Best Dressed at Billboard Music Awards 2015

Last night the Billboard Music Awards 2015 took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It was a sunny Sunday evening with many music stars stepping out for the occasion. With many starlets across seas at the Cannes Film Festival, it was up to the musicians to make a fashion statement, and oh how they did it well. From Taylor Swift and her ever-awesome group of celeb besties coming together to the many internet sensations walking the red carpet as well as the impressive show of suited & booted men, this was one red carpet show not to miss. And hosts Chrissy Teigen & Ludacris did a great job at celebrating the BBMAs themselves. So, let’s see who has made this year’s BBMAs Best Dressed list!BBMAs Billboard Music Awards 2015

The Best Dressed

Taylor Swift. Yup, no doubt! Taylor surprised me as she walked the red carpet as instead of wearing a stunning gown, TayTay opted for this white cut out jumpsuit by Balmain, which featured all over sequins. The look worked beautiful on her tall frame, to which she added a box clutch that read ‘Bad Blood’ – referencing her new music video’s premiere at the BBMAs, which you can watch here and below too. Taylor added a textured hairstyle & smokey eyes to the look with a silver bangle bracelet by Djula Joaillerie, rings by Ileana Makri and Carrera & Carrera, and Brian Atwood silver platforms to finish. From head to toe, this is perfection! She also swept up the awards as Taylor Swift won the BBMA for Top Artist, Billboard Chart Achievement Award, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for ‘1989’, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Radio Singer Award and Top Streaming Song/Video for “Shake It Off”! So a huge congratulations to Taylor on all that!!

The Hostess with the Mostest

Before hosting the show with Ludacris, Chrissy Teigen stepped out in a Balmain jumpsuit too, which you may remember from Paris Fashion Week last September. Her yellow, black & white ensemble featured a plunging neckline and halterneck finish, that the tall model-presenter styled with a black leather waistbelt. Later during the show, Chrissy had a few outfit changes (as all female hosts do!), first taking stage in this red strapless sweetheart gown with a sheer overlay skirt and a gold waistbelt; then into a white plunging gown with a front leg split; later she wore another Balmain mini dress with a caped detail and plunging neckline; and finally she closed the show in a sexy sheer black look that was all kinds of naughty.

The Femme Suit

The beautiful Olivia Culpo made a red carpet appearance with boyfriend Nick Jonas, as she walked out in a black playsuit by Elie Saab. Wearing an embellished look that matched her straight black hair, the v-cut short one-piece was accented by embellished strap heels, sparkling drop earrings and a dewy glow makeup finish with subtle smokey eyes. I quite love this look, it’s so very awards-appropriate and Olivia pulls it off beautifully.

Giving her strong model face some strong model-worthy attire, Kendall Jenner attended in a longline jacket & thigh-high boots look by H&M X Balmain. The embroidered jacket was definitely the statement piece, and her choice of slicked back hair, subtle smokey eyes & a pink lip colour were the right accessories. This was also a preview for the upcoming collaboration collection by high street favourite H&M and the French brand.

Bonnie McKee showed off her midriff in her sporty luxe two-piece look that she rocked to the BBMAs. The pink-haired singer worked the red carpet in a black crop top with a metallic trim & ruched low-rise capri pants, that gave us plenty of skin. Matching her matte lip to the peeptoe platforms & her Alexander McQueen box clutch with exaggerated lashes, Bonnie looked every bit the part.

Zendaya was on fire as she stepped out in a three-piece ensemble by Fausto Puglisi. Her bandeau top, high-waisted pants and blazer worn on the shoulders featured animal-print with salmon-pink feathery details that were all sorts of fun and totally bang-on for the BBMAs. The only downside is that sun motif belt, that’s similar to what Rita Ora’s dress is adorned with. A slicked down ponytail, powder blue pointed pumps by Manolo Blahnik and turquoise earrings completed the singer’s look. You may remember this look, as Iggy Azalea wore the same pants to the iHeart Radio Music Awards 2015 in March.

