Last night the 21st Annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards were held at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The prestigious awards ceremony was full of the biggest film and TV stars, with many of the ladies stepping it up in time for the big one, which I was ecstatic to see. I was indeed blown away by some of the looks, and also very pleased with the award recipients from this year’s SAG Awards. So who exactly made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed list?
The Best Dressed
Ok. So Emma Stone really got me good. Before I saw a full-length shot of what she was wearing, I thought she had opted for the femme suit, which I would have been delighted with. But then…BAM! She blew me away in her plunging tuxedo jacket dress with that super sheer black train skirt by Christian Dior Couture. To amp the look even more, my favourite redhead wore Christian Louboutin ‘Gardnera’ peep-toe heels and Repossi rings & ear cuffs with a red lip & mani-pedi and a chic ponytail. Just wow!
Camila Alves also blew me away, rocking this Donna Karan Atelier sleeveless sweetheart gown on the red carpet. The sexy model’s deep purple velvet gown hugged her in all the right places, with its draped bustier that also featured an asymmetrical cut along the lower line of the bustier that led into a train. Simple stylings and big lashes completed her va va voom look.
And then there’s Lupita Nyong’o who just stunned in her Elie Saab choice. The striped & printed gown featured a plunging neckline and full sleeves, with a multicoloured floral & artistic print throughout the gown and its full skirt. It was just an explosion of colourful fashion on the young actress. A braided updo, shimmery eye makeup and a pinky-red lipgloss were styled to finish.
Lady in Red
Always one to look fabulous, Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara wore a figure-hugging one-shoulder Donna Karan Atelier, with a peekaboo corseted bustier that featured and gathered detailing. Red always looks great on Sofia, and she added sparkling jewels, classic red lipstick & lined eyes with a straight hairstyle to finish.
Alysia Reiner is making quite a presence on the red carpet, especially so in this Christian Siriano gown. The off-the-shoulders gown featured layered ruffles along the neckline that was a mermaid fit with a flared skirt. Classic sparkling jewellery, a deep curled hairstyle and a shiny red lip completed her look beautifully.
Gwendoline Christie was definitely going for a statement when she attended the SAGs in this red satin gown by Giles. It featured a squared plunging neckline with a halterneck fit, and that overturned sash at the front. Her porcelain skintone definitely allows her to pull off red really well, though I’m just not 100% sold on this look. A 1920s hairstyle, matchy-matchy lipstick & manicure and a purple stone cocktail ring to finish.
Maisie Williams looked very sweet in her laser cut design dress by Self-Portrait with its spaghetti straps and tea dress fit, that showed off her gold metallic pumps. A chic updo and minimal accessories completed her look.
The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting looked gorgeous in her strapless straight-cut column dress by Romona Keveza that also featured a delicate bow waistbelt detail. Her textured cropped do and metallic additions were just perfect, but it’s that beautiful smile of Kaley’s that I love the most. You can just tell she’s at such a happy point in her life! Gorgeous.
Diane Guerrero was also attending in red, donning a scarlet-coloured straight-cut gown that featured quite the va va voom neckline. A white manicure, dark eye makeup, Kallati jewellery and a nude lipstick finished off her red carpet look. Diane Guerrero also won the award for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Comedy Series alongside her costars for ‘Orange is the New Black’.
Black Beauties
Shaun Robinson wore a monochrome look to the SAGs, donning this subtly sexy dress from Lorena Sarbu. The look featured cut outs on the waist with white panels on a black body, and a contrasting white back & train too. A black clutch, silver bangles and white tassel drop earrings completed her look.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus attended in a black lace dress by Monique Lhuillier, that featured sheer lace sleeves and lace detailing on the bodice, with a column skirt finish. Fred Leighton jewellery rounded up her red carpet attire.
Looking gorgeous on the red carpet was Joanne Froggart, who stunned in her black v-cut bustier gown and a gathered-at-the-back fishtail skirt. A silver cuff bracelet and blonde sideswept locks finished her look.
Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner wore a beautiful black dress with an asymmetrically scalloped cut skirt and cut outs on the waist, that suited the young actress perfectly. Her red hair was also sideswept and curled at the bottom, and she added smokey eyes and a mini handbag to finish.
Dame Joan Collins was a surprising attendee to the SAGs, but her fashion was not. Attending in a glittering sequin-covered gown, the look featured a silk sash waistbelt, exaggerated silk capped shoulders and a side split on the skirt too. Adding to her glamorous drama, the Dame also wore black evening gloves and ombré heels by Jimmy Choo. She looked every bit Old & New Hollywood, and I love it.
The Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik attended in a flared skirt gown by Christian Siriano. Her v-cut half-sleeves dress didn’t need much more than her gorgeous green tassel drop earrings and that box clutch, because that black look was a statement all on its own. Just beautiful!
