Review: bBold Smart Mousse*

With summer creeping up on us ever so quickly, it’s always good to practice & prepare for the long-awaited beach days. Earlier this month I blogged about the new swimwear collection at House of Fraser, and today’s review goes rather hand in hand with bikinis; fake tan! Now you may be wondering, ‘why is a tanned girl testing out fake tan?’, well because I was very curious and also as I don’t have an even colour over my body due to the lack of sun in Dublin. My legs have always been whiter than the rest of, even though my natural colour is darker than Caucasians. If you’re following via Snapchat (NirinaXX), you’ll have seen that I was sent this product and it has been sitting on my table for too long. Curiosity got this cat, and so I’d like to share my honest review!

Created by Irish brand bBold, they offer a selection of fake tan products including their newest venture; the Smart Mousse. The 175ml bottle contains a mouse tan that dissolves onto the skin evenly, promising a no-streaks and no-smell finish that’s ideal for regular application. It also promises three simple steps for the perfect tan: apply, shower and develop. And that’s it! Made with 100% natural organic DHA, natural erythrulose and Aloe Vera, it will help to tone, protect & moisturize your skin. It also contains the very good-for-you Kahai Oil, that has 50% more vitamin E and twice as much vitamin F than Argon Oil! At very first try, I did the super tanning newbie thing of applying it on my hand! This was merely to see what the product texture and the colour were like. Needless to say I had a funny looking two-toned hand for a couple of days but it did scrub off easily. After chatting to my best friend Lorna, whom I deem a tanning expert, I was confident enough to give it a go on my legs. I prepped my legs with St. Moriz Advanced Pro Formula Exfoliating Skin Primer, rinsed, dried and then got comfortable to apply the tan. Using my bBold tanning applicator mitt, I applied one pump to my lower leg and blended in with the mitt in circular motions. I find that you’ve got to blend it in quickly from the product first touching your skin so as to avoid patches. I then applied one pump and blended into my upper leg & bum, and did the same for my other leg. Both legs were streak-free and the product does not leave any strong scents, which are two very big pluses for me! I left the tan on for about 1.5-2 hours, when I reckoned they matched my natural colour (everyone wants matching arms & legs right!). I rinsed off in the shower, and to my there were no streaks whatsoever – very impressive! I applied St. Moriz Advanced Pro Formula Moisturising Tan Enhancer (St. Moriz reviews to come), and then danced around admiring my new leg colour! Overall it was a rather exciting process, and my first time properly applying tan. Success – Killer Fashion can happily recommend!
