On Friday evening, the 18th annual Hollywood Film Awards took place at the Hollywood Palladium in downtown Los Angeles, to celebrate all things film for this past year. The red carpet was filled with movie stars, music artists and all of the behind-the-scenes professionals, and the fashion was a delightful turn out. So who made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed list, and who won big on the night?
Monochrome Madness
Skipping the red carpet, Angelina Jolie presented on stage during the ceremony, donning a beautiful strapless gown by Atelier Versace. Her column dress was extremely figure hugging, styled with a chic bun and Angie’s signature smokey eyes and nude pink lip. Beautiful!
The ever-sophisticated Janelle Monae attended the awards in pure black & white, donning a Kate Spade New York shirt dress with a pussy bow and contrasting buttons. She teamed this look with a matching designer Kate Spade New York chessboard clutch, Jimmy Choo sandals and jewellery by Neil Lane and Kwiat. Red lipstick, big lashes and naturally tight-curled hair under her Gladys Tamez hat finished off her red-carpet ready look perfectly. Janelle also performed during the awards, and won Hollywood Song Award for “What Is Love” from Rio 2.
The sexy & sultry Emily Ratajkowski wore a Diane von Furstenberg jumpsuit for the awards. Her sweetheart neckline fitted one-piece featured slight cut outs under the bodice that looked fabulous on the actress, which she styled with a Jimmy Choo clutch and a cocktail ring by Norman Silverman Diamonds, red lipstick and smokey cat eye makeup.
Opting for a regal white look, actress Keira Knightley wore a Giambatista Valli dress that featured a silk bodice with billowing sleeves and Asian-inspired floral embellishments and a lace-textured skirt. The ankle-grazing gown showed off her silver strappy sandals, with which she styled Harry Winston jewels, bronze smokey eyes and deep waves to finish. Keira also won Hollywood Supporting Actress Award for The Imitation Game.
Julianne Moore was also in attendance in white, wearing a crisp clean Balenciaga gown with sheer sleeves and an above-the-knee cut. She didn’t stop there with the white; styling with white sandals and a white box clutch, Harry Winston jewellery and matching her red lips & mani-pedicure to her fiery red hair. Julianne also won Hollywood Actress Award for Still Alice.
The beautiful Jennifer Lopez also attended the awards, looking fabulous in her Zuhair Murad dress. It featured a sheer bodice with a black embroidered floral appliqué and a high-waisted midi skirt. I’m glad JLo wore a nude bandeau underneath, which altogether matched her Brian Atwood heels and array of Norman Silverman and EFFY Jewelry jewels. Red lipstick and soft curls completed her look.
Felicity Jones attended in a black Alexander McQueen gown, which featured an embellished bodice with capped sleeves, bodysuit and a sheer chiffon skirt. A neatly tucked straight hairstyle, smokey eyes and nude lips were matched with a black manicure and box clutch, as well as Brian Atwood heels.
Taryn Southern also opted for monochrome, wearing a black velvet sweetheart crop top with a high-waisted white mid skirt. Thick black ankle strap sandals and a high ponytail finished her simplistic black & white look.
Young Teala Dunn was also on the monochrome fashion train, attending in a white mini dress. It features a lace overlay and scooped neckline, which she wore with black platform heels, a ringlets hairstyle and red lipstick to finish.
Choosing a lighter monochrome medium, Kristen Stewart wore Chanel to the awards. Her white mini dress features a grey mesh-beaded halterneck crop top that matches the grey trim on the skirt, as well as her Casadei heels. Smokey eyes, a combed-over hairstyle and sparkling rings completed the actress’ red carpet look.
A Splash of Colour
TV presenter Keltie Knight was a beautiful sight, wearing a lemon yellow tiered strapless gown by Leanne Marshall on the night. Her sweetheart look featured pleated bodice and three tiers, which she showed off by giving us a spin on the red carpet. Exaggerated lashes, dewy makeup and a chic combed-over hairstyle completed her look.
Young actress Lia Marie Johnson looked sexy but sweet in a lace mini slip dress. Her red carpet look was a tad risqué but the leggy blonde toned it down with neutral makeup and minimal accessories, donning nude sandals and a subtle pink-red lipstick with a tousled sideswept do.
Beautiful actress Jing Tian looked wondrous in her two-tone dress. The v-cut sleeveless gown was floor sweeping and featured all over floral appliqué in smokey grey at the front and soft red at the back, worn with a metallic gold waistbelt. Though I wish the belt had been silver, the Asian actress tied the look together with a soft red lip & matching manicure and a pewter metallic clutch to finish. Jing also won Hollywood International Award.
Renee Bargh wore a beautifully cut dress to the awards. Her blue midi featured soft pleated capped sleeves, a plunging neckline with mesh insert, and cut outs on the skirt. The ever trending slicked back hairstyle was styled with her look, along with top liner & barely there makeup that funnily enough matcher her black barely there sandals. Minimal jewellery and a white manicure completed her look.
Opting for a midnight blue gown, multi talented Laura Dern looked great in her tulle organza dress. Her strapless dress featured a ruched bodice and a waterfall cut skirt showing off her sheer & green striped peeptoe sandals. She held a turquoise clutch, wore minimal jewels and kept her hair & makeup quite neutral.
Amy Adams wore a pale blue & red printed tweed-like midi dress by Christian Dior for her sophisticated ceremony look. Her Bordeaux red suede pumps by Paul Andrew and Bvlgari jewels were the perfect styling for this look, which she wore with a chic updo and fresh-faced makeup.
Actress Reese Witherspoon was a bright star on the red carpet in her matching red & black J. Mendel tea dress. The strapless two-tone was styled with a straight hairstyle, black pumps and smokey eyes, a nude lip and Harry Winston jewellery to finish.
Metallic Mania
The queen of presenting, Queen Latifah, looked stunning on the red carpet in her blush-hued Badgley Mischka mermaid gown. It featured decorative gold and silver embellishments with a tulle skirting. Queen Latifah hosted the show as well, so her clean ponytail and dewy makeup was the perfect finish.
Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank looked wondrous in a fully embellished midi dress by Nicholas Oakwell Couture. The silver floral appliqué dress also featured hints of pink & green sequins, which was a beautiful touch to the look that Hilary matched with a hot pink Judith Leiber Couture clutch, jewels by Graziela Gems and Christian Louboutin heels to complete. Just beautiful!
Looking white hot was Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who wore Reem Acra supporting her husband on the night. The gown featured an embellished bodice, a fluid white silk skirt and a nude-coloured illusion cut out. A sideswept do, smokey kohl-rimmed eyes and a nude lip & matching manicure rounded up her sexy red carpet look.
Actress Shailene Woodley wore a beautiful gown by Valentino. Her plunging gown featured sequin stars all over with sheer half-sleeves that created quite the feminine silhouette on the young starlet. She kept her styling, hair & makeup simple, which spoke wonders with the dress.
Luciana Pedraza stunned in her fully sequin embellished gown. Mrs. Robert Duvall supported her husband but had all eyes on her on the red carpet, with her side split, short train and sparkling jewels that she wore with the dress. A slicked back hairstyle and metallic sandals & clutch completed her look perfectly.
Shaun Robinson donned a gorgeous mini dress by Lorena Sarbu. Her choice featured a navy body with a sheer panel running asymmetrically from her shoulders and round the side of the dress, which was heavily embellished around the waist, and all over elsewhere. She matched a windswept hairstyle with kohl-rimmed eyes, a nude lipgloss and sparkly barely there sandals.
