On Sunday evening the Billboard Music Awards 2014 took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It was a sunny evening with some of the big names in music & TV walking the red carpet in summer-ready attire. Although a lot of the queens and kings of the music industry didn’t show, it was still a great night of celebrations and award winners. So, who made Killer Fashion’s Best Dressed list?
Country legend Shania Twain showed up in a slinky black full-length by Roberto Cavalli. The dress featured leopard print detailing on the knit sleeves and lower skirting, with a sweetheart shaped main body. A dewy makeup complimented her voluminous do and nude manicure.
Jordin Sparks also donned black, choosing a glitzy mini dress from Michael Costello designs. Her halter bodycon featured sequin embellishment was a real figure-hugging dress, and was well complimented by her Stuart Weitzman sandals, a neon orange & silver Beirn Lucite clutch and jewels by Neil Lane. The smiling singer-turned-actress finished with a braided ponytail and kohl-rimmed eyes.
Black was the colour of the night, with newlywed & singer Kelly Rowland also opting for the darkest of darks, in her Cushnie et Ochs bralet and Fausto Puglisi skirt ensemble. Her risqué bralet was complimented by the full skirt with its side split, which showed off her Manolo Blahnik pumps. Kelly styled an abundance of Ofira & Lorraine Schwartz gold bangles, bracelets and earrings, smokey eyes and a nude lip.
Nicki Minaj wore another Alexander McQueen dress with cut out features. Her more demure fashion direction is still sexy without being over the top, although the underboob was slightly pushing it… She wore her hair in Old Hollywood glamour waves, dewy barely there makeup and shiny gold cuffs.
Kesha looked super demure on the red carpet, donning Ines Di Santo. Her strapless sweetheart mermaid gown featured black embroidered flowers on the grey bodice with an exaggerated tulle overlay fishtail from the knees. I really love this look on the singer, I’m enjoying her more tamed direction not only in fashion but as an artist. She styled her off-pink do up loosely with minimal accessories by Carbon & Hyde and Dionea Orcini and smokey eyes.
Actress Kristen Alderson attended the soiree in a black leather dress. Her textured sweetheart mini dress featured spikes along the bodice for extra edge, which she teamed with chain necklaces and simple peeptoe pumps.Kristen opted for dramatic eye makeup and a straight blow dry, golden hoop earrings and a pink lip.
Lindsey Stirling was all smiles as she walked the red carpet in an all black everything ensemble. The multi-talented musician wore faux leather leggings with a textured chiffon t-shirt that featured an oversized floral organza on the shoulder, and finished with cross strappy platforms. Lindsey styled her hair into a voluminous updo with her full fringe in play, dark eyes and chunky bracelets.
Andi Dorfman wore a black & gold mini dress. Her textured dress was embellished with intricate gold beading and detailed crystals creating Aztec-like shapes, as well as an embellished neckline. The socialite finished the look with chain-adorned sandals, dewy makeup and loose curls.
Radio presenter & red carpet correspondent Rocsi Diaz attended wearing a black cut out midi dress from the Cushnie et Ochs collection. Her halterneck dress looked great on the DJ’s body, which she complimented with Manolo Blahnik sandals and simple bracelets, a hairbun and red lipstick.
Bold in Colour
My beloved Lucy Hale also attended, looking summery in an Alex Perry tricoloured midi dress. Her lace textured dress featured a wide v-cut neckline with navy on the bust, canaray yellow on the waist and baby pink from there. The Pretty Little Liars actress (and now Road Between country singer) styled her hair into a bouncy sidesweep and accessorized with pink lipstick, silver jewels by EF Collection, Effy Jewelery & Graziela, a Charlotte Olympia ‘Pandora’ perspex box clutch and navy ‘Barely There’ sandals. Super cute!
Modern Family star Sarah Hyland donned a sophisticated look by Emilio Pucci. Her cropped jacket and skirt featured metallic bronze & blue zig zag patterns with gold-on-black zip detailing, gold lining and black trims, which she wore with a simple wide v-cut cami. Sarah kept to the bling with shiny laced up Oscar Tiye gold sandals, a black & gold box clutch Tyler Alexandra and jewellery by Lorraine Schwartz & XIV.
Carrie Underwood walked the red carpet with fellow country singer Miranda Lambert, in a neon yellow & gunmetal grey embellished gown. Her Oriett Domenech creation featured striking art deco detailing on the bodice and shoulders with a plunging neckline and train to complete. Smokey eyes, a coral pink lipstick and a retro updo finished Carrie’s look.
