On Sunday evening (June 12), the 70th annual Tony Awards 2016 took place in The Beacon Theatre, New York City. On one of the most beautifully decorated red carpets, stars from across the acting industry attended the summer soirée, that honours America’s finest in theatre production. The red roses backdrop matched the carpet perfectly, and the ladies & gents gave us a great fashion pre-show before the ceremony, that was hosted by James Corden. So, let’s take a look at this year’s Killer Fashion Best Dressed List at the Tony Awards!
The Best Dressed
Keltie Knight attended the awards in a stunning silk gown by Walter Mendez. The presenter’s look featured a plunging neckline with twisted straps and an open back, as well as a thigh-high leg split that showed off her tall lace up Stuart Weitzman sandals. I love the pale pink hue of this against Keltie’s skin tone, that she was beautifully highlighted with shimmering rose gold makeup, accented by drop pavé earrings & a cocktail ring both by Michael John Jewelry. Keltie’s really looked fabulous and I adore this look for a summer soirée.
Lady in Red
Only two weeks post-baby, Keri Russell looked ravishing wearing this red gown by Monique Lhuillier. Her plunging long-sleeved look featured sparkling floral embellishments on the shoulder, sleeve cuffs and at the back, with odd cut outs on the armpits. The dress features buttons down the middle to its thigh-high skirt cut that showed off her black pumps. Her awards attire was styled with a box clutch, silver drop earrings and a chic up do with red lipstick to finish.
Singer Lena Hall also chose red for the occasion, looking fabulous in her dark red Zac Posen choice. The strapless gown featured a double neckline with a sweetheart insert behind and a v-cut on the fitted bodice, with a subtle trumpet skirt finish and a slight train. The porcelain-skinned brunette styled her hair into sleek chignon with stunning Forevermark Diamonds earrings, exaggerated lashes, rouge cheeks and red lipstick.
Beth Behrs opted for a lovely midi tea dress that featured a sweetheart body with a lattice overlay finish. Designed by Marchesa, it also featured the signature appliqué on the shoulders, bodice and skirt with an embellished thin waistband. Her raspberry pink lipstick and sleek updo, complete with silver strap sandals & Hearts on Fire jewels were the perfect finishing touches for the actress.
Jane Krakowski was an absolute sight on the red carpet as she looked fabulous in her Michael Kors dress. The wide-v neckline was a nude sheer body with all-over velvet floral design that was beautiful against the blonde actress’ skin tone. Her sleeveless look was teamed with a silver cocktail ring, silver smokey eyes, a mid-parted straight hairstyle and a dark nude pink lipstick.
Going for scarlet red, Michelle Laura Kelly had fun on the red carpet in her gown by Zac Posen. The brunette beauty’s mermaid dress also featured the designer’s unique double neckline with an insert detail, as well as quirky peplum detail from the waist to the knees and a fishtail skirt finish. With curly hair, glamorous makeup and a soft nude lip gloss finish, this was one fashionable and definite winning look for me.
Black Beauties
Megan Hilty opted for the ball gown as she attended the awards in this strapless Matthew Christopher creation. The v-cut dress featured wrap detail on the bodice with a quadruple tiered skirt finish and train that sure was a statement in itself. Tiffany & Co. jewellery and an oval mixed wood Amina al Abbasi clutch accessorized the look, with classic eyeliner & red lipstick to finish.
Actress Judith Light worked the red carpet in this black jumpsuit look by Ralph Rucci. It featured a high neck sheer black upper & sleeves, with an inverted scoop neckline on the bodice, straight legs and a satin wrap waist that fell into a train. Her red feather purse by Anthony Luciano added to the statement look, that she finished with jewels by Verdura including a star brooch on the waist & earrings, black pumps and a wispy updo with smokey eyes & nude lips.
Attending in black, Marlee Matlin attended the awards in this beautiful open back black gown by Jovani. Her high neck was embellished with sparkling pavé gems that matched the cuffs, in a fitted train full-length dress that was all sorts of classic glamour. She added silver, gold & amethyst stone jewellery by Erica Courtney, with heels by Stuart Weitzman and a gold box clutch too, rounding up her look with an updo, exaggerated lashes, classic eyeliner and a nude pink lipstick. Just beautiful!

With exceptional jewellery by Peter Pilotto for Swarovski Atelier, Miu Miu heels and an Edie Parker clutch, the brunette beauty opted for a berry lipstick, and a sleek bob hairstyle.
Singer Leona Lewis is making quite the many red carpet appearances lately, and I’m loving her chic black dress by Nili Lotan. The silk cami gown featured distress marks around the skirt trim that she simply wore with black sandals, and a statement choker necklace by Lorraine Schwartz. A sleek straight hairstyle with red lipstick rounded up her look. Click her to buy Leona’s dress!
White Hot
Laura Osnes was a beautiful sight as she graced the red carpet in this Catherine Deane gown. The white v-cut sleeveless featured silver beading & embellishments down the dress with soft tulle pleating on the skirt for a vintage style. Her bouffant ponytail was a perfect style for the look, completed with Stuart Weitzman heels and delicate jewellery by NIQUEA.D.
Actress Michelle Williams looked beautiful in her white dress by Louis Vuitton. The blonde beauty donned a v-cut sleeveless look that fetaured ruched detail along the sides with a front mid slit on the skirt and black spaghetti straps, that matched her strap sandals, box clutch and cuff bracelet too. With a chic pixie cut, classic eyeliner and a deep red lipstick, the actress nailed this red carpet look. Also, how Marilyn Monroe does Michelle look! It’s rather uncanny, both beautiful women.
Opting for a jumpsuit look, actress Allison Williams attended the awards in this white look by DKNY. The blazer jumpsuit featured an elongated lapel on one side, creating a half-dress half-suit kind of look. Styled with black peeptoe platforms and a grey clutch, the brunette completed with Jennifer Meyer jewellery, soft smokey eyes & nude lipstick.

