Finally it’s time for one of my favourite seasons of the year; awards season! Last night (January 6th), the People’s Choice Awards 2016 took place at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles. Always a great show from the ceremony, to the winners and the performances, the People’s Choice Awards are a favourite of mine and this year their red carpet show did not disappoint. Take a look at who blew me away most, and who else made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed list!
The Best Dressed
Vanessa Hudgens absolutely killed it. I completely adore what she chose for the People’s Choice red carpet & show, stepping out in a slinky metallic dress by Kayat. The pewter colour works wonders against the singer/actress’ olive skin tone, and that thigh-high leg split showed off her black strappy heels perfectly. Her choice of chunky metallic jewellery also compliments the look; from the Pluma choker necklace to the Bavna pavé bangles and statement rings by Noudar and Casa Reale, to matching her silver smokey eye makeup and the relaxed hairstyle – this look is all things beautiful.
I must say, I was blown away by Arden Cho‘s People’s Choice look. This was stunning. Her black & red Mario Dice gown was made for her. The sheer black robe dress featured a red embroidered pattern along with embellishments and pleated bell sleeves, that the Teen Wolf actress wore with a black bodysuit and patent pumps by Christian Louboutin. And then there’s the relaxed plaited hairstyle, that flawless makeup finish and the vampy lipstick. Just gorgeous!
White Hot
Portia de Rossi looked great in her peplum-caped jumpsuit by SAFiYAA. She worked the scooped neckline look with Brian Atwood heels, a Judith Leiber clutch, and jewels by Graziela Gems. Coordinating with wife Ellen DeGeneres’ classic all black look, the couple looked all sorts of tres chic. Ellen also won two People’s Choice awards for Favorite Day Time Host and Favorite Humanitarian Award!
One of my all time faves, Kate Hudson, was a lovely sight for the red carpet as she glided down in this strapless tuxedo jumpsuit by Stella McCartney. She added a white & metallic Jimmy Choo clutch and Brian Atwood shoes to her look, complete with Jorge Adeler earrings, a chic ponytail and exaggerated lashes.
I love what Katherine McNamara wore to the awards. The tall redhead attended in a Olcay Gulsen Collection dress, which featured a sheer leaf-patterned printed overlay on a scoop-neck mini dress, that was all sorts of beautiful. She styled her look with Ring Rock & Gems jewellery, a Milli Millu bag and mermaid waves.
Camilla Luddington attended in a long sleeve white mini dress, which featured embellishment on the shoulders. Silver barely there sandals, a box clutch, smokey eyes and an upstyle completed her look.
Black Beauties
Stepping out with her Grease: Live co-stars, Julianne Hough looked great on the red carpet wearing an off-the-shoulder Kaufmanfranco dress. The multi-talented blonde wore this sequin-clad cut out gown with Giuseppe Zanotti heels, an Edie Parker clutch, and styled Forevermark Diamonds jewels to the look, completing her awards outfit with a tight top knot hairstyle, smokey eyes and nude lips, adding a pop of colour with the red manicure.
Joining Julianne on the red carpet, actress Keke Palmer attended also in black, donning this sheer lace embellished strapless & off-the-shoulder top with a high-waisted skirt, both by Yousef Al-Jasmi. The actress styled her hair into a punky hairstyle with a rat-tail plait, added exaggerated lashes and nude lips to the look, and rounded up with jewellery by Anne Sisteron and Nissa Jewelry.
Johanna Braddy looked great at the awards in her black gown, with its waterfall skirt finish and capped shoulders detail. The Quantico actress added metallic panel platform pumps to the look, and along with the minimal jewels, the exaggerated eyeliner and the sweet wavy bob, this was all perfect for the dress.
Working her gorgeous curves, Liz Hernandez was in attendance wearing a sequin covered mini, that featured geometric sheer lines throughout with long sleeves and a high neck. Nude pumps and voluminous hair were the perfect finishing touches.
Also attending in an LBD, Lea Michele stepped out in this Elie Saab mini dress, which featured an embellished peekaboo cutout design on the bodice & hips. She was stled with Brian Atwood t-bar heelsand Anita Ko jewellery, with a berry lip and matching manicure.
The Pretty Little Liars gang was also out in force, as Ashley Benson hit up the pre-show in an LBD by one of my favourite designers, Phillip Plein. Her shoulder-embellished long sleeve mini dress was perfectly worn with cross strap sandals by Nicholas Kirkwood, styled with Established and Jennifer Meyer jewellery, and a tidy ponytail. I love how sweet & sophisticated this look is, Ashley is always on point. Ashley Benson also won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Drama for ‘Pretty Little Liars’, accepting alongside her co-stars.
Lucy Hale attended too, wearing this boho-vibes Self Portrait dress. Her tiered column dress features lace up on the bodice, nude & sheer panels on the skirt with an ankle cut finish. Brian Atwood pumps, a Lee Savage clutch and drop earrings by Vanessa Leu styled her look, along with strong brows and a Bordeaux red lip. Lucy Hale also won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Drama for ‘Pretty Little Liars’, accepting alongside her co-stars. Click here to buy Lucy Hale’s People’s Choice Awards dress!
Joining her co-stars on the black dress trend, Shay Mitchell stepped out in a sexy dress by Haney. Her halterneck sleeveless number featured an embellished high-leg cut out, giving us plenty of Angelina Leg, that showed off her Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. She worked the look with a clutch from Kotur, smokey eyes and a straight hairstyle. Shay Mitchell also won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Drama for ‘Pretty Little Liars’, accepting alongside her co-stars.
