I’m very sad to hear that fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, aged 82, has died. He passed away leaving his wife, his son and step-children behind, after years of amazing contribution to the fashion industry. The Dominican American designer has been one of my favourites for years now, notably for his feminine ballgowns. He is one of the few handful of designers who spanned his fashion work over decades; become internationally known in the 1960s as one of the couturiers to dress Jackie Kennedy, and I’ll always remember the red carpet dresses with those wow factor moments that would leave you speechless. Only last month did his now-last-ever fashion show walk during Oscar de la Renta was also a fighter of cancer, something I can relate to, and therefore know that now he can rest peacefully. My thoughts & love go out to his family, Annette Engelhard, his son Moises de la Renta and his stepchildren and extended family.

Oscar de la Renta, a renowned American fashion designer famed for his glamorous red-carpet gowns and smart suits for ladies who lunch, died Monday evening at the age of 82, a spokeswoman for his fashion house confirmed.
Mr. de la Renta died just a few weeks after he named a new designer to replace him at his eponymous brand.
Possibly the U.S.’s most noted fashion designer, Mr. de la Renta managed to stay relevant for more than six decades. Even in his final days, he was the go-to designer for celebrity brides and socialites who flocked to his rich, ever-feminine designs, which radiated wealth and power.
