The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Monday night in the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. The show was hosted by Seth Meyers, one of my favourite comedians from the Saturday Night Live family, who was also joined by many of his SNL comrades on stage. Breaking Bad won biggest on the night, though some of my über favorites also won awards. But the red carpet is where the action really was, so read on to see who made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed list for this year’s Emmy Awards.
Lady in Red
Giuliana Rancic donned a red-hot dress with a straight neckline by Gustavo Cadile. Her structured strapless also features an exaggerated plated train skirt. Her ruby Perspex clutch by Rauwolf matches her dress so well.
Marchesa and Neil Lane jewellery dressed actress Christina Hendricks. As she explained, “it had an Indian, sari-feel to it”, and she couldn’t be more right; the designs were beautiful against her porcelain skin and voluptuous curvy body.
Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland opted for a fresh young two-piece ensemble, consisting of a white crop top and full red skirt by Christian Siriano. The look was perfect for the show as well as totally age-appropriate. I adore the twisted top bun and her soft smokey eyes with that mauve lip. Just beautiful!
Claire Danes looked red-hot wearing French fashion house Givenchy. Her gown featured a lace overlay with embellishment on the neckline, mesh panels on the waist as well as a waistbelt, accentuating her statuesque physique beautifully.
Camila Alves & Matthew McConaughey always look pristine and their outfits for the Emmys was just as pristine as ever. Camila wore one of my favourite designers, Zuhair Murad, donning a white mesh cut out gown that also features a scalloped neckline, a thin white waistbelt and a white ALDO clutch.
Sofía Vergara attended in a white Roberto Cavalli structured strapless gown that featured silver accents, with Lorraine Schwartz dazzling earrings, gold shimmery eyeshadow and red lipstick.
Lizzy Caplan blew me away in her black & white Donna Karan Atelier ball gown. The dress was black on the front, white on the back, and fabulous from head to toe! It featured cut outs on the waist and a halter neckline that looked great on the Emmy nominee. She kept the accessories to a minimum and added a sleek updo to her smokey eye makeup.
Debra Messing looked lovely in a deep navy by Angel Sanchez with architectural mesh lines that were complimented in her Judith Lieber clutch, and Chopard jewels. I love how the colours really help her fiery red hair stand out.
Julia Roberts wore an amazingly beautiful two-tiered navy mini dress with all over beaded embellishment and a plunging neckline, also wearing one of my favourite designers, Elie Saab Couture. She was one of the only ladies baring legs and looked fantastic doing so. Julia is by far one of my best dressed on the night.
Modern Family actress Julie Bowen wearing Peter Som with a keyhole plunging detail and a halter neckline in a chic blurred floral print. She styled her look with accessories by Rauwolf and Jacob & Co.
Pretty in Pink
Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore a raspberry gown by Carolina Herrera, with burgundy patent leather accents. A Lee Save clutch and jewels by Lorraine Schwartz finished off her look.
Supermodel Heidi Klum looked hot in coral wearing Zac Posen, who was also her date for the evening. Her dress featured angel wing-like cape at the back and was sleek & chic from head to toe.
Actress Minnie Driver donned Marchesa in a coral pink hue with an embellished v-cut neckline, which she styled with a chich half up-half down ‘do. Just beautiful!
The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting looked very pretty in pink wearing Monique Lhuillier. Her embroidered sweetheart strapless also featured tulle layers that she wore with Chelsea Paris sandals, a Swarovski clutch, Graziela Gems and Jennifer Fisher jewellery, barely there makeup and a nude pink lip.
Newly announced mama-to-be Hayden Panettiere walked the red carpet in beautiful silver shimmering pregnancy dress, custom made by Lorna Sarbu. Her gown featured wide plunging neckline with capped shoulders, but it was her smile that really shone through. She styled her hair in a beach-hair updo with a hairband and barely there makeup.
Taylor Schilling attended in Zuhair Murad, wearing a fully embellished haltergown with Forevermark Diamonds jewellery. Smokey eyes and a chic updo finished the actress’ look.
Gwen Stefani also attended and wore Versace, a shimmery all-over Swarovski gown with gold accented plunging neckline. She was also channeling Donnatella Versace with her dead-straight blonde hair.
Funny gal Amy Poehler wore Irish designer Theia to the show, donning a fully embellished wide v-cut dress in shimmering silver. She also joined Seth Meyers on stage for a comedic presentation.
Young actress Alexandra Daddario wore a nude Reem Acra gown with a black lace appliqué on the side that was just beautiful! She added a pop of red lipstick and large lashes that really made her blue eyes pop, with a sideswept hairstyle.
A Splash of Colour
Halle Berry stunned in a gathered powdery lilac purple by Elie Saab, with a halter neckline and waistband. Her signature pixie cut was a little longer on the front but the actress still looked sexy without too much va va voom.
Cat Deeley really swept me away in her gradient Burberry gown. The v-cut organza gown was perfectly romantic and suitable for the hot weather in LA, and Cat’s styling was truly on-point too; a twisted updo hairstyle, Jimmy Choo and Bvlgari accessories.
Funny gal Sarah Silverman looked super sexy in a deep forest green plunging wide-v by Marni that also features an embellished waistbelt. Her black hair fell down around her face and just added to the sexiness. Sarah also won for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special for ‘Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles’.
Mayim Bialik was such a beauty on the red carpet wearing a royal blue Oliver Tolentino lace dress. She styled the gown with Marcia Moran ring & earrings, an Erickson Beamon necklace and a Swaroviski clutch. I really love this look the Modern Family & Emmy nominee wore to the show.
Keke Palmer also looked fab in her Rubin Singer gown. The dress featured a squared v-cut plunge and an exaggerated fishtail skirting in a royal blue hue. I adore Keke’s styling choices too; Chopard jewellery, Jimmy Choo heels and she held a Swarovski clutch.
Kerry Washington looked beautiful four months post-baby, donning an orange Prada creation. Her dress featured interesting blue, green and clear details and an underlying navy embellished mini skirt. Her shorter
Teyonah Parris wore an amazingly neon creation by Christiano Siriano. Her pink & yellow strapless featured a mermaid column dress with a cape skirt that just looked stunning against her beautifully dark complexion. I also love her top knot hairstyle and fierce posing.
