sandals to the look, along with her straight styled bob.

Adding to the white hot trend, Tracey Edmonds wore this beautiful Kayat gown that featured a plunging neckline and all over bead embellishment, which resembled waterdrops and really added to the whole look. The pavé waistband was one hell of a sparkler, which complimented her mid split on the skirt that showed off her metallic cross-strap sandals by Stuart Weitzman, added to by her Jill Reno jewels.

Wearing an interesting choice to the awards, Nazanin Boniadi wore Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture on the red carpet. The one-sleeve dress featured a plunging neckline, and a nude sheer panel on the opposite side creating an invisible illusion that still looked very classy, which was accented with a cascading panel and a train skirt finish. I love the white Charlotte Olympia clutch with her Swarovski jewels too.

Gina Rodriguez is slowly but surely becoming a Killer Fashion red carpet favourite, and in this deep sweetheart & ruffled skirt gown you can understand why. Her Lorena Sarbu gown was embellished on the bodice too and delicately on the skirt’s overlay too, adding to the sweetness. She completed her look with heels by Stuart Weitzman, Forevermark jewellery and a gold leather clutch by Judith Leiber.

Opting for the femme suit, Tatiana Maslany wore this beautifully chic Bouchra Jarrar suit sans shirt, that was all sorts of sophisticated. She added Sophia Webster strappy heels and a black clutch to her look. Love it!

Young Emily Robinson looked very sweet in her high neck gown by Kayat. The embroidered white gown featured a slight waterfall cut trim and half-sleeves, and was all sorts of appropriate for the awards. The gold sandals and a ponytail hairstyle to finish were just perfect too.

Mermaids in Green & Blue

January Jones attended the Emmys in a teal green jumpsuit by Ulyana Sergeenko Couture. Giving us a nice surprise, the actress skipped the dress option for this onepiece, and what a piece it is! The deep sweetheart neckline, the draped detail from the waist over the trousers, the gold brooch to tie it altogether and the lack of accessories. A perfect look if you ask me.

Selenis Levya wore a beautiful plunging gown in true mermaid colours, wearing this sea green Pamela Rolland number. The Orange is the New Black actress’ gown featured dark embellishments along the neckline and trims that contrasted perfectly with the colours of the dress. A metal clutch, dark lip and minimal jewellery rounded up her look. Her hair & makeup were perfected by L’Oréal Paris.

Working a teal number, actress Laverne Cox walked the red carpet in a sides cut out Calvin Klein Collection halterneck. Joining her Orange is the New Black co-star, Laverne’s full length bodycon hugged her in all the right places, without being over the top. Fred Leighton jewels, yellow heels and a black clutch finished off this look perfectly.

Metallic Madness

Working a silver & gold look, Liz Hernandez took to the red carpet in this slinky full length dress, with a squared neckline and criss cross detail on the bodice. The fully sequin-clad dress also featured cut outs on the bodice for a little sexiness, with voluminous hair and minimal accessories.

Kerry Washington gave a lot of metallic goodness in this Marc Jacobs embellished look. It was rather chain-mail inspired, with a hint of Xena the Warrior Princess, as attention to detail in this midi frock was all in those embellishments & beading. The paillettes on the shoulders and Harry Winston jewels added more oomph, while her Casadei sandals, tucked-under hairstyle and soft makeup finish brought the look back to earth.

Although Modern Family actress Sofía Vergara looked beautiful, I was a tad bored with this strapless St. John bodycon dress. The metallic beaded dress did shine from all angles, and the slight fishtail skirt & train were a nice addition, but I was hoping for so much more from my favourite Colombian beauty. Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Giuseppe Zanotti heels, an off-red lip and long wavy hair rounded up her look.

Wearing a sexy bodycon dress, actress Christina Hendricks played to her curvy advantage in this stud-covered Naeem Khan longsleeve. The geometric design of the black & gold looked fabulous on Christina’s body, as though it was made just for her. I love the wide v-neckline and the Charlotte Olympia clutch addition, along with her strawberry blonde locks and pale pink-red lipstick. This is one winning look, she gives curvy girls such a great name!

Giving her maternity style some oomph, Cat Deeley attended the Emmys in a beautiful Monique Lhuillier v-cut number. The fully beaded bronze-gold slip dress was full length with a v-cut neckline, but with a slightly geometric design to it that hugged her baby bump beautifully. The presenter was truly all smiles, with a berry red lipstick, on the red carpet with husband Patrick Kielty, as she dazzled down the red carpet. She added a black Rauwolf clutch and jewellery by Norman Silverman to her look.

Pretty in Pink & Purple

Maisie Williams attended looking every bit “pretty in pink”, donning this strapless midi by Ermanno Scervino. Her strapless quilted dress featured pockets on the hips, and was the perfect combination of sweet & sassy as she upped the ante with fluffy ankle strap sandals from Topshop, rounding up her look with a sideswept wavy do and jewels by Kwiat.

Giving us quite something, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal wore this charcoal and fuchsia purple gown by Oscar de la Renta. The strapless sweetheart gown featured a classy design with a ruched charcoal bodice with an open back & tie and then a billowing full skirt from the waist in the most glorious of purple hues. She completed the look with Charlotte Olympia heels, Fred Leighton earrings & an arm cuff and is held a Ferragamo clutch, along with a messy curled do and off-pink lips.

