On Thursday evening the first ever iHeartRadio Music Awards took place in sunny Los Angeles, and the red carpet turn out was rather good. From my childhood favourite girl band member, Mel B, to the beloved girl-next-door singer Hilary Duff to my absolutely favourite Rihanna, there was fashion and then there was fashion. So let’s waste no more time and take a look at who made Killer Fashion’s best dressed list.
Black Beauties
Rihanna won big on the night, wearing a sexy black number by Givenchy Couture. Her sheer silk-tulle lace dress was styled with a heavy black leather jacket from the same collection, that features ribbed detailing on the arms, was also worn with a collection of silver beaded necklaces and large hoop earrings. Riri added to her goth-punk vibe with her quirky cool twisted hairdo and shimmery dark green lipstick! Rihanna also won Hip Hop/R&B Song Of The Year for “Pour It Up”, Best Fan Army for Rihanna Navy, Song Of The Year for “Stay” featuring Mikky Ekko and Artist Of The Year!
Ariana Grande performed at the awards show donning an LBD and white knee-high boots for her two performances of “The Way” and “Problem, (which you can watch here). Her sequin mini dress features large sequins around the hems and bust, which she teamed with knee-high white leather boots that matched her white manicure. She later covered up with a salt & pepper sweater, and also won the special iHeartRadio Young Influencer Award.
One of my favourite TV presenters, Giuliana Rancic, wore Lumier by Bariano ‘Impossible Promise Maxi Dress’. Her black midi dress featured nude sheer panels on the shoulders and waist, which worked brilliantly with her Christian Louboutin ‘Debout’ heels. She finished the look with an 18K gold plated Tom Tom ‘Interlock’ cuff bracelet, a side combed bob and dark eye makeup. Gorgeous!
My beloved Hilary Duff has made a comeback on the red carpet, and she looked gorgeous in her black Maria Lucia Hohan dress. Her long-sleeved minidress features gold embroidery detailing on the midriff, which really helped the dress stand out. Hilary wore Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, an orange lipstick & matching manicure and styled her hair into a chic voluminous bun.
Colombian singer Shakira looked lovely in a monochrome black & white ensemble by Azzedine Alaïa. Her two-piece features all-over cut out details on the black top and white flared skirt, which she wore with black satin Casadei strappy platform heels.
White Hot
Jennifer Lopez attended the show towards the end of the night, looking sexy in her white Zuhair Murad choice. The mini bodycon features beaded embellishment all over with cut out panels on the front and a high neck, which was perfectly teamed with Casadei ‘Blade’ white pumps, straight hair and dramatic eye makeup.
Actress Ashley Greene attended the show in a white graphic printed dress by Sass & Bide. Her mini dress featured with a black & gold swirling pattern and pleated peplum detail. She styled the look with gold strappy heels by Jimmy Choo.
Pia Toscano also wore white, donning an Iro Paris jumpsuit. Her crepe white-hot look looked wondrous against her tanned skin, styled with a metallic belt and black patent pumps, a messy fishtail plait and pink lipstick to finish.
Luke Bryan’s wife Caroline Bryan also donned a white jumpsuit, opting for Tamara Mellon. It featured a wide scooped neckline with an open back and pleated detail on the waist, pockets and low slits on the ankles, showing off her blue, green & black sandals that complimented her green necklace too.
A Pop of Colour
Professional dancer Karina Smirnoff attended the awards show wearing a navy jumpsuit, which was a lovely look on her. The v-cut neckline complimented the peplum detailing on the waist, which was accented by a crystal waistbelt. She added strappy platforms, red lipstick and a bright blue mani-pedicure. I love the minimalism of this look, it’s still a statement but isn’t over the top.
Newlywed Courtney Bingham-Sixx went all-out for her look, donning a pale pink & champagne gown designed by Alexander McQueen. Her ethereal gown features ruffled detailing on the main body with a high neck and cut out on the upper chest, and a fully lace skirting from the knees-down. The radio host held a red McQueen skull knuckle clutch and styled herself with an array of XIV Karats jewellery. Just gorgeous!
Spice Girl Mel B attended the awards in an orange & black ensemble by Roksanda Ilincic. Her jumpsuit featured a side knotted crop top with a flowing sash and tailored ankle grazing pants, showing off her Christian Louboutin ‘Debout’ heels. Mel B slicked her hair back, opting for barely-there makeup, a white manicure and a nude lip.
Selena Gomez presented on the night, and she stepped out in a dark red two-piece by Cushnie et Ochs. Her long-sleeved crop top also featured a keyhole detail that complimented the flash of her midriff above the flared skirt. She wore nude pointed pumps and also opted for barely-there makeup with a nude lipstick.
Katy Tiz was on-trend with the jacket-on-the-shoulders look, as she wore a ribbed red-hot dress with her white leather jacket, which was gold studded on the shoulders. She opted for a lot of spike-adorned accessories from her shoes to her clutch, finishing her look with red nails, a nude pink lipstick and a hair bun.
Finally, singer Mya headed out in head-to-toe nude, donning a plunging caped sleeveless blazer, along with an embellished skirt that features an arched high-low hemline both by Lumier by Bariano and pointed pumps. Her curly do and gorgeous smile finished the look perfectly.
The men on the night also rocked it up, with Jared Leto donning an interesting Ferragamo turquoise blazer worn over a printed Etro shirt & Skingraft skirt pants ensemble; Lil John in his psychedelic tie-dye t-shirt and colourful Nike high tops; singer Adam Lambert wore a Kris Can Assche green suit with a Saint Laurent black shirt & gold loafers by Versace; and Nashville actor/singer Sam Palladio looked hot in his all black everything leather jacket, spotted shirt and jeans ensemble.
