Review: Paese Cosmetics Long Cover Fluid Foundation & Rice Powder*

At Killer Fashion, I’m always up for testing out new products and especially love to do so with those from brands I already know. I’m a fan of Paese Cosmetics, having used their nail polishes and really love them. This Polish brand makes it mark in Ireland, and deservingly so as their products are of high quality and made with natural materials. As you know I’m a keen individual when it comes to nail polish, lipstick and fragrances, but I also do enjoy wearing the ‘full face’ every now and then. Usually I stick to my guns and opt for my beloved YSL brand but I reckon I have found the affordable dupe for their foundation. Read on for my honest review on a base foundation that will last a long, long time on your face as well as your beauty shelf at a fraction of the designer price.

The foundation gives medium to full coverage, depending on your preference, that promises to cover imperfections and discolorations whilst providing a radiant and well-pigmented glow. Product: Paese Rice Powder

The Paese Rice Powder is a nifty product that absorbs excess oils before AND after foundation application. Rice Powder is refined starch made from rice, that is used to make all layers of makeup connect together for a natural effect. It has been used for centuries in the ancient art of Ayurveda, a holistic healing practice, that strengthens its purpose to be a soft focus effect in the invisibility of imperfections and wrinkles. Verdict: Paese Long Cover Fluid Foundation & Rice Powder – 5/5

From the first try, I love this foundation! At first I was a bit apprehensive about the texture as it is quite thick and creamy but once applied it’s completely the opposite as it blends onto the skin very easily and creates a smooth, thin layer. When I wear foundation, I always want to achieve an even and natural-looking finish, and have easily achieved that with the Long Cove Fluid Foundation. The applicator wand carries a reasonable amount of product that I apply to my face with three strokes per side, (kind of like cat whiskers!). Using my stippling foundation brush I blend over my cheeks, along my jaw line, chin, nose, forehead and eyes for a perfect finish every time. I haven’t looked ‘cakey’ and have received great compliments on the luminosity of this foundation too. The colour of my sample is Beige, and though I’d thought it would be too light, it surprisingly matches my skintone perfectly and adds more colour to the finished look. It gives brilliant coverage while still allowing my natural freckles to come through, and lasts all day & night. I have worn this at the beginning of a day, did my daily routine and then attended a party or event, without ever having to retouch my foundation. This Paese foundation really is so easy to apply and a little goes a long way, which is such a big plus. It’s a 30ml bottle, with a slight scent to its product that is also a tick in my books. As aforementioned, YSL is my usual go-to brand for beauty products and though I adore their range, their prices can be that tad bit too expensive. This Paese Cosmetics foundation is only €16.50, saving you over 50% of the designer bottle price, and is definitely my new budget buy!

I’ve also used the Paese Rice Powder, and am satisfied with its results. It is great for using after foundation, as I do prefer a more matte finish and with this powder that’s exactly what I get. The powder is a white, translucent one, that I’ve used as my setting powder for the last few weeks. The powder pot features a removable lid with holes in it, as well as a powder cushion and screw top lid to keep the powder secure when not in use. I use my powder brush instead of the cushion as I prefer it, though sometimes I apply with the cushion and blend out with the brush. I’ve only needed a small amount to cover your face, remove shine and set my makeup for the day. There’s so much powder in this pot, that it really is great value at €15!