Luke Bryan’s wifey Caroline Boyer looked stunning in a full colourful embellished mini. The tanned blonde rocked the summery dress with blue ‘Barely There’ sandals, a red clutch and tied her hair into a messy side bun. Luke Bryan later performed Crash My Party, which you can watch here.
Colombian songstress Shakira walked the red carpet wearing Julien MacDonald. Her intricately draped & paneled dress featured an hourglass illusion on the front whereas the sleeves and sides were more sheer, in a metallic blue hue. Black pumps and a sidesweep finished the super beautiful look.
Estelle also attended in Vegas, donning an orange & blue look by Izmaylova. Her dual paneled look featured a sheer plunging panel that was matched to blue satin pumps.
Jennifer Lopez stunned in a flowy red number by Donna Karan. The plunging sheer cape gown, which she wore with the runway’s bodysuit, was a stunning hue on the Latina singer, complete with a red waistbelt. JLo teamed her look with Jimmy Choo ‘Maury’ sandals and Marina B. jewellery and a voluminous hairband-like do, with bronze smokey eyes.
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea looked demure in her Zuhair Murad gown. The berry red halter gown featured a reverse plunging neckline with a flowing pleated skirt, and sheer embroidered lace bodice & sleeves. The interesting dress was teamed with her signature eyeliner and pink lipstick, and her super long blonde locks. Iggy later performed Fancy & Problem with Ariana Grande, which you can watch here.
Dencia was also in attendance wearing a a sheer red glitter embroidered gown, with a wide satin waistband and a long train. The upper half of the dress was sheer whereas the skirting featured a nude underlay. I do wish Dencia wore a nude bandeau instead of the very obvious black bra, as it didn’t look right with such a beautiful dress choice. A messy do and deep plum lipstick finished her look.
Pretty in Pink
Country superstar Miranda Lambert looked hot in pink donning a Georges Hobeika Signature mini. Her neon pink fitted dress featured a square plunging sheer panel to add sexiness to the otherwise cute mini, which Miranda wore with Saint Laurent heels, Vanessa Leu jewels and a Judith Leiber clutch to finish.
Shira Lazar opted for a salmon pink mini dress with a triangular cut out on the decolletage, for that subtle sexy vibe. She teamed the dress with taupe satin ankle strap heels, a selection of bracelets and a ruffled do. Short & sweet and perfect.
Similar to Shira, Elle Fowler wore a bright salmon pink Ted Baker dress (which I’ve tried on before in-store!),which was figure-hugging with an off-pink panel and capped shoulders to finish. The YouTube beauty vlogger styled the look with a BCBG by Max Azria statement necklace, Ted Baker mini handbag and heels by Pour la Victoire.
Although I’m not a personal fan of Cher Lloyd, her look to this year’s Billboard Music Awards was pretty darned beuatiful. The young bride wore a high neck lilac dress by Mikael D. that featured beaded floral embellishment, capped sleeves and visible black bodycon boning detailing. A chic updo, smokey cat eyes and a pink lipstick completed the look, along with her shiny butterfly peeptoe sandals.
Renee Bargh was easily one of the best dressed on the night, in her all white everything look from head to toe. The Australian TV presenter wore a bodice embellished halterneck playsuit with slight peplum detailing on the waist by Sass & Bide. Teaming the look with strappy laced up Jimmy Choo sandals, Renee added a deep red lipstick and a chic updo to finish. Just gorgeous!
Chrissy Teigen looked hot in her Fyodor Golan mini dress. The black & white little number was a satin cocktail dress that features a feather design and peplum waist detail, which she wore with Giuseppe Zanotti gold serpent peeptoes and Lorraine Schwartz cocktail rings. A full fringe and dead straight hair completed the model’s look. You may remember that Laura Whitmore wore the same dress to the 2013 MTV EMAs.
Lauren Elizabeth also donned a white look, wearing a textured cropped two-piece. The red carpet correspondent teamed the whiteness with black accessories and wavy hairdo. Simplistic and beautiful.
The men at the Billboards dressed pretty dapper too, most notably the Billboard’s host Ludacris in a navy & pink suit; Drake Bell who opted for a rockabilly look with his curled do, buttoned up polo & white jeans; Jason Derulo in a satin jacket, splattered tee and zip-detailed high tops; Nicky Young in a crispy white shirt & patterned jacket; and Luke Bryan rocked off-white suit very well.