Actress Felicity Huffman definitely didn’t opt for the ballgown attire, looking gorgeous & sophisticated in her Lorena Sarbu midi dress. It featured an embellished neckline and slight off-the-shoulder sleeves, which she wore with black peeptoe heels and a voluminous hairstyle. Felicity Huffman’s husband William H. Macy also won the award for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Comedy Series for ‘Shameless’.
Julia Roberts continued breaking the dress rules, in her black jumpsuit ensemble from Givenchy. A tuxedo-inspired look, the actress added little details opting only for black peeptoe heels, a black clutch & drop earrings, her voluminous hair and that gorgeous smile are honestly what saved her. I’m a bit on the fence for this look…
White Hot
Actress Paula Patton stepped onto the red carpet donning this gorgeous white embellished sleeveless number by Aiisha Ramadan. This look looked just fabulous against her tanned skintone, which she added Jerome C. Rousseau pumps, green drop earrings, Kimberly McDonald jewels and a gold clutch to, with her hair slicked back.
Reese Witherspoon also wore a white dress, opting for this asymmetrical Giorgio Armani look. It featured thick sequin trims and a capped sleeve and she added delicate jewellery by Tiffany & Co and Harry Winston to the look. She finished with red lipstick and a tidy ponytail.
Maggie Gylenhaal continued her lovely red carpet looks with this white longsleeve dress by Thakon. It featured a rectangular mesh panel on the bust, with a hidden slit at the front of the skirt too. Her custom-made dress was styled with black sandals and jewellery by Bvlgari and Fred Leighton.
Blowing me away was Modern Family actress Ariel Winter, who proved how chic a white dress can look on curvy girls. Her ZAC Zac Posen choice worked beautifully on the 16-year-old actress’ silhouette, (yes, she is only 16!), that she teamed with a black Salvatore Ferragamo clutch to match her black manicure, and coral earrings to match her lipstick. Stunning!
Laura Carmichael was also in attendance in white. Her gown featured a halterneck mini dress with a sheer white patterned underlay, which showed off her white barely there sandals. A white manicure, red lipstick and shimmery eye makeup with blonde tousled waves completed her look.
Exquisite & Embellished
Sarah Hyland joined her Modern Family costars on the red carpet, and absolutely killed it in this Vera Wang creation. Her olive-green bodice was covered in silver & black embellishments, and was wide v-cut, and featured a black tulle overlay. I adore this look for Sarah, to which she added Lorraine Schwartz rings & earrings and Brian Atwood shoes, and her chic side bun and large lashes look really finished this off beautifully.
Boardwalk Empire actress Gretchen Mol attended in a silver embellished by Dennis Basso. Her silvery grey gown featured pavé appliqué & embellishments on the main body that faded downwards, which also featured bell sleeves that added so much to the look. The actress didn’t stop there with the sparkles though, adding an Edie Parker clutch, Christian Louboutin heels and Solange Azagury Patridge jewels with red lipstick and lined eyes to finish.
Supporting her husband Andy Samberg, musician Joanna Newsom walked the red carpet looking gorgeous in a simple cut straight-cut dress by Zac Posen that featured all over polka dots in pink & purple hues. What I love about this look most is that chiffon cape. Just wow! Statement drop earrings and a half-up half-down hairstyle with barely there makeup complete her look.
Emmy Rossum headed to the awards in this grey lace gown by Armani Privé, which was intricately laced with iridescent Swarovski Crystals so that the actress shone from whichever angle. Her sparkling collar necklace and loosely pulled-back updo with the smokey eyes ensured she was a definite winner on the red carpet.
Opting for a fully embellished look, singer Jackie Cruz chose to wear designer of the moment Christian Siriano to the SAGs. Her fully sleeved and high scooped neckline gown was an explosion of sequins & beads on a pale yellow body with a slight train that really suited the young actress. Jackie Cruz also won the award for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Comedy Series alongside her costars for ‘Orange is the New Black’.
Joining her costar, Vicky Jeudy wore a gorgeous glittering look from Charbel Zoe Couture. Her dress featured intricately designed turquoise, nude and charcoal panels throughout with see-through panels around the bust and a wide thigh-high cut on the leg too. She added Graziela Gems and EFFY Jewelry jewels to this look, along with a slicked down ponytail and nude barely there sandals. Vicky Jeudy also won the award for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Comedy Series alongside her costars for ‘Orange is the New Black’.
Blue Is Better
Keltie Knight led the way for the girls in blue, looking lovely in this two-tone blue cut out gown from Black Halo. The Insider presenter worked the red carpet in her velvet caped look that matched the velvet panel on the bust, with a keyhole detail and side split on the skirt. An updo and smokey eyes with a pink lip, an egg-shaped clutch and a select few jewels completed her look.
