Louise Roe X Karen Millen AW15 Press Event

karen millenYesterday evening (September 7th) I attended the Louise Roe X Karen Millen event in my favourite hot spot, Brown Thomas, for the preview of the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. I was very excited for this, as I’ve been a fan of Louise Roe for quite some time, as well as being a big fan of Karen Millen, and it was the perfect event to kickstart the Dublin Fashion Festival! I headed in with two of my besties, Lorna & Kassi, and was seated front row for the evening, the most perfect view to really inspect the fashion. I also caught up with bloggers Roisin of The Fashion Observer, Mary Cate of The Fashion Horn, Aisling of Ace Adores and Dami Oke of Fierce & Modish.

“Make your wardrobe work for you! We can’t all buy a brand new wardrobe of clothes, shoes & accessories every season, but you can invest in a good coat.” – Louise Roe

The models posed on the platform in front while Louise Roe talked us through each of the looks and all about the finesse of Karen Millen designs. There is clear evidence that throwback fashion is bang on trend: with the timeless camel coat that oozes 1970s glamour; the denim culottes that gives us a different twist to our usual blue jeans; suede, faux & real leather fabrics that are perfect for layering and texture contrasting; both the trench coat dress & the shirt dress are a big trend for this season; the Feminine Opulence selection has hints gothic styles with high necklines, crochet, embellishment & embroidery details that’s perfect for the party season ahead; peeptoe booties and tall boots are must haves for AW15; and the best news of all, dresses and flats are going to be a big thing! The great thing about Karen Millen designs is that they’re true staple pieces, and investments too. I remember when my Mam used to shop there and I’d wander in behind her, in awe of all the beautiful pieces on the racks. In the past few years, I’ve really come to understand why it’s so important to pay that extra bit, because you want your fashion to go the extra mile. The attention to detail and the craftsmanship of the brand’s designs mean that they will last you those few years longer. Therefore it’s definitely worth every cent you’ve paid!

I really enjoyed this event, because it was truly about the fashion and getting style tips from Louise Roe herself was just the icing on the cake. As blogger press, I also received a goodie bag with Louise Roe’s book ‘Front Roe’ that she also signed for me, the stunning fringed red suede Aldwych clutch, (one of only 200 made worldwide and available exclusively at this event!) and a voucher from Karen Millen. Thank you so much for these!

Many thanks to Louise Roe, the Karen Millen & Brown Thomas teams for a wonderful evening!
