Best Dressed at BRIT Awards 2016

Last night (February 24th) the annual BRIT Awards 2016 took place at The O2 Arena in London. Celebrating excellence in British and international music, the awards had some stellar performances as well as handing out the beautifully designed awards, as created by Tracey Emin, that was shown live on telly and hosted by NTA award-winners Ant & Dec. But before the main show, there’s always the red carpet show for the stars to strut their stuff and showcase some great fashion. However, following the last few award shows, I find the turnout was that tad bit lack lustrous. Nevertheless, check out whose made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed list this year.

The Best Dressed

Ella Eyre had me in awe as she walked the red carpet in a black long sleeve velvet gown, that seemed simple & sweet at the front, but at the back it was quite the party, with a low open back and gold sequin-plated trim all the around & along the neckline too. The young singer added a high curly haired ponytail to her look, with flawless dewy makeup, a gold glitter clutch & gold sandals to match.

My beloved Cheryl Fernandez-Versini looked fabulous in her pale yellow strapless dress by Zuhair Murad that featured a corset bodice with a waterfall peplum skirt too. The singer added strappy silver sandals, a diamond choker necklace and pavé earrings to her look, completing the outfit with dark smokey eyes, exaggerated lashes and a messy half up-half down top knot hairstyle. Gorgeous!

Black Beauties

Alexa Chung attended in a strapless v-cut velvet dress from British designer Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, that features a wrap detail on the waist and an asymmetrical skirt cut. The style icon teamed the look with black pointed pumps, a silver embellished clutch and her signature makeup.

Going for a cut out look, Fearne Cotton wore this mini dress with a twisted detail on the midriff and side cut outs. The short-sleeved look was styled with strappy heels and a fringed minaudière, soft wavy hair and soft pink lips to finish.

Attending with her husband, Emma Bunton repped the black attire in a caped belted mini dress look that was all sorts of sophisticated. The Spice Girl wore nude platform sandals with a black clutch and curly hair for the perfect BRIT Awards finish.

Kylie Minogue stepped out to the awards in a strapless lace frock by Dolce & Gabbana with her fiancé, Joshua Sasse, (see his look below). The petite blonde’s dress featured corset bodice with a midi tulle tiered full skirt. Rounding up her awards attire, Kylie wore a fedora hat, green pointed peeptoe heels by Pierre Hardy and a delicate green pendant necklace to match. The evening also marked the official 10 year ‘all clear’ from breast cancer for Kylie, which is amazing. Walking the red carpet in a black sheer gown, Kimberly Wyatt attended wearing House of CB. The black stretch lace dress featured sheer sections and embroidery in all the right places, with long sleeves and a fitted finish. Adding red lipstick and curled hair, Kimberly was beaming as she attended the awards. Click here to buy Kimberly’s dress!

Also opting for black, Liane La Havas attended in this strapless gown with a low-cut back and sheer overlay skirt. The singer added a statement black & white stone necklace, rounding up with a top knot and blushed cheeks with nude lips to finish.

Ethereal Romance

The Little Mix girls walked the red carpet together, coordinating gold & cream outfits. Jade Thirlwall attended in a slinky metallic gold slip dress with a wrap detail on he skirt and cross straps at the back, designed by Alida Herbst. Mermaid waves, nude barely there sandals and smokey eyes completed her look. Perrie Edwards opted for a metallic gold leather bralet and white high-waisted pants that she wore with a white lace overlay by Alida Herbst, which she styled with boho jewellery and nude sandals. Leigh-Anne Pinnock stepped out in an urban style, wearing a sheen silver & gold ombré bomber jacket & skirt ensemble also created by Alida Herbst, where the skirt featured a thigh-hight leg split and was also worn with a silver body chain harness. Jesy Nelson decided on this bespoke Suzanne Nevill gown that featured a deep sweetheart neckline, an asymmetrical cut skirt with sheer tulle and floral embroidery all over. The girls later performed ‘Black Magic’, changing into black & green embellished outfits that were designed by Alida Herbst too, which you can watch here.

