Our hands are so important, and with the Covid 19 pandemic, we are washing them thoroughly more often. But all of this hand washing results in dried out, rough skin. In addition, with covering up and staying indoors, our body’s skin can also dry out so it’s important to look after ourselves from top to toe. So, which five products are my go-to for rescuing my skin and getting back to my normal, soft skin?
1. CeraVe Moisturising Cream
Ever since I was introduced to CeraVe, I’ve sworn by them. This moisturising cream is just KING when it comes to repairing skin, keeping mine smooth and healthy. I’ve noticed huge, positive differences from badly dried underfeet, rough hands and flaky skin after only one use. You also only need the smallest amount as it spreads brilliantly. It’s excellent for daily use. Available at pharmacies including Lloyds Pharmacy, Meaghars and McCabes Pharmacy from €5.50-€17
The CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream (€6) is also excellent!
2. Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
This is my go-to when it comes to hand cream. It’s non-greasy and leaves your hands smooth while working its natural ingredients into your skin. Massage the cream into your nail bed and cuticles to really see its strength. This hand cream is also available in three limited edition scents: Wonderful Fig, Sweet Neroli and Tonic Citrus. Available at Clarins Ireland and select pharmacies, €22
3. Aveeno Daily Moisiturising Lotion
Great for adults, children and babies, Aveeno is a top-choice for keeping my skin on point. I love using this cream after showering. When you apply it in the morning, this moisturiser continues to keep skin soft and supple throughout the day thanks to its Prebiotic Colloidal Oatmeal. Available at SuperValu, McCabes Pharmacy and leading pharmacies & supermarkets, from €4.25
4. L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Petal-Soft Hand Cream
L’Occitane hand cream is probably one of the longest-used products in my house. I remember my Mam buying it years ago, and when it finally came to Ireland, she was delighted. A non-greasy hand cream, it really keeps hands soft and well moisturised, and comes in a range of different delightful scents too. Available at L’Occitane Ireland, €18
5. The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Overnight Manicure Butter
If you love body butter, then you’ll love this specialised manicure butter that’s an absolute hand (life) saver. True story: when my Mam was undergoing chemotherapy, her hands were destroyed; her skin shed like a snake’s and fingernails fell off, but THIS CREAM SAVED her hands! It completely soothed and repaired her skin. Available at The Body Shop in-store, £13
Bonus: Nivea Soft Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream
A nifty always-available go-to, Nivea’s star three-in-one cream is one I have to include! Just like L’Occitane and The Body Shop, Nivea was a brand my Mam swore by and for good reason. This cream does wonders for dry skin on hands, face & body, renourishing and softening within minutes. Available at SuperValu, Boots and leading pharmacies & supermarkets, from €3.60
