With this weekend being the big birthday weekend for Killer Fashion and I, it was an obvious decision to drop into Tropical Popical for a serious manicure, and oh how it was fabulous. You may remember I booked myself into this Dublin City nail salon back in August last year, and I was very impressed. So back to the ladies I went for another spot of pampering. The nail salon is super cute, colourful and definitely tropical. The interior reflects the fun cities of America, where the owners discovered their love for the nail world, with neon signs, disco balls hanging from the ceiling, palm trees & cactuses on the walls & in pots, flamingo artwork and colourful furniture. Playing remixes of old & new hits, and a wide variety of nail polish colours to choose from, this nail salon caters to everything I love.
Treatment: Midi Mani
I opted for the Mini Mani this time, a top of the line manicure with nail art creation too. Together with my nail technician Niamh I chose two colours; American Apparel in Sandstorm for the base and Inglot in Breathable Nail Enamel #653 for the red heart tips. I researched some looks from the Tropical Popical Facebook & Instagram pages to find the right nail design for tomorrow’s party look, that also reflects me and funnily enough the original style I found was done by Niamh that day! Niamh started by filing my nails into a sightly pointed rounded tip, then dipping each hand into a scented water solution, pushing down my cuticles and then clipping away any unwanted bits. Next was the base coat, which are two coats of a lovely nude shade, very similar to my natural skin tone. Then, using a nail art pen, Niamh carefully created the heart shapes on the tips of my nails in that gorgeous scarlet red for the snazzy nail art finish. She completed the manicure with one top coat & cuticle oils and left them to dry for 15 minutes.
Verdict for Mini Mani – 5/5
Just like my previous manicure, I am so delighted with the results! The base coats really help the nails’ designs stand out and I adore the scarlet red choice. The top coat gives the finish a brilliant shine & hopefully will protect them from daily happenings over the next few days. Thank you so much to Niamh, she did a truly fantastic job and now I am looking forward to my birthday party tomorrow! €25 may seem like a lot but with end results like this, super friendly service and an hours work, it’s oh-so worth it! Killer Fashion definitely recommends Tropical Popical