Actress Heather Headley attended in a gorgeous sleeveless gown by Badgley Mischka Couture. The jacquard gown featured abstract yellow & white textures with an embellished waistband to match her dazzling same-designer pavé strappy sandals. With stunning gold & purple Fred Leighton jewellery and colourful makeup to complete, the brunette beauty looked all sorts of beautiful.
Renée Elise Goldsberry walked the red carpet in a purple & black Marc Jacobs dress (below), but during her performance the actress switched into this pale yellow gown by Oscar de la Renta. The strapless look featured black floral appliqué and a ball gown skirt finish with a slight waterfall hem. Renée Elise Goldsberry also won the Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for ‘Hamilton’ and Best Musical for ‘Hamilton’ alongside the production & cast members.
A flash of sunshine, Danai Gurira looked great on the red carpet in her custom-made Rosie Assoulin v-cut gown, that featured a cut out under the bust with a deep-pleated waterfall skirt trim. The actress added Rosie Assoulin for Paul Andrew midnight blue pumps with a contrasting purple clutch by Roger Vivier and jewels from Fred Leighton. With a matching purple lip colour and her Afro in a stylish hairstyle, this was a great look for the Tony Awards.
Latina beaut Thalia looked absolutely magnificent in her strapless gown from Lucia Rodriguez. The custom-made ochre dress featured a fold-over on the sweetheart bust with a fitted bodice and double tiered fishtail skirt finish, accented by a dark gold-embroidered waistbelt design. A stunning drop necklace, earrings & bracelets with heels, all by Thalia Sodi Collection, completed her accessories, teamed with a half-up half-down hairstyle, smokey eyes & nude lipstick were the perfect finishing touches for this red carpet moment.
Lucy Liu was one of my favourite looks on the night, wearing one of Killer Fashion’s favourite designers, as she looked fabulous in this pastel yellow Zuhair Murad Couture. The halterneck dress featured a plunging neckline with a fitted waistband and floral & gemstone embellishments around the bust and bodice. Teaming her summer look with gold sandals by Charlotte Olympia as well as Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and a Tyler Alexandra clutch, she rounded up her look with a straight hairstyle, classic eyeliner and nude lips.

Singer Sara Bareilles attended the awards in a lovely gown by Gomez-Gracia. The champagne-coloured dress featured a sheer upper and short sleeves with sequin-embellished trims and a fully sequin-clad bodice, and a soft pleated skirt. I love her braided crown & mermaid waves hairstyle, complimented by simple jewellery and flawless makeup.
Irish actress Saoirse Ronan was in attendance at the Tony Awards in a nude Stella McCartney fitted dress. It featured a scooped v-neckline with a small triangular cut out on the midriff and a subtle fishtail skirt finish, that she styled with bronze open toe platforms. Her simple look was finished with delicate jewellery by Jennifer Fisher, a sweeping updo, classic eyeliner and fresh-faced makeup with pink lips.
Zainab Jah looked great attending the awards, as she stepped out in this strapless champagne hue by Randi Rahm. The gown featured a tulle overlay that popped over the straight neckline with sparkling gold & silver bead embellishments on the bodice. She upped the ante with more sparkles around her neck and off her ears from Oscar Heyman and added a Marian Paquette bag to her look. Gorgeous!

Her v-cut sleeveless dress featured all-over embellishments in hues of red, black & white with panels and intricate sequins throughout. She added jewels by Monique Péan & Lorraine Schwartz and strap sandals, with a matching lilac pink eyeshadow, cat eyeliner and glossy nude lips.
I adore what Ana Villafañe wore to the awards, as she chose this stunning gown by Carolina Herrera. The short-sleeved v-cut neckline dress featured appliqué that created petal motifs around the upper bodice before fading out into polka dots along the skirt overlay. Her Judith Leiber Couture clutch was quite the contrast to the pink hue and silver diamond earrings, that the actress completed with strong silver & black eye makeup, nude lips and a sleek updo.
Floral Frenzy
Vogue editor Anna Wintour attended the awards donning this Schiaparelli Haute Couture sleeveless dress. The floor-length look featured a subtle wrap effect on the waist & left shoulder strap, that was printed in orange & blue fruit and floral design. With her signature black sunglasses & bob haircut, the legendary editorial chief added a sparkling gemstone necklace and white bracelet with white caged heels to finish.
Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o attended in this Hugo Boss dress, which featured a straight off-the-shoulder neckline with all over multicoloured sequins. Her look was teamed with same-designer heels and Tiffany & Co. jewellery, with a dark chrome eyeshadow & berry lip colour to finish.

Her dark pink & purple peekaboo look featured a high neckline, long sleeves and a cinched-in waistline that she styled with pumps also by Oscar de la Renta, and a mini clutch by Lee Savage. Busy Philipps looked lovely in a pink floral Jacquard gown by Ingie Paris. She styled the look with an Olympia Le-Tan book clutch for ‘Jane Eyre’ and drop earrings by Irene Neuwirth. Straight hair and pink lipstick rounded up the actress’ red carpet look.
Like mother, like daughter as Bee Shaffer wore a floral sleeveless number to the Tony Awards too. Wearing Erdem on the night, her straight neck dress featured black trims along the neckline and down the sides of the bodice that met the waistline trims, on a floral embroidered overlay. She added a bespoke Hamilton inspired white marbled Edie Parker box clutch that read “A. Burr” and “A. Ham” on each side. Drop earrings, a chic updo and nude lipstick rounded up this look.
