This past week, the annual Irish Rose of Tralee International Festival took place, where over 70 beauties took part in the international competition. On Monday & Tuesday night the final 30 ladies took part in the show, which was televised for worldwide viewing. And last night Philadelphia Rose, Maria Walsh, was crowned the winner & International Rose of Tralee 2014! The American-Irish Boston native, who moved to County Mayo, wore an absolutely beautiful white & mocha scooped neck tea dress for the final show and was definitely memorable with her pixie cut, which stood out on the night against all the long locks and updos. Maria Walsh is the first Philadelphia Rose to win the title, and received her honorary sash, crown and bouquet with a shocked reaction, but smiling from ear to ear as host Daithí Ó Sé walked her down the aisle to her family & friends, who of course were rejoicing with tears & laughter. Some compared Maria to Hollywood’s Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway, and I sure agree! She has the same poise and elegance, as well as of course that brunette pixie cut.
Congratulations Maria Walsh, enjoy your new title as International Rose of Tralee 2014!
