My Top 5 – BB/CC/Concealer

As you’ll remember, I’m doing a My Top 5 beauty products series, and today’s post is the third in the series. This is all about the tricksters of makeup & covering up, that help minimize spots, dark circles and even out skin tone with just one little product. When I began using makeup, I had no clue about BB & CC creams, concealer or illuminators. I like to think that now, after many a lesson at Brown Thomas and watching beauty blogger videos, I’ve learnt a fair amount to make my makeup regime even better. And when it comes to daily routines, these are my favourites picks from the beauty drawer.

1. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat

This YSL Touche Éclat is probably one of my most favourite beauty products I’ve ever owned. It is the King (or Queen rather) of the multi-purpose product as it brilliantly conceals dark circles and highlights your best features. It’s also great for using as a primer before eyeshadow, as a plumping effect on the cupid’s bow and for contouring if using a darker shade. So yeah, a truly wondrous product that blends exceptionnally well, and lasts so long in your beauty drawer. I had my first one for over a year! I’m also loving YSL’s limited edition designs, currently there is the Kiss & Love edition and the Or Divine edition, both available from Brown ThomasAvailable at €35

2. Physicians Formula Super BB All-in-One Beauty Balm Concealer*

This was a big surprise at how much I loved the product from the get go. It sure had tough competition with the aforementioned Touche Éclat, but at a fraction of the price it’s the next best thing. Physicians Formula was a new brand to me at the time I received it, and I’m since quite the fan. The texture of this BB concealer is great for blending, and a little goes a long way with this product too. I’ve gone days where I just wore this concealer rather than a full face of makeup, which I feel really does say a lot about it. Handy for every makeup bag, I really do recommend it! 3. Yves Saint Laurent Forever Light Creator CC Crème Colour Corrector

This is one of my newest products, and I’m really loving it. The YSL Forever Light Creator CC Creme is actually the brand’s first colour corrector, and my gosh have they done it right! It really helps even out your overall colour & skin tone to achieve a radiant glow, and reduces any imperfections or blemishes. I actually use it with my foundation, mixing the two to create my perfect shade, whilst availing of these features upon application. And like most YSL products, I only need a small amount for full coverage. Available at €34

4. Stila One Step Illuminate*

As you may remember, back in February 2015 I reviewed the Stila One Step Illuminate in full, after receiving it at the Stila Bombshell Brows event. I really like how it adds a lovely sheer layer around the eye & upper cheek areas, without being too in-your-face shimmery. Solo, it’s great for a light base and promises to help improve & even out your complexion and helps smooth fine lines &wrinkles. And when used atop foundation it gives that healthy subtle shimmery glow, meaning you won’t have to pile on the amount of products you use, and that is always a plus. Available at €32

5. No7 Skin Illuminator*

This nifty illuminator product is climbing up the ladder of my favourite beauty picks and I’ll tell you why. No7 Skin Illuminator was created this multi-purpose product with subtle shimmer and creating light in mind, evident in the pigmentation and reflective flakes of this illuminator. I have used it as an all-over primer, I’ve mixed it with my foundation for a subtle but effective base, and I’ve used it as a highlighter. All three results were satisfactory with the highlighter lasting all day long – I’ve been complimented on my light-reflective look at different times of the day! The semi-liquid semi-creamy texture allows you to blend the product easily, with which you can use your fingers or a makeup brush. A great bonus of this product is that a little really goes a long way. Killer Fashion highly recommends! Available at Boots, €17
