Gosh it seems like forever since I’ve written up a Best Dressed post, so thank goodness for last night’s MTV Video Music Awards 2016 (August 28), that were held at the iconic Madison Square Garden, New York City. As we all know, the fashion and the antics of the VMAs are infamous, and it excites us all to watch what will happen each year, whether we like to admit it or not. This year was a bit of a funny one, as no one specific host presented the show after last year’s Miley Cyrus takeover, but the production still promised us a great night of entertainment and award-giving. But first there is the red carpet glamour (okay white carpet), so let’s get on with it and reveal this year’s Killer Fashion Best Dressed List!
The Best Dressed
Is it any wonder that Queen B looked so goddess-like in this minty hue? Beyoncé wowed everyone as she stepped out in this ice queen-like gown by designer Francesco Scognamiglio that featured lines of sparkling gems & sequins on a sheer nude overlay with feather details. The exaggerated shoulders and corset-bodice were topped with a high neckpiece and wings that came out above her shoulders in a feathery flurry. She added During the show, Beyoncé also performed hit songs from her album “Lemonade”, which you can watch below. Beyoncé also won 7 VMAs on the night, including Breakthrough Long Form Video for ‘Lemonade’, Best Choreography for ‘Sorry’, Best Female Video for ‘Hold Up’, and Video of the Year for ‘Formation’. Congratulations Bey!
The Sassy Separates
Top model Joan Smalls attended in a sultry leather crop top and black flared trousers look by Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh for the MTV VMAs. The criss-cross neck added a bit of statement that worked well sans necklace, accented subtly by a Jennifer Fisher ring.
Attending with designer Jeremy Scott, model Stella Maxwell wore head-to-toe Moschino. The tall blonde showed off some skin in this cropped co-ordinates look, with flared trousers and features colourful Mexicana patterns with mirror embellishments & embroidery, teamed with matching platforms. I love that she opted for pink smokey eyes and soft pink lips, with a high ponytail and minimal accessories.
Ariana Grande wore a teeny tiny bardot bandeau, (what a thing to say), designed by Alexander Wang. The lace top was stled with high-waisted flared trousers and a thin choker. Dewy makeup with big lashes, minimal jewels and her signature ponytail rounded up her red carpet look. During the show, Ariana also performed “Side By Side” with Nicki Minaj, which you can watch below.
Golden Girls
Carly Aquinilo looked lovely in her nude champagne silk dress, with the wrap detail of the skirt, the relaxed bodice and the bow sash at the waist, which was beautifully teamed with nude barely there sandals and a foldover clutch. Upon presenting her with the aforementioned award, Drake confessed his love & pride to Riri during a very sweet speech after her epic performance. Watch Rihanna’s absolutely amazing performances below the gallery.

During the show, Nicki also performed “Side By Side” with Ariana Grande, which you can watch above.

Her VMAs debut, the Swedish singer easily looked the part in this black & teal velvet dress which featured a v-sweetheart neckline with off-the-shoulder puff sleeves and peplum detail on the waist. Black peeptoe ankle strap heels, wet look slicked back hair, emerald creeper earrings and a selection of rings this is one gorgeous finish. Just beautiful!