I love what actress Liz Hernandez wore to the BBMAs, because she looked so damn good! The Latina beauty wore a cropped high-waisted two-piece that featured geometric pattern throughout with black trims and exposed zipper details, and it was brilliant. I love the cheeky opening on the top, and I love the white & clear pumps with that dark plum lipstick and the effortless combover hairstyle. This is true perfection.

Black Beauties

British singer Estelle attended too, wearing a black sheer gown that featured embroidered floral motifs throughout. The wide plunging neckline was teamed with an embellished waistbelt, though she covered her decolletage with her long straight hair quite well. An assortment of rings and a dual-toned lip colour with a short silver necklace completed the singer’s look. Estelle also performed “Conqueror” & “You’re So Beautiful” with Jussie Smollett and Bryshere ‘Yazz’. Gray, which you can watch here, changing into an outfit by Amanda Wakeley & Bibhu Mohapatra.

Opting for her usual vampy style, Charli XCX wore this vintae black dress with simple straps for the awards. She kept her hair in a messy style with a kohl eyeshadow and red lipstick to finish, along with Vivienne Westwood jewellery. Charli XCX also won the award for Top Rap Song for ‘Fancy’ with Iggy Azalea.

Joining the black dress list, performer & violinist Lindsey Stirling graced the red carpet in this Yousef Aljasmi gown, that featured black & nude mesh panels for a cut out illusion look. The embellished full-length gown also had a leg split at the back that showed off Lindsey’s black strappy heels, which she added a black clutch and gemstone bracelets to. She finished off her look with an updo and big lashes. Lindsey also performed “See You Again” with Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth during the show, which you can watch here.

Giving us quite the Nicki Minaj moment, actress Taraji P. Henson showed up in a cut out bandage dress by Alexandre Vauthier. The figure-hugging gown featured a wide-v neckline and had cut outs along the sides leaving little to the imagination of whether she was or wasn’t. Her smile, curled do and silver jewels completed her BBMAs look. You may remember this exact dress, as Miley Cyrus wore this to the Grammy Awards 2015 back in February.

Giuliana Rancic was in attendance working the red carpet preshow, and she looked fabulous in her black Mugler choice. The part-cut out, part-gown ensemble featured long sleeves and a metallic waistbelt & shoulder strap that were all kinds of fun. The presenter added jewellery by Le Vian and Jack Vartanian and metallic accented sandals by Barbara Bui, finishing off with a straight hairstyle flawless makeup. She might get a lot of stick for being thinner than the other ladies on the red carpet, but I love how Giuliana looks. Stop body-bashing ladies & gents!

White Hot

Actress Laverne Cox was also in attendance, presenting an award during the show, and she looked mighty fierce walking the red carpet in this Marc Bauwer mini dress. The stud & mirror-embellished look featured a plunging neckline and a straight cut on the shoulders for a nod to the punk era, which she amped up with silver metallic pumps and exaggerated eye makeup & red lips.

Singer Tori Kelly attended in an LWD with feathery fringe detail. She added silver & black striped sandals and a silver clutch to the look, rounding up with a soft curly do and subtle smokey eyes. Tori also performed her song “Nobody Love” during the show, which you can watch here.

Joining her friend Taylor Swift, Hailee Steinfeld wore a monochrome look by Givenchy, which featured a crochet lace finish with a black trim and an added black waistbelt. Though she looks nice, I feel nice desn’t cut it for the BBMAs and the young actress is definitely able to give us more. Black cowboy boots, a ponytail hairstyle and winged eyeliner completed her look.

Never one to shy from a cut out dress, singer Rita Ora strutted down the red carpet in this Fausto Puglisi gown with cut outs on the stomach, waist and sides as well as featuring a plunging neckline. The metallic sun motifs added a bit of edginess to the sexy look, which Rita upped the ante of with Old Hollywood glamour curls, scarlet red lipstick, gold jewels from Ileana Makri, Djula, and Carrera y Carerra, and white & gold sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Natalie La Rose was also in attendance, looking good in her silver & white ensemble. The singer wore her purple-hued tight curls with this sparkling mini dress by Yousef Aljasmi. The look featured geometric designs and pavé fringing that swished & swayed with sparkles from every angle. Silver metallic barely there sandals and blue-toned silver eye makeup rounded up Natalie’s look.

