Yesterday evening the British Fashion Awards took place in London town. The red carpet was full of famous faces from singers to designers, actresses to businesswomen and the fashion itself was smoking! There were so many best dressed ladies & gentlemen that it’s hard to keep up. So who exactly made the Killer Fashion best Dressed List, and who also won big on the night?
Monochrome Madness
Emma Watson kicked things off in her white Misha Nonoo jumpsuit, that she wore with a black tuxedo jacket. Her oversized jacket does no favours for her, however once removed the white plunging jumpsuit that cinched in on the waist that could easily be mistaken for a dress. A gold body chain, scarlet red lipstick and sideswept hair completed her beautiful look. Emma also won British Style Award of the Year.
Victoria Beckham in Victoria Beckham. It’s really the only choice when attending awards that VB wear her own designs. She wore a streamlining high-neck oversized black sweater over a black & white pleated skirt with pushed-up sleeves and a chain-link belt with smokey eyes and a chic updo. Victoria also won Brand of the Year for Victoria Beckham.
Irish gal Angela Scanlon made her way to the British Fashion Awards donning a black two-piece by Isa Arfen. The wrap over belted top featured fringed pockets with white, black & green beading that she wore with black ankle-grazing pants and Hugo Boss strappy sandals. She held a box handbag by Aspinal of London and kept her hair chic with soft mid-parted bangs.
Charlotte Olympia shoe designer Charlotte Dellal attended in a black lace number, with a not-so-square neckline, half-sleeves and cut-up fringe skirting, which showed off her bronze satin Charlotte Olympia heels that matched her signature pin-up copper hair. A red lip & manicure complimented her own designed face box clutch.
Actress Gwondline Christie attended in black, wearing a floor-length gown that featured short fringed swirl embellishments. Scarlet red manicure with a simple bracelet, a black box clutch and smokey eyes completed her look.
Opting for a black & white mix, Sophia Webster wore a mix and match spotted midi look. Naturally she wore her own designed shoes, donning a pair of hot pink bead embellished ankle strap sandals that showed off her lilac mani-pedicure. A messy braided updo, and dark pink lipstick finished off this ensemble.
Alexa Chung attended in a silver shimmer gown by Emilia Wickstead. Her lined alternative to the runway version featured a peter pan collar and a middle-split which showed off her Charlotte Olympia black shoes and matching designer statement ‘Take Me Away’ clutch. Red lipstick and simply brushed hair completed this look.
Bianca Brandolini D’Adda wore a casual but sexy look to the awards, wearing a sheer low-cut top with an exposed balcony bralette and a fringed & beaded mini skirt from Balmain, accented together by a leather belt. Strappy sandals, a gold necklace and long sideswept hair finished off this fierce look.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell was also in attendance, stunning in a half-embellished half-satin gown by Alexander McQueen. The custom-made dress featured peekaboo sheer lines throughout, with a strappy corset-like bodice that she wore with über long mermaid hair extensions, an array of sparkling jewellery and smokey eyes.
Opting for sexy in Tom Ford, singer Rita Ora wore a runway-to-red carpet look in this black & sheer gown. It featured an embellished black leather top, side cutouts and a sheer midriff panel with a high slit that showed off her stockings. She wore a long black scarf to the back and metallic platform sandals and finished with smoldering black eye makeup. Honestly, I’m not too big a fan of the overall look.
A Splash of Colour
Blogger Chiara Ferragni looked lovely in her black but colourful choice from Peter Pilotto. The capped shoulders mini featured neon coloured embroidery in abstract art and Celtic-like knotted ribbons. She matched black suede artistic sandals by Nicholas Kirkwood and a book clutch to the look, with large lashes & top liner and nude lipstick finishing it all off. I love this!
Also opting for an abstract colourful look was Alexia Niedzielski. The tall Brazilian wore a creative dress that featured leaf printed top and a geometric panelled skirt with floral appliqué and a triangular cut out on the waist. She held a mini handbag, wore black suede kriss cross booties and kept her hair straight strong brows & nude lips.
British blogger Susanna Lao wore a girly look by Meadham Kirchhoff in reflective leather that featured peplum-like slight pleating on the skirt and sleeves in a mix of red, pink, purple & silver colours. Black tights, black & pink embellished heels by Miu Miu and a pale pink suede & fur clutch by Shrimps finished off her look.
