When it comes to fashion, I’m very much about quality and style, and I love to see what Swedish brand & Other Stories are a favourite, with their top-notch style to help women create their own fashion stories. The sister brand of H&M, their creative atelier studios in Paris and Stockholm each design diversified fashion collections to give us two styles each season, with a great attention to the details while keeping quality and affordable prices in mind for their customers. Earlier this month (October 18) I had a sneak peek at their Autumn/Winter 2016 collection as well as the brand new Spring/Summer 2017 collection, and both are rather something special! From glitzy dresses for the party season ahead, to lace and gorgeous accessories, and flirty florals, ruffles and luxe materials for the New Year, there was also their range of beauty & skincare, and delicious edibles from BlackSheep Foods. Trust me when I say, this is one brand that’s going to take us by storm.
“For us, this is a futuristic yet nostalgic season that speaks to women of today. Reinvented 60s inspired elements tell an elegant and eclectic story of the past, present and future.” – Philomène Tellaroli, Paris Designer, & Other Stories
For the Autumn/Winter 2016 collection entitled Tomorrowland, the concept for design was retro futurism with colourful patterns and prints, shiny embellishments and laser cut applications, completely inspired by the 1960s. The Paris Atelier designed this collection with minimal colours but plenty of textures, that’s sassy and sophisticated, making it the perfectly fun fashion for the party season, and especially so for all those Christmas parties & events. I’ve spotted a handful of pieces that will be perfect for all occasions, as well as office attire and weekends. With ateliers in Paris and Stockholm, & Other Stories has two design teams creating collections for the SS/17 season. Each atelier has its own expression and aesthetic, providing endless styling options for their fashion and beauty-loving audience. This season, the Paris Atelier introduces a feminine and extravagant collection, while the Stockholm Atelier presents tailoring that plays with volume and contrasts.
At the press event earlier this month, I was invited to take a look through the new designs and was treated to a lovely presentation of the new Spring/Summer 2017 collection in the impressive Marsh’s Library setting, down the road from the St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin. The Paris Atelier introduce Maximalist Joy, the new collection features flirty pinks mixed with rainbow pastels, floral prints and embroidery. Lace and silk materials are meshed together for sultry slip dresses and matching blouses, with bell sleeves and ruffle details back again for the new season, as well as a mix of knits and chunky accessories, and I really love the statement earrings this collection boasts. The bold & bright colour scheme for this line reflects the vision & Other Stories has for this eclectic universe of theirs.
On the other spectrum, the Stockholm Atelier have designed Renew Volumes, a minimalistic collection inspired by the 1930s and chic layering. Contemporary silhouettes that are big on volume and shape, as well as texture, the neutral tones are complimentary of all the pieces as well as the customer. Ribbons & belts accent the waistline and dropped shoulder details, with tailored finishes and some surprising vibrant colours too. The jewellery and accessories are subtle, with soft leather flats and boxy heels to give your look the option of dressing up or going casual.
The beauty looks inspire different expressions with having two different focus too; the Paris Atelier boasts looks on the eyes and lips, while the Stockholm Atelier prefers a sophisticated bronzed look. The products within the beauty & skincare range for Spring/Summer 2017 includes palettes for colour correction, face contour & eyeshadow, blushers and bronzers, lip balms and lipsticks, pencils for your brows, lips & eyes as well as fragrances, body scrubs, lotions & oils, hand creams, shower gels and candles too.
