Yves Saint Laurent: Vernis À Lèvres Vinyl Cream Autumn 2016 Look

Yves Saint Laurent: Vernis À Lèvres Vinyl Cream Autumn 2016 LookLast week (September 19) I was invited to Yves Saint Laurent for a masterclass with the brand’s European Makeup Artist Fred Létailléur, to discover their newest innovations from the Autumn 2016 ad campaign, Vernis À Lèvres Vinyl Cream featuring model Cara Delevingne. The event was the perfect pick-me-up and as you know, I adore YSL makeup, so it was an event that was truly meant to be. For the event, Irish model Roz Purcell was in attendance as the canvas for the new products, attended by fellow bloggers & media reps. Read on for a step by step of the products Fred used to create the look, along with some tips & tricks, and check out my photos at the bottom of the complete makeup look and the brand new products I received post-event too!

Top Secrets Expert Make-Up Remover Eyes & Lips – One of the newest products from the YSL Beauté Top Secrets range, this makeup remover will challenge any other product of its type, and win. It features a two-type formula that will remove makeup as well as refresh the skin, perfect before application and at the end of the day. Available at €29

Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow – A satin moisturizer that adds a little glow to your base, this is one of YSL’s newest but also best skincare products. It’s an ultra-lightweight moisturizer that’s bursting with hydration, for up to 72 hours. Happy days! Available at €40

Top Secrets Lip Perfector – One of the newest lip products by YSL, from their skincare range, this new lip balm replaces the previous Top Secrets Lip Re-Plumping Concentrate. It nourishes and softens lips, perfect to use before a full lip look. Available at €34

Fusion Ink Cushion Foundation – This is the brand new product from YSL, that will takeover on the beauty market. An updated version of their lightweight Fusion Foundation, the new innovation features a built-in cushion foundation that’s great for on-the-go application and touch ups, as it gives a medium coverage with a silky, flawless finish. Fred used the special YSL Touche Éclat Foundation Brush, and showed how easy it is to use the cushion foundation. The coverage was subtle but still visible makeup and created a beautiful base. Model Roz Purcell has amazing skin to start with, but the foundation helped even out her complexion and while leaving a natural finish. This foundation also offers refillable inserts, making it more of an eco-friendly product. Available at €41

Touché Éclat – As you well know, no look is complete without using the signature and iconic complexion highlighter pen. As a staple to any base makeup finish, Fred used Touche Éclat along the nose, on the T-zone and cupid’s bow, and around the under eye areas. It helped bring out the foundation, as well as create a glow to the base. I’ve seen many different ways of using Touche Éclat; dotting around the eye area, creating a correction tick shape, simply drawing a semi-circle beneath; and then I’ve seen various ways to blend by using fingertips, brushes and blenders; Fred used the aforementioned brush for this. Available at €35

Couture Contouring Palette – Introducing another new innovation by YSL, Fred showed off the Couture Contouring Palette, inspired by one of the biggest beauty trends this decade. The two-toned palette features a medium shadow and a smaller highlight colour, to create the perfect contour with a natural-looking shadow for more defined cheekbones. Fred used the taupe shade along the cheeks, nose, jaw line and around the temple & forehead, blending for definition. He then used the highlighter above those areas to accentuate. Fred is a professional, yet made it easy to replicate for us normal folk. Available at €47

Couture Palette Eye Contouring – Another new product to the beauty range, this eyeshadow palette is inspired by the contouring trend, for giving the perfect subtle smokey & nude eye look. A five-colour contour palette, it features both matte & metallic textures and hues that harmonizes with one another no matter which you choose to use. For the look, Fred opted for the warmer palette, creating a soft smokey eye. Available at €55

Couture Eye Marker – A strong makeup look is always in need of good eyeliner, and with the brand new Couture Eye Marker, that’s easily done. This thick marker rivals its competitors but with ease, as it features a sculpted tip, in a handy pen-size that makes it even more straightforward. As a big fan of the Eyeliner Effet Faux Shocking, I’m very intrigued by this new marker eyeliner YSL have released. Although Fred does show how simple it is to use, I find it’ll be that little bit more getting used to for us mere mortals, (okay maybe just me then!)Available at €29

Luxurious Mascara For Instant False Lash Effect – As you know, I love a good mascara and the re-mastered formula of this classic mascara creates a false lash effect in just one single stroke. If you want big, full eyelashes without the clumps then get to your nearest YSL counter and nab this one up. It’s a true triple threat, as it contains one coating film for intensity, one conditioning film for curve, and one fixing film for long-lasting effectiveness. And as with mascara, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle! Available at €32.50

Vernis À Lèvres Vinyl Cream Liquid Lipstick – The YSL lip product of the year goes to the brand new Vernis À Lèvres Vinyl Cream Liquid Lipstick. Not only is this a new range of highly pigmented liquid lipsticks in a range of gorgeous colours, it also creates an instant dramatic finish, with high gloss that’s creamy and long-lasting. And if you need more beauty tips on how to use this beauty of an innovation, Creative Director of YSL Beauté Lloyd Simmonds recommends “For day, it looks great with pared-down [on] minimal skin. Simply accessorize with the architecture of a strong brow and barely-there lashes. At night, add strong, graphic eyes with the Couture Eye Marker, as we did on Cara Delevingne. Either way, with colours as bold as these, it’s always going to create high impact that really lets lips do the talking.” Available at €33

Many thanks to Róisín of L’Oréal Paris Luxe for the invite and gifts. Big thanks to Fred Létailléur for his time and advice. Visit Yves Saint Laurent at Brown Thomas, Grafton Street or call 01-6171170 to book a consultation/makeup lesson