Top model Erin O’Connor chose to wear a pastel orange crepe gown by Emilia Wickstead, that featured a v-cut neckline, built-in waistband and peplum details on the waist. She held a black box clutch, wore a deep scarlet red lipstick and zero jewels on the night.
Annabelle Wallis wore a stunning colourful embroidered dress by Christopher Kane to the awards. The mixed floral number cut off above knee and looked beautiful on the actress. She held her fur jacket and black clutch in one hand, while posing with the other showing off her black manicure that matched her patent heels.
British actress Naomie Harris wore a bespoke dress by Peter Pilotto. Her pink rainbow dress featured swiss lace with Swarovski crystals embellishments.
Michelle Dockery looked lovely in her black, lime & moss green gown, designed by Erdem. The leafy motif dress featured capped sleeves and cut off above the ankles showing off her black pumps that matched the black box clutch perfectly.
Ever the fashionista, Olivia Palermo wore Emilia Wickstead on the night, donning a front-slit lemon-yellow ball skirt with a black sparkly shirt. Smoky eyes and a straight, centre-parted hairstyle finished up the look along with a striped statement clutch.
Nicole Scherzinger attended in Julien Macdonald, wearing a sheer silvery-grey midi with all over floral appliqué in silver, grey and purple. The asymmetrical ruffled neckline added great oomph to this look, which Nicole wore with matching purple lipstick and nude pumps.
Bold in Berry
Eyelash expert Tanya Burr was also at the ceremony, walking the red carpet in a blood orange hue mini dress, with slight flaring on the skirt that compliments her curves beautifully. The off-the-shoulder look by Christian Dior was teamed with beige & turquoise pointed pumps by Manolo Blahnik and an envelope clutch with eyelashes motifs from Lulu Guinness.
Model Sam Rollinson showed off her feminine side in this Topshop mini dress. The sheer ruffled details really are a girly twist to the look, adding texture to the simple satin shift dress. Black barely there sandals, a black metallic clutch and subtle smokey eyes finished off the runway model’s look.
Tali Lennox also opted for red, showing off her back in this bodice-patterned dress. The open back dress featured sheer sleeves with glittery four-leaf clovers and kriss cross patterns that ended along the waistline. The tall beauty wore nude patent heels, a side braided hairstyle and red lipstick to finish.
Looking fabulous in pink, Laura Bailey wore this A-line full-length gown by Emilia Wickstead. The dress featured clean lines with a slight pleated skirt, which the tall blonde wore with minimal jewellery, held a black box clutch and opted for dramatic eyes, a tangerine lip colour and a brushed back updo. I adore how she let the dress do all the talking by not over accessorizing.
One of my favourite ladies Tamsin Egerton looked wondrous in a ivory & red look by Natasha Zinko. Her ivory bodice featured frayed-like lines, with a scarlet red fishtail midi skirt that matched perfectly with her red lips. An ivory & black clutch, black sandals and windswept waves completed this look. And I absolutely love it!
The Femme Suit
Twiggy was in attendance for the awards, donning a tailored look. Her black suit jacket was left open to show off the white ruffled blouse & red velvet waistcoat, that were amped up with white studded brogues. I love this laid back look on the model, it’s totally age-appropriate while still being fun.
Ashley Madekwe looked fabulous in her ivory femme suit by Banana Republic. She wore a plunging waistcoat sans shirt with high-waisted flared pants and kept with the trend of wearing the jacket on her shoulders. I love the high shine of the lapels and her skintone against the suit is just gorgeous. A sidesweep with dark red lipstick completed this look. Beautiful!
Singer and CFDA-winner Jessie Ware also attended in masculine threads, donning a suit by Topshop. Her relaxed fit was worn with an open-to-the-navel white shirt that complimented the slim lapels of the jacket. Barely there sandals, a burgundy red lip and a contrasting blue & black clutch rounded up her ensemble.
Stunning in a white femme suit, singer Ella Eyre showed off her figure in high street favourite River Island. Yes, you read that right; River Island! Her white suit featured ankle-grazing pants, a closed jacket to show off her black low-cut bralette and a black & white faux fur coat that was worn on the shoulders. I love that she opted for red lipstick and a matching mani-pedi, with gold barely there sandals a tassel box clutch. Fabulous!
