Winter Wardrobe with Magee 1866

We women love a good Autumn/Winter wardrobe, and although it’s easy to opt for the typical black or camel coats, colour should always be embraced when working a new season. The temperatures are dropping (albeit the lovely sunshine we still have in Dublin – yay!), and cosy knitwear, big coats and the autumnal accessories are in full swing. Irish heritage brand Magee 1866 have celebrated turning 150 years, an astounding testament to their fashion contribution, and earlier this week (October 18) I was invited by the Temple Family to celebrate this sesquicentennial anniversary. The party was held in their Dublin flagship store at 21-22 South Anne Street, Dublin 2 that was the perfect location. Attended by many friends & family and press, it was a wonderful evening that honoured the Magee 1866 brand, their concept & history amidst the current Autumn/Winter range and the 150th Anniversary Collection. Check out the photos from the event at the bottom of this post.

Renowned for their expertise in fabric and design, Magee 1866 has a great reputation for their Donegal Tweed, where the 5th generation family owned and run business make their designs in the woven mills of their hometown. This also helps boast their products to be 100% Irish made, which includes the menswear, womenswear and accessories lines. Womenswear is one of their newest ventures, and it is as beautiful as the male equivalent. From beautiful bouclé wool coats to lambswool tweed capes, soft hues and vibrant styles, to textured cardigans and colourful kimono coats, there is a huge variety of high quality products that Magee 1866 has to offer us ladies. Not only will these pieces keep you warm, but the looks are also very fashionable, and their Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign really proves that a picture is worth a thousand words. Invest in gorgeous timeless blazers suitable for weddings and office attire, get cosy in luxurious scarves, hats & pashminas, and of course fight the winter winds in chic coats that represent character, heritage, style and elegance.

Killer Fashion’s Favourites

The Ards Biker Jacket is a gorgeous cropped biker jacket, that’s definitely different from its leather alternative. Made of a wool blend tweed with a geometric print in hues of pink & white and zip detailing that also features a rose Jacquard lining and an exclusive Liberty of London print panel. Perfect with any jeans & t-shirt ensemble as well as a leather look, or if teamed with an LBD it really can add to your new winter wardrobe. The Ards jacket is also available in a Yellow & Gold version. Available at €355

In perfect time for the colder season, the Bouclé Tweed Owenea Coat is a tailored fit outerwear that features a funnel neck in a luxurious navy & white twill tweed finish. Made of woven wool and mohair, this coat also features a detachable belt and concealed pockets with the exclusive Liberty of London printed panel on the inside. Suitable for both business and casual wear, this is a beautiful investment of Irish heritage. Available at €425

The Lily Herringbone Tweed Jacket & Corsage is easily one of my favourite pieces from the new collection, that’s truly perfect for Autumn. The deep berry colour had me in love at first sight, and the scooped front speaks femininity, for an effortlessly chic finish. A tailored fit, it also features side vents and pockets, made from the finest of herringbone fabrics where the raw fabric was washed in the River Eske, Donegal for that luxuriously soft handle result. This jacket also comes with a complimentary hand-knit contrasting corsage, making it ideal for races, weddings and occasionwear. As a bonus, Magee 1866 collaborated with Emily Jean Hats, an Irish milliner to create a matching beret hat with a large bow. Available at €379

Proving the brand knows what’s hot on the fashion scene, this Blue & Grey Clooney Cardigan Coat is quite the trendy piece with its blue & grey bouclé tweed. A coatigan that’s knee-length, features a detachable belt, pockets in a wrap style, this is one contemporary piece I’m totally on board with. Perfect for weekends, style it with more blues for pretty compliments or white & silver accents to make it pop. Available at €375

Jackets and blazers should always be staples in a woman’s wardrobe, so why not invest and opt for this colourful Alicia Herringbone Tweed & Velvet Pocket JacketBe bold in teal blue as this lambswool tweed jacket features the herringbone pattern with velvet trims on the pockets, and beautiful rose motif Jacquard lining. Whether you wear it at the office, for a more casual smart look or style up your white tee & blue jeans, this is such a beautiful investment piece that’s made with the finest materials. Similar to the Lily Jacket above, this piece also comes with a complimentary hand-knit contrasting corsage. The Alicia jacket is also available in a Camel version. Available at €350

In the past few Autumn/Winter seasons, we’ve seen the cape become popular again, and at the Grey Tweed Eske Cape is one of the most chic I’ve seen. Made of lambswool, this cape features a dark grey contrasting panel with fringed hems and a relaxed fit. Capes are great all-year long, but especially so when it’s getting colder as you can easily wrap up and head out. The Eske cape is also available in a Camel & Blue version. Available at €190
