ARC Cancer Support Centre Designer Fashion Show

As you know, Killer Fashion is a big supporter of centres & organisations who help patients going through cancer, as well as being very passionate about helping and furthering cure developments. So I am delighted to announce to you all that the ARC Cancer Support Centre Designer Fashion Show is taking place later this Spring! These are two centres in Dublin City (Eccles Street and South Circular Road), who support men & women living with cancer as well as supporting their loved ones, and help with how we all deal with cancer. The sad truth is that we are all affected by cancer; be it our family or friends, so it’s always important and great to know there are people ready to give a helping hand. When my Mam was sick with breast & liver cancer, I used to bring her to the ARC Centre opposite her hospital, sometimes before or after her chemotherapy, or on days in between. She enjoyed going to the ARC Centre because the therapists listened to her, and she loved the head massages, as well as availing of the wig-fitting services when that time came. The staff & volunteers were so good to her, and I thank them for all the great days Mam had there. And now there’s a fantastic show set in stone to help raise funds for the ARC Centre!

What is ARC? ARC Cancer Support Centre is an Irish voluntary organisation that supports men and women affected by cancer. Whether someone has recently been diagnosed with cancer, is recovering from treatment, or is a parent, family member, or friend of someone with cancer, coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis can have a devastating impact. ARC offers professional support, counselling and complementary therapies in a calm and caring environment to nurture the individual, relieve their stress and anxiety, and encourage healing in a holistic manner. All services are free of charge. ARC’s aim is “To offer support, complementary therapies and counselling services in a warm and welcoming environment to people with cancer and those who care for them.”

Following on from the successful shows of past few years, the ARC Designer Fashion Show is back with a bang to showcase a mix of the best-established names alongside the finest innovative newcomers from Irish designers across the country, with all funds raised from the Fashion Show will go to ARC Cancer Support Centres, as services at the ARC are completely free of charge for patients. It will take place on Monday, 4th April 2016 at the RDS Concert Hall in Dublin, and I’m inviting you all to buy your tickets now! This show is for such a great cause, plus you’ll get to see a stellar fashion show and have a night to remember.

With over 800 attendees expected on the night and collections by 26 designers, The ARC Fashion Show is the biggest event of its kind in Ireland and is being produced by the talented Eddie Shanahan. UTV presenter, Claire Brock, will be the guest of honour on the night and Ireland’s leading luxury store, Brown Thomas, has also returned for the third year in a row to show their continued support for Irish design, who will also donate some exquisite raffle prizes, alongside beauty brand No7 who will be donating goodie bags for all attendees.

This year the show will present a spectacular millinery collection created especially for the show by six milliners that promises an exquisite display of colour and creativity. Some of the Irish designers featuring on the night include milliners Martha Lynn, Aisling Ahern, Margaret O’Connor, Elaine Keogh, Aoife Kirwan and Davina Lynch, as well as fashion designers Heidi Higgins, Emma Manley, David O’Malley, Mariad Whisker, Helen Cody and Fintan Mulholland, who was recently named as ‘one to watch’ by The Irish Times. What’s more, each year the show features ‘Arc Angels’ – patients who have used the service and take the spotlight by walking the runway! One of my good friends & fellow blogger, Niamh O’Donoghue of Cultured Cuppa, will be walking in the show, and I am excited to see that little beauty strut her stuff!