Lady in Red
Sasha Alexander opted for this beautiful tangerine-red Antonio Berardi midi dress, which featured an asymmetrical off-the-shoulder neckline with a baby pink contrasting fold over panel. The cinched-in look was worn with pink strappy Olgana pumps, a Jimmy Choo clutch and Niwaka jewellery. I love the structure of this dress, and how elegant Sasha looks too. From head to toe, this is a definite favourite.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Ming-Na Wen gave us a sassy mini dress by Mark Zunino. I love the red & black combination, and that floral detail on the bust with the deep sweetheart neckline, and then the voluminous underskirt. There are just so many fabulous details. Ming-Na added stunning jewels by Erica Courtney and black heels to her look, finishing with a Swarovski black clutch & red lipstick.
Keltie Knight attended in a dark red midi gown, which featured a delicate peekaboo bodice with a high neck & capped shoulders, that cinched into the tulle skirt. It was both regal and fairytale-like, and me likey! Nude barely there ankle strap sandals, an upstyle and minimal jewellery were the right finishing touches for the presenter’s red carpet look.
Giving us something to be in awe of, Abigail Spencer stepped out in this strapless bandeau Alexia Maria gown. The dress featured to-the-floor peplum from the waist as well as a bow-belt, which the actress teamed with jewels by Neil Lane, lace up heels by Stuart Weitzman, an Edie Parker clutch and a bouffant updo to finish.
Sandra Bullock was also in attendance, skipping the red carpet but looking gorgeous in Monique Lhuillier as she collected her award. The actress took to the stage in this crochet lace frock, that featured a slight waterfall skirt finish and loose cuffs, which she wore with Stuart Weitzman heels. Sandra Bullock won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actress.
Pretty in Pink & Purple
Opting for the femme suit, Cheryl Burke looked lovely in her powder pink two piece from Pallas Paris. The Dancing With the Stars beauty attended sans shirt, opting to add a nude envelope clutch and nude pumps by Christian Louboutin to her look.
Torrey DeVitto attended in a plum-coloured mermaid fitted dress, that featured sheer billowing sleeves, and a v-cut neckline, which I really loved. Her minimal styling was also on point, and Torrey’s perfect hair & makeup added a sophisticated finish.
Going all out, Christina Milian stepped out in a fully sequin gown. The purple plunging gown shone from all angles, with its lilac body and darker contrasting trims that matched her purple cut out heels by Christian Louboutin. Adding a purple satin box clutch, nude lips and drop earrings, Christina looked every bit ready for the awards.
Metallic Madness
Tamala Jones attended the People’s Choice in a sleeveless, high neck gown that featured gold & cream alternating sequin-stripes. I love the embellishment along that neckline too, which she styled with statement jewellery and smokey eyes to finish.
Adding in a glory of glitter, Priyanka Chopra wore this strapless two-tone sequin dress by Vera Wang Collection. The fish scale sequin midi was worn with silver Jimmy Choo pumps, and jewellery from Leticia Linton, Anita Ko, Djula and H. Stern. Her bouffant updo and smoldering makeup were perfect for the Quantico actress.
Claire Danes always brings out something surprising, and for the People’s Choice Awards it was this metallic Burberry column gown. The built-in bib collar, keyhole detail, sheer waistband and full-length skirt all worked brilliantly together. I’m glad to see the tall blonde kept her accessories to a minimum, adding some jewels and red lip to finish. At first I wasn’t in love with this look, but admittedly it is growing on me.
Also opting for a metallic look was actress Dakota Johnson, who skipped the red carpet but collected her award on stage during the show. She wore an Armani Privé Couture two piece, which featured peplum detail on the low scoop crop top and pleated detail on the skirt. Though there was a minor wardorbe mishaps, Dakota laughed it off gracefully. Dakota Johnson won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic Film Actress for ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.
The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco attended with her co-stars, donning a sequin-embellished mini by Manning Cartell. The purple-hued dress featured a plunging neckline with a sheer lattice insert, and was worn with black strappy heels by Stuart Weitzman. However in the press room, Kaley changed her footwear into more comfortable Dior sneakers! Kaley Cuoco won two People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Network TV Comedy and Favorite TV Show for ‘The Big Bang Theory, accepting alongside her co-stars.
Sarah Hyland skipped the red carpet too, though showed off her embellished bodice mini dress on the blue carpet of the awards’ after party. The strapless dress also featured relaxed peplum detail on the skirt, which she teamed with silver & black T-bar sandals and sultry smokey eyes. Gorgeous!
Bold in Blue
Renee Bargh attended the awards in a sheer teal blue lace number by Self Portrait. The short-sleeved overlay was worn with a contrasting black bandeau & mini skirt set, to match her patent heels by Prada. A chic ponytail and minimal jewels, and Renee was ready to work the red carpet.
Looking calm & collected, Sarah Rafferty glided onto the red carpet in her midnight blue silk shirt dress. The plunging neckline & slight skirt split worked wonders on the tall redhead, and beautifully so against her porcelain skin. Cinched in at the waist with button detail, Sarah added red lipstick and minimal jewellery for the perfect finish.
Stefani Scott also attended wearing teal blue, in an Oscar de la Renta look. The skirt & top combo featured an interesting neckline with cross straps at the back, and a sheer overlay on the skirt too. Adding heels and blue& black eye makeup with a dewy finish using Sisley makeup, and the young brunette definitely looked the part for the awards.