Chef Sandra Lee opted for a vintage Thierry Mugler pale pink gown, which she revealed she got in London years ago. The dress featured architectural designs on the straps and bodice, with a slightly plunging neckline and a full skirt finish. It was very ball gown, it was very soft and it was still very Thierry Mugler. Soft wavy hair and drop earrings were the right stylings for this look.

Claire Danes wore a purple sequin dress by Prada, which features large silver chain details. The purple & navy striped sequin look featured a low scooped neckline and edgy chains for straps on the shoulders & around the waist, which was definitely an unexpected twist. She rounded it all off with Jimmy Choo heels, Cartier jewels and a Tyler Alexandra clutch.

Sunburst with Sunshine

June Ambrose attended the Emmys in a canary yellow strapless ball gown. Her Bibhu Mohapatra gown featured a folded-over sweetheart neckline that complimented the peplum detail on the waist, that fell into a full skirt in soft pleats. Her floral Brian Atwood platform sandals gave her extra height under the big dress, which she showed off on her social media for us to see. The flawless makeup & hairstyle rounded up her look.

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of Heidi Klum’s look, as many others aren’t. Kudos to her for stepping out of the box, as she definitely did so in this pale yellow Atelier Versace gown. The dress features a sheer netted body, with leaf-like embroidery on one side and then an asymmetrical ruffle-draped finish on the other… It’s all just a bit too much. Matching designer sandals and an array of rings, earrings and a neat hairstyle completed her Emmys attire.

Padma Lakshmi attended in an off-yellow strapless, clearly an awards trend for this season, wearing Romona Keveza. Her silky dress hugged the multi-talented beauty perfectly, with a ruched bodice & sweetheart neckline for some subtle sexiness. Drop earrings, red lips and tucked back hair were Padma’s finishing touches.

Also opting for sunny vibrance, Taylor Schilling gave us another lovely asymmetrical neckline addition to the red carpet fashion, in this Stella McCartney dress. The gathered dress was simple but sweet, with its cinched in waistline and ankle-grazing trapeze cut, that gave us a glimpse of her matching yellow sandals. A cute curled do, red lips and a pastel yellow clutch completed her look.

Beautiful in Blush

Stephanie Bauer looked all sorts of beautiful in this sweetheart gown by Project Runway Season 5 winner Leanne Marshall! Now that is what I like to see. Her gathered dress featured an overlap on the bodice and a sweeping skirt & train held up by spaghetti straps. Swarovski earrings and clutch completed the styling, and I love that half-back hairstyle Stephanie’s sporting. Beautiful!

Gwendoline Christie was also in attendance in a blushing nude printed gown by Giles. The sleeveless wrap dress gave an old Hollywood vibe, which the actress strengthened with her pin-up curls hairstyle and barely there makeup finish.

Looking beautiful, actress Emma Roberts joined the blush pink party in this Jenny Packham dress. The plunging neckline and textured finish are just beautiful, and the accented waistband just adds to her glamorously classy look. A Lee Savage  clutch and Martin KatzI jewellery to finish, but I must say; I am in love with that swideswept hairstyle, Emma’s flawless makeup and especially so the pink lipstick. Beautiful!

Jackie Cruz was also in attendance wearing a plunging satin gown, that also featured mid split on the skirt and a slight train. Her Christian Siriano dress was über sexy, although her full-fringed long mermaid waves, by Great Lengths USA, covered up rather well, hiding away anything overly sexy. Adding a structural gold clutch, a bodychain and torc necklace to her look, Jackie was all kinds of gorgeous on this red carpet.

Attending in support of her husband and Emmys host Andy Samberg, musician Joanna Newsom looked cute in her Delpozo blush dress. Her dress sure was an interesting one; featuring a rounded strapless neckline with a squared peplum panel from the waist and an embroidered & embellished 3D oval motif on the bodice, and an open-cut full skirt that showcased the peach-pink straight tulle skirt. Now that is what you call fashion art. The brunette beauty wore Charlotte Olympia heels and styled the look with a Lee Savage bag with jewellery by Butani and Irene Neuwirth. Gorgeous!

Rainbow Maker

Ellie Kemper wore a colourful gown by Naeem Khan. Her sleeveless number was a slight ombré style dress with its sequin embellishments and architechtural design. A slicked down & back hairstyle, minimal jewels and a black clutch rounded up her look.

Opting for a colourblock look, Judith Light wore Zac Posen to the awards. The navy silk shirt and high-waisted skirt design is quite the combo, as the latter features floral brocade in pinks & orange on a midnight blue body that definitely contrasts with the navy. Heavy eye makeup, a gold chain bracelet and a fuss-free hairstyle completed this Emmys look.

Going for a multicoloured column full length dress, actress Jamie Alexander attended wearing Armani Privé. Her fully embellished gown glistened from all angles in colours of red, purple, blue & green as the actress glided down the red carpet. She let the dress do all the talking, with a slicked back bob and minimal jewellery.

Wearing a classic red, black & white combination funny gal & actress Chelsea Peretti wore Gabriela Cadena to the awards. The sheer bodice and red floral appliqué added sexiness to this look, whereas the inverted scooped waistline draped down into a white body skirt with the same floral print and a mid split that showed off her ankle strap sandals. This busy but beautiful dress was styled with Sylva & Cie rings and H. Stern earrings.
