Best Dressed at MTV EMAs 2015

Last night (October 25th), the MTV European Music Awards 2015 took place at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy for another round of music celebrations, as voted by European fans. Considering last year’s show was hosted by superstar Nicki Minaj, this year’s hosts Ed Sheeran & Ruby Rose had quite some task but boy did they do a brilliant job at hosting & keeping us entertained. With the show taking place in one of the fashion capital cities, I’m disappointed at the lack of serious fashion choices…however, some of the ladies and plenty of gents did dress to the nines & give us a good red carpet show. So let’s see whose made this year’s Killer Fashion Best Dressed List!

The Best Dressed

One of my favourite actresses, Ashley Benson, attended the awards. For the evening, the Pretty Little Liars actress wore a black beaded lace dress by Haney with a BCBGMAXAZRIA black blazer worn on the shoulders for a touch of sophistication. I love this look from head to toe, from her soft wavy hair to the smokey eye makeup and nude lips, to the Jennifer Meyer drop earrings, the embellished metallic box clutch and the barely there sandals. I love it all!

Attending with her beau Robert Pires, Jessica LeMarie-Pires looked fabulous in her multicoloured knitted mini dress by Balmain. The v-cut neckline added some sexiness with its thick black trims but the dress was doing all the talkiong in its colourful hues & geometric patterns, to which the model added a thatched purple clutch and black ankle boots for a sophisticated finish. I love what Jessica is wearing here, like Ashley Benson, this looks is perfect from head to toe.

The Hosts With the Most

You’ve just got to love Ed Sheeran. He wore this three-piece suit by Armani on the red carpet, looking ever so dapper and kept it on throughout the show whilst hosting. He did remove his jacket at one point, before changing into something more casual for his performance of ‘Lay It All On Me’ with Rudimental, which you can watch here. Ed Sheeran also won MTV EMA awards for Best Live and Best World Stage, which I am super happy about, as I’ve seen him live and he was phenomenal!

Ruby Rose stepped up to her hosting game, donning a few different outfits to the EMAs. The Orange Is the New Black actress started her night in an all black velvet suit by Armani Privé, donning high-waisted trousers with a long line tuxedo jacket that features hook details on the silk lapels, which she wore sans shirt. She rounded up her red carpet look with peeptoe mules by Giuseppe Zanotti and a cane, a braided & back hairstyle, fresh-faced makeup and silver earrings & rings.

Look 1 was this beautiful black strapless gown by Schiaparelli Couture, complete with embellished red lips & heart motifs as well as reading ‘I Love Ruby’ on the bodice, which she wore with platform heels. Look 2 was…a fun look; she donned a strapless nude mini dress that was adorned with spaghetti pasta all over, draping off at the bottom. She wore the look with gold strappy sandals. Apparently the pasta is edible, though I’m hoping no one attempted to do so post-wearing. A tribute to Italy for Pasta Day indeed! For Look 3,was an interesting white, black & red combination by Fausto Puglisi. This toga-like mini dress featured a white body with an asymmetrical draped feature, a red satin bralet with monochrome floral-patterned straps and a pleated skirt. The look is way too fussy and does not go with her embellished boots at all. For Look 4 Ruby changed into an all black, leather look with a biker jacket and zip-detailed trousers, a high-neck top and hoop earrings. For Look 5, Ruby returned to the suit, wearing a custom-made white wool & silk jacket and  tapered trousers look sans shirt by Schiaparelli Couture. The jacket also bore an oversized ‘Shocking Pink Iris’ pavé floral brooch by the designer, which was quite the stunner. For this look, the actress also took the braids out, opting for a chic pixie hairstyle. For the finale & Look 6, the actress wore a Versus Versace plunging jumpsuit with a statement silver belt, that featured the brand’s lion logo and wings. What was your favourite look by our tattooed hostess?

A Splash of Colour

Hailey Baldwin attended the EMAs this year, donning a mini dress by Versace. Her black look featured green & purple floral designs, cut out and nude mesh sections with a halterneck design. The very short dress did show off the model’s long legs, which she accentuated with black strappy sandals. She opted for a ponytail with bangs, and smokey eyes to finish.

Singer Jess Glynne brought colour to the red carpet in her blood orange dress by Tom Ford. The dress featured on open front that showed off some cleavagealong with long sleeves, a halterneck piece and a column-finish on the split skirt, the look was rather sexy without being overtly so. Jess later performed ‘Hold My Hand’ and ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’, which you can watch herewearing a Versace flared jumpsuit that features an asymmetrical slash across from the shoulder.