Beautiful in Blue

Ok so I will admit I don’t love what Iggy Azalea wore to the BBMAs, because I know she can do so much better than this. Her pastel blue & nude cropped two-piece was pretty, and I do like the embellished swirl design on the skirt, but as an overall look it seemed as though her usual spark was missing. The pink dip-dyed hair and those pink satin pumps really don’t do many favours either. I like, but I don’t love. During the show, Iggy performed her new song “Pretty Girls” with Britney Spears, which you can watch herechanging into a metallic mini dress. Iggy Azalea also won the awards for Top Rap Artist, Top Streaming Artist and Top Rap Song for “Fancy” with Charli XCX.

Attending in one of the brightest colours on the red carpet, Serayah wowed in this turquoise cut out dress that was ever so va va voom. The wrap dress featured cut outs on the sides and keyhole on the front, that hugged her body and cascaded into a train. A pulled back updo with white & black earrings and a matching clutch, the singer-actress worked her natural beauty with exaggerated lashes and a nude pink lip colour.

Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town was also attending in a turquoise hue, as she walked down in this v-cut dress with a matching leg split. The inverted wrap dress was a great fit for the tall blonde, to which she added pink pointed silk ankle strap heels and a matching clutch, silver jewels and dark eye makeup.

Making quite an entrance, Jennette McCurdy glided down the red carpet in this strapless mermaid gown that really was mermaid-like. The gown was completely covered in reflective sequins & beads in hues of blue, with a deep neckline on the bodice. A sideswept wavy hairstyle, neutral makeup and a minimal bracelet were the perfect additions to this look.

The Statement Entrance

Making quite the spectacle, Jennier Lopez stayed true to her sexy entrances in this sparkling & sheer number by Charbel Zoe. Her feather-like motif gown played on skin-baring peekaboo, as the long-sleeved & floor-length dress hugged JLo’s body in all the right places. Yes JLo looks incredible and has an amazing body, but I feel like this is getting boring, and becoming her go-to style which we’ve seen time and time again… Please JLo, give us something new next time round! Sultry eyeshadow & big hair with a silver clutch completed her look.

Also opting for sparkle was Danica McKellar who wore this asymmetrical fully sequined gown that featured a high leg split showing off her nude peeptoe platforms. Dewy makeup, an updo and minimal jewellery were the perfect accessories for this look.

I love what Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev wore to the BBMAs as it was so bold. Her champagne & pastel yellow strapless gown by John Paul Ataker was definitely one you could not miss with its colourblock style and that peplum detail on the waist that merged into the dress. She added an Erin Dana yellow minaudière and earrings by Erickson Beamon to the look, completing her awards attire with platform peeptoes and swept back hair. Gorgeous!

A Splash of Colour

Supporting her good friend Taylor Swift, model Martha Hunt was fresh off the Cannes plane to attend in this rich purple mini dress by Balmain. The tall blonde worked this hourglass-illusion dress beuatifully with black barely there sandals and a black clutch, with fuss-free makeup & hair to boot. Gosh, I really love the hue of that dress.

Also joining TayTay and friends, and also joining the Balmain parade was top model Lily Aldridge, who looked the part in her black & purple ensemble. The sleeveless high neck dress featured a black bodice and a chiffon black & purple striped skirt that had a leg split to show off her long legs and cut out Giuseppe Zanotti heels. A relaxed hairstyle with a gold cuff bracelet and a ‘Frostbite’ Edie Parker clutch, which was a reference to the ‘Bad Blood’ music video as it’s her character’s name.

Liane V attended wearing this plunging red dress by Abyss by Abby from Moda Glam Boutique that had cut out details on the shoulders too, and leg splits for all the world to see those perfectly toned pins. She added black accessories to the classic red & black look, with a minimal necklace down the front and perfectly-applied makeup. Click to buy Liane V’s Billboards Music Awards dress!