X Factor singer Fleur East walked the red carpet in champagne sheer lace gown, that featured two leg splits and gold & silver embellishments on the body. The singer really stood out on the red carpet as her signature fro was now a red hue that had all eyes on her. The long-sleeved look was styled with triple strap gold sandals, a red mani-pedi and a selection of bracelets & rings, with smokey eyes.

Former Pussycat Dolls singer, Ashley Roberts was also in attendance, donning this sequin-clad crop top and high-waisted maxi skirt ensemble. The tall blonde teamed the look with chunky gold pointed heels and a fold-over clutch that read ‘I (heart) CRAP’, which is quite an odd statement indeed.Red lips and a straight bob hairstyle completed her look.

Embroidered & Embellished

Alesha Dixon rarely disappoints me, and for the BRITs the tall singer & presenter attended in a very interesting look. Her awards attire included an embroidered & sequin-embellished blazer with motifs on the sleeves, shoulders and along the trim that was worn with a sheer triangle bra peeking out underneath and a straight-cut high-low high-waisted skirt. The look showed off her long legs, accented by gold strappy sandals to compliment the look, a bouffant hairstyle and red lipstick.

Going for a similar style to Alesha Dixon, Tallia Storm walked the red carpet wearing a Balmain X H&M mini dress that featured the brand’s classic lattice design & trims and motifs. Going for a full branded look, the singer added a waistbelt and strappy peeptoe boots to her look, surprising me most with her hairstyle – as her signature fro was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the blonde styled her tresses into soft curly waves with strong but a flawless makeup finish.

Susanna Reid attended in a dark red fully sequined gown, with a scooped neckline and fitted finish, that also featured floral motifs on the skirt trim. The dress looked fabulous on the brunette’s hourglass body, that was simply styled with zero jewellery but red lips and matching red nails, and tousled curls.

Irish gal Laura Whitmore walked the red carpet in this custom-made Julien Macdonald mini dress. The look featured spiderweb lace sleeves with embellishments on the bodice and feathers around the skirt trim. She added black Jimmy Choo peeptoe heels to the look, with a choker neckpiece, smokey eyes & nude lips and soft mermaid waves to finish.

Annie Mac deserved proper recognition for her fun & fabulous frock on the red carpet, as she attended the BRITs in this rainbow all-over sequin column gown. The half-sleeves look was the most colourful piece I’ve seen in a long time, which she styled with a red matte Lulu McGuinness lips clutch, minimal makeup and tight curled hair.

A Splash of Colour

Jess Glynne loves a statement, and for the BRITs the red-haired singer wore a jacquard emerald green suit that gave me plenty of 1970s vibes. The flared pants, with slightly oversized blazer sans shirt and black & white platform heels, complete with her afro hairstyle, the BRIT Awards nominee was definitely having fun on the red carpet. Jess Glynne later performed a medley of ‘Ain’t Got Far To Go’, ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’ and ‘Hold My Hand’, wearing a black & white look designed by Alida Herbst, which you can watch here.

Going for a throwback style too, Anais Gallagher attended the awards in a pale blue suit, with high-waisted trousers, a black & white printed silk shirt and platform shoes that gave the blonde-haired beauty plenty of height. Soft mermaid waves, barely there makeup and minimal accessories completed her look.

Really adding some colour to the night, Izzy Bizzu attended in an orange sleeveless dress, which featured a halterneck finish and all-over peekaboo lace that was quite an interesting look. The fitted gown was styled with a back & orange box clutch, a voluminous clipped up hairstyle and old jewels that has me still smiling.

Rihanna walked the red carpet in a lilac tiered dress by Armani Privé. Her v-cut look was styled with Giuseppe Zanotti strappy sandals and a selection of jewellery including Jack Vartanian earrings, Casa Reale bracelet & rings and an Asprey amethyst ring. Matching her eyeshadow to the gown’s hues, RiRi finished the look with her straight bob haircut. The Bajan beauty also performed at the BRITs, changing into a white bandeau long sleeved top with fringed pants by Norma Kamali to perform ‘Consideration’ with artist SZA and then ‘Work’ with rapper Drakewhich you can watch here.