Tallia Storm is never one to shy from a statement look, and the R&B artist didn’t disappoint as she hit the red carpet in this black & red look. Her House of CB ‘Marikko’ black bandage lattice dress was worn with a bandeau and high-waisted shorts underneath, along with a red, black & nude faux fur coat by MSGM. Her signature tall fro and the platform strappy heels added some amount of height to her look, which she styled with a quilted chain handbag and smokey eye makeup by Urban Decay. Click here to buy Tallia Storm’s MTV EMAs dress! // Click here to buy Tallia Storm’s MTV EMAs coat!

Black Beauties

Pop/R&B singer Tori Kelly gave us this LBD with a frilled neckline detail that featured corset structures on the body. Her signature curls were sideswept, and she added strappy heels to the red carpet look. Later, Tori performed a medley of songs including Should’ve Been Us’, ‘No Scrubs’, ‘Real Love’ and ‘Ready Or Not’, which you can watch here. She then joined legendary Italian tenor singer Andrea Bocelli after his epic performance of Con te partirò‘, to sing ‘Just Give Me a Reason’ together, which you can watch here. For her on-stage performance, Tori wore a gold lamé suit with a black & gold floral-patterned top, which was very flash and ever so appropriate.

Amanda Cerny also got the memo about the open front trend, as she walked the red carpet in this black & sheer panelled dress. The long sleeved look featured panels of sheer black along the inner body and sleeves, but that wide open front had some of her cleavage on show for all to see. Nude makeup and red accessories completed her look.

Vicky Pattison worked her hourglass shape really well, in this House of CB ‘Balere’ lace and bandage dress. The plunging neckline added sexiness to her look, while the floor-length skirt and side split gave the dress even more oomph. An upstyle hairdo, zero accessories and flawless makeup completed this almost understated look. In Vicky’s case, less is more. Click here to buy Vicky Pattison’s MTV EMAs dress!

Showcasing her new yellow hair colour, singer Ellie Goulding attended the EMAs in a black silk gown by Alex Perry, which also featured an open neckline and a high leg split. Her Sophia Webster butterfly-back crystal-embellished sandals are to die for, and are definitely on my next wishlist! Ellie later performed ‘Love Me Like You Do’, which you can watch herethough surprisingly she didn’t change her dress on-stage, but tied her hair into a ponytail & switched into ankle boots to perform. Click here to buy Ellie Goulding’s MTV EMA shoes!

White Hot

Irish presenter and MTV backstage hostess Laura Whitmore hit the red carpet early in this white & mesh mini dress. The textured dress featured ¾ sleeves and a gold buckle waistband, with which the Dubliner wore her own collaboration collection of jewellery, from Laura Whitmore X Daisy Jewellery, and cornflower blue pointed heels with an orange-red lipstick.

Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell joined her co-star & friend, in a white Kayat gown. The dress featured the evening’s open front trend, with a wide v-cut neckline, long sleeves and a front slit skirt, with all the trims glistening from the silver-threaded finish. The look also features a neckpiece, which I think takes away from this look, and personally I feel the wide neckline also is a wrong choice. Her hair & makeup were flawless, but this red carpet attire could have been much better.

Menswear

The gents were pretty impressive for this year’s EMAs. My favourite looks included Diamond Platnumz, whose white & black lapels suit had him truly standing out, and he also won the MTV EMA for Best Worldwide Act: Africa & India – congratulations!

Being ever so cheeky on the red carpet, singer Jason Derülo walked down in a fur-lined jacket and sneakers look, with a glass of alcohol in one hand and a cigar in the other! Later Jason performed ‘Want You To Want Me’, which you can watch here, impressively performing part of it on a two-wheel hoverboard!

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis looked equally brilliant; comfortable but stylish and were joined on the red carpet and on stage by singer Eric Nally, with whom they opened the show performing ‘Downtown’, which you can watch hereand also won an EMA award for Best Video for ‘Downtown’ – congratulations, very happy about this!

Dutch DJ & artist Martin Garrix walked the red carpet in a cool red & black leather jacket with white sneakers, before performing at the outdoor stage, and also won an EMA award for Best Electronic.

British rapper & style icon Tinie Tempah was also in attendance wearing an Asian-style & printed longline coat, with black & gold-rimmed round sunglasses and an array of jewels, and looked every bit tres cool.
