This blog post is definitely a newbie to Killer Fashion, but I wanted to feature a fashion piece on the topic as this week marked the annual return of the world’s biggest music competition, Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Now in its 62nd year, notorious for cheesy music, kitschy gimmicks and dance moves, the Eurovision has always been good fun to watch with friends & family. This year’s semi finals however, I must admit I was impressed with the fashion many of the contestants wore, both male and female. The soirée took place in Kiev, Ukraine (winners of Eurovision 2016) with a theme to “Celebrate Diversity”, with a big stage, plenty of pyrotechnics and moving floor props but also very good vocals and songs too. One aspect of the show that really did take me by surprise were the stunning gowns, the makeup & hairstyles that truly had some contestants outshine the others. Take a look below at my favourite looks, my favourite songs, and this year’s finalists for the big show on Saturday, May 13th!
Killer Fashion Choice
If you don’t already know, music is one of my life’s necessities (why not check out Cookie FM, my lifestyle blog!). I also have the ability to sing, which I did for my school exams and via vlogs a long time ago… Stage presence is a big thing and very different to red carpet attire, therefore if I were a performer at the Eurovision representing Ireland, there’s no doubt I’d wear green. This Zuhair Murad SS17 Couture gown is the perfect fashion choice for such an occasion, and I love its features too; half-sheer lace, half-silk with delicate embroidery, and both with embellishments. What I also love is this asymmetrical neckline with the pointed one shoulder, that peplum detail into a full skirt and the thigh-leg split on the lace skirt. It’s such a showstopper!