Rihanna was a surprise to the awards, as she stole the show in her black velvet boxy number by one of her fave, Stella McCartney. Her plunging tuxedo jacket was worn sans shirt or pants, as she opted for sheer black tights and a lot of Giuseppe Zanotti bling. Her lime green nails were the only colour the CFDA winner wore, as she held a black fringed bag and wore black sandals too.
Sheen & Sheer and Pastel Perfect
The Saturdays’ singer Mollie King wore a gorgeous Patricia Bonaldi peekaboo gown that featured soft gold metallic embroidery. A sheer overlay on the skirt gave a glance at her black strappy sandals that complimented her choice of dark red lipstick & nails, which she finished off with a slicked back hairstyle. Nailing all the trends here Mollie!
Laura Carmichael opted for a matchy-matchy cornflower blue look, donning a Christopher Kane dress, which features a tulle skirt, peplum details on the skirt and upper bodice and is fitted. The fair-haired beauty wore matching blue heels and a round clutch, both of which were also worn in the runway look.
Actress Anna Kendrick arrived in a pretty in pink midi dress by Victoria Beckham, adding very little accessories to this simply chic look. The strapless blush pink dress was worn with matching Christian Louboutin pumps and clutch in a soft gold shade, with a clean updo and soft dark pink lipstick.
Laura Haddock looked very Old Hollywood glamorous in her soft green silk & lace dress by Ermanno Scervino. The v-cut wrap dress featured sheer lace sleeves with matching neckline and side panels but also featured an open back with a large bow tie at the bottom, which she wore with a side swept hairstyle, dark red lips and mini drop earrings. Gorgeous!
Model Daisy Lowe looked lovely in her nude choice, opting for Antonio Berardi. Her dress featured an asymmetrical cut on the neckline, with a thigh-high split on the front of the dress, showing off her leather pumps, which she wore with contrasting red lipstick & nails to match her nude & red heart round clutch by Charlotte Olympia.
Kylie Minogue also stepped out in a soft hue, donning Stella McCartney satin frock with a waterfall cut ruffle pleated skirt. A glamorous hairstyle, pink lipstick and stunning copper platform heels rounded up this look.
Lily Allen looked quite ladylike in her pale blue Vivienne Westwood gown. It featured a cowl neckline, with a short cut on the dress with a caped back resulting in a high-low look. She wore matching designer beige & turquoise heels and held a gold metallic chain clutch, with tiny pink devil horn clips in her orange hair.
Showing off in sheer blue, model Suki Waterhouse attended wearing Burberry Prorsum. Her tiered and pleated navy ombré frock was quite see-through, and featured an upstanding collar that she clashed with gold heels that were clearly too big for her, and a denim blue handbag.
Victoria’s Angels
Liya Kebede wore vibrant coral on the red carpet, attending in Louis Vuitton. Her embellished loose fit dress was quite boho-esque that she wore with statement earrings and black knee-high boots.
Karolina Kurkova wore a tangerine & red velvet accented starpless gown with an asymmetrical cut skirt and exaggerated knot on the front. She wore red barley there sandals to not only matched the dress but also her lipstick, which seemed like the only makeup the fresh-faced model wore.
Joining her fellow VS Angels, Lily Donaldson wore a black strapless bodysuit dress that featured a full-length glittering embellished sheer overlay. Black sandals, and dewy makeup completed this model’s look.
One of my favourite VS Angels, Joan Smalls, looked fierce from head to toe, donning a cut out dress by Tom Ford. Her low scooped neckline was matched by cut outs on the waist, hips and that super risqué side split, which the leggy model wore with Givenchy barely there sandals, a Rauwolf clutch, smoldering eye makeup and red lipstick.
Although not walking the Victoria’s Secret show this year, Cara Delevingne attended the awards in a glittery Burberry dress that featured a graphic black panel and a thigh-high split. Black t-bar sandals, a box clutch, straight sideswept hair and smokey eyes completed this look. Cara also won Model of the Year.
Karlie Kloss stepped out in a silky metallic backless gown. The panelled structure of the dress added to the dress, which also featured tassel adorned ties at the back of her sweeping train choice. Gold metallic sandals, simple gold jewels and a dewy makeup finish was perfect for this VS Angel.
