Last night (May 6) marked the annual MET Costume Gala 2019, my favourite red carpet of the year. Every year I look forward to the first Monday in May, because it means it’s time for the gala, which took place at its traditional venue of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, but with a pink carpet.
The MET Costume Gala always promises extravagant and extraordinary fashion moments, and this was no exception! This year’s theme of “Camp – Notes on Fashion” sure was an interesting one, while the 2019 co-chairs to the gala were Lady Gaga, Serena Williams, Harry Styles and Alessandro Michele. One of the biggest nights on the red carpet calendar, and one of the biggest nights in the fashion industry, attendees really dove into the fashion statements with a lot of pink too. So without further ado, read on to see who has topped this year’s Killer Fashion Best Dressed List from the MET Costume Gala 2019!
Killer Fashion Choice
I always look through the fashion archives as well as the most recent collections to find ‘the one’, and this The Blonds was the red carpet one for me. Each year I do try to choose a design and designer that adheres to the theme, and “Camp – Notes on Fashion“ was a fun one to play with. There was a group of different designers I thought of, but in the end, The Blonds are one of the main reasons I became interested in runway and designer fashion! Therefore for this year’s MET Costume Gala I have chosen this The Blonds Fall 2014 corset.
Firstly, I LOVE that it’s pink! The crushed velvet and sparkling embellishments drew me to this look instantly, while the plunge neckline and high cut of the bodysuit were well ahead of its time. The heavy embellishment is a big feature that I adore too, and then…there’s the cat. Yes, there’s a fully gemstone-cat head on the shoulder, truly perfect for the gala and this year’s theme. I would totally wear the pink boots with it, as well as the sheer black mac jacket from the runway from the second look below.
