The Christmas Tag

Thanks to Amy of Red Lips; Red Hair blog for tagging me! (Notice her lovely header, as designed by me!) This Christmas tag really has me in the mood now, especially now that the temperatures are getting colder, the Christmas lights have been officially turned on and hot chocolates are being drunk more often. So here we go, 10 Christmas Q&A and tag five bloggers!

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

Weirdly enough The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my absolute favourites! I’m a sucker for Tim Burton films, and this is a great film at both Halloween & Christmas. But more traditionally, I also like Elf starring Will Ferrell, and the classic 1994 The Santa Clause starring Tim Allen.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas Day! It used to be right after breakfast, a tradition my Mam loved, but nowadays it’s around midday. The run around of Christmas morning can be hectic with my Grandpa in the nursing home and my uncles & aunts living far away, but we make it happen.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

Definitely any Christmas in my old grandparents’ house. They used to own Ballygassan House, in Annagassan, Co. Louth. And Christmas there was always an amazing time. The drawing room had the Christmas tree, my brother and I were the only nephew & niece/grandchildren and so we were rather spoilt. I remember setting out cookies & milk at the fireplace on Christmas Eve, and then by morning when we were allowed into the drawing room, there were sooty bootprints, crumbs and an empty glass awaiting. And of course all the presents!

4. Favourite festive food?

Definitely Christmas dinner! I love stuffing, roast potatoes, the ham & cranberry sauce and for dessert my Grandpa used to make a special trifle for me in mind! Yum!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

It’s very hard to just pick one. After my Mam was diagnosed with cancer, every Christmas was a gift, as she was still with us to celebrate, but more so still there for me to hug, cuddle and laugh with. After she passed away…probably my Christian Louboutin heels.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

Cinnamon & gingerspice scented candles and freshly baked cookies.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Usually to watch a good movie with a hot cuppa or hot chocolate, but nothing too specific.

8. What tops your tree?

We have this lovely gold glittering lattice star treetopper with red beads.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

Hmm gosh, I’m not sure. Probably something Barbie-related!

10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Being with my family, because I cherish them a lot. But also the dinner, the parties with festive spirits, you know I’m a sucker for dressing up. I love the ice skating rinks around too and adore when it snows!
