At Killer Fashion, I love to explore new brands and learn about their products. So when I heard about the hype of James Read Tan and that I was invited to an exclusive luncheon, sure I jumped on board to learn all the new things! Yesterday (July 6), I attended the event and gosh was it lovely. We were treated to an intimate lunch in the always-gorgeous House Dublin, Leeson Street, where James Read gave us the 101 on his brand, alongside the lovely ladies of Callan & Co, Ballsbridge.
James Read himself created his tanning brand three years ago, after working in the beauty industry for 15 years. He came up with the concept of skincare combined with tanning, that has since been proven a big hit among stars, beauty enthusiasts and bloggers alike. Promising to deliver the quality of a professional tan at home, James Read Tan is available in four different areas of product, Self Tan, Gradual Tan, Overnight Tan and Enhance; with three award-winning products already in the bag. A luxury tan with gorgeous packaging, the James Read Tan collection is recognizable by its white & gold striped motifs, making for gorgeous packaging and ever the Insta-worthy photograph. At the event, I caught up with my blogger friends Mei Ling of Darling Buds of Mei, Kassi of Just Kassi, Jessika Banaghan of Chaos Wearing Lipgloss, and Kendra Becker & Emma Costello of Goss.ie, as we dined & chatted over delicious bites from House Dublin.
The newest product from the Gradual Tan collection is the H2O Tan Mist. Not only is this product extremely intriguing as it is a gradual tan with a clear finish, it was also most recently awarded ‘The Fool Proof Fake Tan’ at the Grazia Beauty Awards 2016! A lightweight spray that is made up of 96% pure rose-water to give its floral scent, it doubles up as a primer & setting spray too, while gradually building up a natural glow to your face & skin. It’s great to use over makeup and moisturizer, and can help you cool down with its cooling effect that is colourless and stain-free. The benefits of the H2O Tan Mist means you can gradually build a deeper tan with each application, allowing you to control your depth of colour, and the rose-water within the formula works to help reverse signs of ageing, as well as feature vitamins & minerals that provide a refreshing boost to the skin’s hydration system. H2O Tan Mist is available at €27.95
In addition the aforementioned mist, a firm favourite of the Gradual Tan collection is the Day Tan SPF15 Face. Evident of the James Read Tan concept of merging skincare & tanning, this product is a hybrid that offers a natural & gradual tan with skin hydration and sun protection. Suitable for all skin tones, it can be combined with or used solely as your daily moisturizer to build up a light, sun-kissed colour with the benefits of an SPF15 cream. Day Tan SPF15 Face is available at €29.95
Day Tan Body is a straight-up, over-time tanning product from the Gradual Tan collection. If you’re after a soothing cream formula tan, then this is the one for you. The Day Tan Body offers a natural progression of a tan building up over time that is enriched with beautifying skincare ingredients, formulated to deliver a moisturized but firmed, hydrated and regenerated subtle glow. Already it sounds divine! Day Tan Body is available at €39.95
The Extending Sleep Serum is the newest and a great product from the Overnight Tan collection. This little bottle does exactly what it says on the tin, where it helps extend the longevity of your tan, as well as providing a soothing, anti-ageing and moisturising treatment while regenerating the skin’s natural melanin (a.k.a. your skin’s pigmentation). It’s also a nifty product as it’s enriched with Aloe Vera, Tea Leaf Extract and Hyaluronic Acid, to give your skin some lovely TLC, that can be applied to not only the skin but also your face, neck & décolleté. Ideally this is to be applied on during your nighttime regime for best results. Extending Sleep Serum is available at €39.95
James Read Tan is available online and in-store at Callan & Co, Ballsbridge from €8.95
A big thank you to James Read and to Paula and Claire of Callan & Co for their time and the generous gifts, to Susan & Rebecca of Burrell PR for the organisation and to the staff at House Dublin for the tasty food!
