Thomas Sabo Unveils #AboutLove SS16 Press Event

On Tuesday afternoon (January 26th) I was invited to attend the Thomas Sabo Spring/Summer Collection 2016, to preview their new collection. Alongside fellow Irish fashion & lifestyle press, buyers and special guest Rosanna Davison, we were treated to a wonderful and very informative event, held in The Marker Hotel, Grand Canal. Similar to their AW15 collection press event, an opening presentation took place in the back room that talked through the business of Thomas Sabo, the brand’s marketing schemes, how they deal with both the retail and non-materialistic competition. Following the jewellery brand’s previous #MyLoveBridge campaign, the new Spring/Summer 2016 venture is all #AboutLove, and is perfectly in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Continuing their work with Thomas Sabo, models Georgia May Jagger & Marlon Teixeira front the campaign, which is about the love of a couple and creating everlasting memories. The campaign movie plays the young couple to the soundtrack of Grammy-winning John Legend’s “All Of Me”, yet another perfect fit for both the collection and the feature.

Thomas Sabo SS16 Valentines Day

Of course the big focus of this SS16 event was the spectacular jewellery on display, which I truly fell in love with. The collection features many beautiful pieces, the Love Bridge collection alone features over 50 bracelets with most pieces engraveable. Mr Thomas Sabo asked himself, “What can I do to disrupt our competitors, and the industry?” And the answer was to give every customer the ability to create personalized messages with each purchase from the collection, making the pieces that extra bit special for yourself or your loved one. The engraving is used with a specific machine especially designed for Thomas Sabo jewellery, that can create up to 18 letters/symbols in under two minutes – amazing! Each and every staff member, in every Thomas Sabo’s store are all taught how to use the engraving machines, which creates theatre in the stores and enables customers to feel they’re more part of the product. Some of the newer pieces added to the Love Bridge collection includes disc & heart pendants and solid bracelet love cuffs that are all engravable and are perfect for Valentine’s Day; colourful rope chains & beaded ties; and the new Festival Love Bridge jewellery.

The SS16 collection also introduces updated versions of beloved pieces, featuring romantic symbols of love that meet delicate ethno-patterns to tell tales of dreams, summertime joie-de-vivre, true love and the courage to express ones affection. The Glam & Soul collection debuts dreamcatcher & feather motifs and designs which also reflect the aforementioned Festival Love Bridge selection with hues of turquoise, pastel & hot pink. The new jewellery also features Māori designs for the male Rebel at Heart collection, which is inspired by the New Zealand Haka and is extremely cool if I may say so. Some of the designs include intricate details from black zirconia pavé & black enamel to cultural tattoo ornamentation, that represent protection and strength. And then there is the Watches collection, full of sparkling bezels, colourful leather straps and beautifully designed faces, a few of which I have my eye on. The Karma Beads collection is also updated with new designs, there is plenty of rose gold & pastel pink for Valentine’s Day, as well as men’s styles & watches and then of course there’s the Thomas Sabo Charm Clubwhich is always perfect for gift ideas. This is the great thing about the Thomas Sabo brand; it is one brand with many different looks, a wide product range to suit all of their different customers tastes & styles.

Even the display cases for all of the brand new jewellery were beautiful, laid out in their themes with spotlights for attendees to gawk at and to fall in love with. Y’all know how much Killer Fashion adores all things sparkly, and so this press event was just the icing on the cake for the first month of the new year! At the end of the day I was gifted with the dark-red Mokuba ribbon plaited cord & rose gold bar Love Bridge bracelet, which I engraved with “Love Bugs” and two heart symbols that represents the love I have for all of my followers! I really kept in with the theme! Along with the cupcakes, pastries, juices and refreshments, illustrator Conor Merriman was on hand sketching & being his genius self – so this truly was the most perfect lunchtime event! Keep an eye on the blog for the upcoming Valentine’s Day gift ideas posts!