Donning a sparkly number to the awards, Amy Poehler attended wearing Jenny Packham. Her low cut slip dress featured all over crystals on a midnight blue body, to which the actress added silver bangles and minimal earrings.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress Melissa Fumero attended in a two-tone column dress from Maxime Simoens, that featured an asymmetrical black on blue shoulder & bodice design. A Rauwolf clutch and Jacob & Co. jewels, with a slick straight hairstyle completed her look.
Rocking the blue hue, Julianna Margulies wore this gorgeous Giambattista Valli Couture ball gown that featured a front split on the full skirt with a draped detailing along the waist. Her black hair that matched the Jimmy Choo sandals, which together with the sparkling Fred Leighton jewels, really created a winning look for the actress.
Lauren Lapkus looked fab in her midnight blue Badgley Mischka brocade ball gown. It featured a black embellished trimmed scooped neckline and pockets on the hips, which she added minimal jewels to and finished with barely there makeup and a chic updo.
Gorgeous in Green
Joining her Brooklyn Nine-Nine costars, the gorgeous Stephanie Beatriz attended the SAGs wearing this teal-coloured custom-made Johanna Johnson gown. Her strapless dress did sit rather low on her bust, though thankfully she didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction. It featured silk & chiffon panels that looked great against her skin. The slicked back hairstyle, subtle smokey eye, long single-line earrings and gold box clutch were the perfect final touches.
In contrast to her statement look at the Golden Globes, actress Andrea Riseborough wore a pastel minty-hued gown on this red carpet. Her Escada choice was really refreshing with its architectural bow detail on the halter neckline, which she styled with a Swarovski clutch, barely there makeup and an updo.
Similar to Amy Poehler, Julianne Moore wore this simply beautiful scooped neckline gown by Givenchy Couture, covered in sequins & beaded embellishments that faded out at the skirt. Soft tresses and barely there makeup with a cocktail ring and large earrings by Chopard completed her flawless look.
Also wearing green on the red carpet was Homeland actress Claire Danes. She attended wearing Marc Jacobs, with her dress featuring a twisted halterneck, a keyhole cutout on the midriff with a waist-cinching belt and graphic beading down the sides of the gown, all of which was borderline OTT. Her blonde waves, lined eyes and simple jewellery helped save the look.
Pretty in Pink & Purple
Bringing her love of lace to the red carpet again, Keira Knightley wore a dark purple Erdem gown. It featured a v-cut neckline with a mesh panel insert, with layered eyelet lace and shoulder strap ties. The mama to be wore her hair half-up half-down, added an ear cuff and smokey eye makeup to the look, bringing her maternity style to a whole new level.
Charissa Thompson looked fabulous in her hot pink gown by Michael Costello, that was embossed with floral-like textures and featured a high neck and sweeping train. Her blonde updo and dark eye makeup with Jacquie Aiche jewels make this look even more beautiful.
The Big Bang Theory actress Melissa Rauch was in attendance in a two-tone pink dress by Pamella Roland. Her wide sweetheart neckline strapless choice featured a suede bodice and a scooped waistline with a satin straight skirt. The dress really suited the actress’ bodyshape and her curves, which I personally love of course, and her full fringed straight style worked so beautifully.
Natalie Dormer looked like a wonderful artistic canvas walking the red carpet, in her white satin asymmetrical gown that featured a colourful explosion of paint-like design on the bodice and upper-half of the skirt, which featured soft pleats. Her bronze smokey eyes & quiff-topped mermaid waves and minimal jewellery were the perfect finish. Ooh how I loved this look!
Sheen & Sheer
Kimiko Glen walked the red carpet in this stunning Gemy Maalouf strapless sweetheart neckline gown, which also featured a cascading tulle ruffle on the hip that adds so much to the look. Her voluminous hair, barely there makeup and minimal accessories created an absolutely flawless look. Love!
TV presenter Maria Menounous attended in a gorgeous Romona Keveza strapless gown that featured a brocade pattern throughout. She added Neil Lane jewellery with a mid-parted straight hairstyle and dark eye makeup to finish, which really worked beautifully together.
Molly Parker also attended, wearing a stunning Lorena Sarbu blush-coloured gown the featured delicate sheer floral appliqué lace along the neckline, sleeves, down the right side of the dress and into an asymmetrical skirt. Simple styling completed this look and it’s just gorgeous!
Modern Family actress Julie Bowen wore an embellished dress from Georges Hobeika Couture in blush hues and an altered skirt to the runway version, which she added a Rauwolf clutch to. Beautiful!
Actress Felicity Jones attended in this beautiful Balenciaga column dress, that featured a crisscross & off-the-shoulder bodice. The fit and colour of this look are what I love about it, because it’s simplistic but very beautiful. Van Cleef & Arpels pearl drop earrings with a chic pulled back hairstyle and pink lip colour finished this perfectly.
