Urban Decay Masterclass with Danielle Roberts

Urban DecayYesterday morning (October 20th), I was invited to attend a masterclass event with Urban Decay and their über talented makeup artist Danielle Roberts. I was excited to attend this class as it promised to showcase many of the brand’s best products, as well as their newest & not-yet-released Vice 4 Palette, and more Christmas special products. The exclusive masterclass took place in the loft of Drury Buildings in their cool, urban open space and were spoiled with a breakfast pot of muesli, yogurt & fresh fruit as well as a choice of tea or coffee, I opted for delicious Earl Grey. Danielle’s makeup station was at the front of the room, where model Michele McGrath sat in an über cool all black look.

Some sequels leave you wishing the creators had quit while they were ahead. But the good ones keep you hooked and coming back for more. We loaded this limited-edition palette with 20 addictively gorgeous, never-before-seen shades of our iconic Eyeshadow. This proprietary blend of ingredients allows colour to weave itself through the formula. The result? Insane pay out. Colour that stays put. Sparkle that doesn’t fall. And velvety, suede-like smoothness and bendability. – Urban Decay of Vice 4 Palette

To start the look, Danielle used the eye primer cream, Eyeshadow Primer Potion with an eye shadow brush to really work in the prep steps to the look. She then applied Moon Dust Eyeshadow in Cosmic, using an eye shadow brush on which she first sprayed the Makeup Setting Spray on. She then used the highly-anticipated Vice 4 Palette in Bitter & Flame (not yet available) for an ultra cool day & night look, with its soft orange hues, and added definition using the upcoming 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil.

In her palm, Danielle then mixed two pumps of Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup foundation, with the Complexion Primer Potion and B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray into a mix before applying to Michele’s face with a powder brush. This was quite an intriguing step, as I’d never heard of mixing three face products into one, in one’s hand. It did give a radiant finish and was even all over, a beautiful finish as mixing instead of layering on products. Adding the strobing beauty trend to the look, Danielle applied Naked Flushed, using the blusher on the apple of the cheeks, the bronzer along the cheekbones, and the highlighter around the eye and top-of-the-cheeks areas for an all-round glamorous finish.

Returning to the eyes, Danielle applied the Subversion Primer and then Perversion Mascara to the lashes, to give it that thick and ultra black look. I’ve used mascara primers before, and I am a big fan so I’ll be looking forward to trying the Urban Decay products out. Then using the Brow Tamer Gel, Michele’s brows were put on fleek, for the perfect brow finish.

To complete the beauty look, Danielle used 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Blackmail (colour not yet available) all over the lips and then Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss on top for a flawless lip. I was really impressed with the pigmentation of this lip liner alone, and with the lip gloss on top it gives a great finish that’s not over the top for day or night.

Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette will be available from October 28th at select Debenhams stores nationwide and House of Fraser, Dundrum Town Centre, at €48

Thank you to Róisín of L’Oréal Group for the invite and brilliant organisation, to Danielle Roberts of Urban Decay & Michele McGrath and to the staff at Drury Buildings!
