Best Dressed at MTV Movie Awards 2014

Last Sunday the MTV Movie Awards took place in Los Angeles. The sunny evening was filled with laughs and a lot of fierce fashion on the red carpet, which is always my favourite. Some of the biggest stars in the movie and music business stepped out in statement dresses, with big smiles and a lot of good-looking male arm candy. From the film industry’s IT girl, Lupita Nyong’o, to the reigning queen of pop, Rihanna, the red carpet was an amazing turn out. Take a look at Killer Fashion’s best dressed from this year’s MTV Movie Awards and let me know if you agree!

White Hot

London gal Ellie Goulding attended the awards looking white hot in Emporio Armani. Her sexy number featured cut outs on the waist, pockets, and an exaggerated A-line skirt with black straps at the back that she teamed with black Jimmy Choos and a silver cuff. Barely there makeup, pink lipgloss and tousled hair to finish. Just wow! Later Ellie changed into an Alon Livné gown for her performance of ‘Bleeding Heart’, which features a gold metal sculpted bodice and a flowing white overskirt with bangles by Giles & Brother.

My favourite superstar also walked the red carpet in white. Rihanna donned an Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2014 Couture look that’s straight from the runway. The silky beige satin sweetheart bodysuit was worn with a blush pink robe dress that featured voluminous sleeves and oversized bow ties on the cuffs. Riri teamed it with Manolo Blahnik nude sandals, Vieri and Ana Khouri jewellery, and tied her hair into a loose updo for the ultimate sexy finish.

Rocsi Diaz looked lovely in a white two-piece by Lovers + Friends X Monica Rose. The radio presenter’s crop top and A-line skirt were both laser cut patterned along the bottom hem, which looked great against her tanned skin, while also being very summer-forwards. Rocsi teamed the white look with nude pointed pumps and a gold bar cuff bracelet, adding pink lippy and a side sweep to complete.

Rita Volk opted for a black & white look. Her crepe embossed dress features black trims on the shoulders, waistband and skirt, which also features and asymmetrical overlay. She teamed her look with powder blue & black sandals, a black clutch and a bouffant ponytail.

Black Beauties

Hip hop artist and now actress Nicki Minaj turned heads in a figure-hugging black dress by Alexander McQueen. Her look was rather demure for Nicki, and I love it! The sheer spine paneled gown looked great, emphasizing Nicki’s hourglass figure, and was accessorized with a lot of gold jewellery by Midas and Alexander McQueen. She even kept her make up fresh-faced with a nude lip and cat eyes, and kept her natural black hair (wow!) sideswept. I do wish she’d have smiled more on the red carpet, but fashion wise this is fierce.

Rita Ora also wore a black dress, donning Barbara Casasola, which features a wide plunging neckline, padded shoulders and pockets on the hips. She wore a beautiful necklace by Jennifer Fisher and jewels by Lorraine Schwartz, red-hot lipstick and silvery eyeshadow that contrasted well with her voluminous blonde sideswept waves.

Disney actress Debby Ryan wore a black Rachel Zoe jumpsuit from the Pre-Fall 2014 Collection. Her accessories were right on point, being minimal and somehow matching her strawberry blonde hair, which came down around her face in soft waves.

Greer Grammer looked beautiful wearing a black cocktail dress, with sheer sleeves and embroidery on the bodice, decollatage, shoulders and cuffs, finishing with an embroidered light tulle skirt. She styled this look with gold peeptoes and a box clutch, and deep Hollywood waves, swept to the side.

Funny gal Leslie Mann wore a black & white polka dot by Juan Carlos Obando. Her summer monochrome look features a waterfall trim, a thigh high split and drawstrings on the waist. She teamed the look with orange strap sandals by Saint Laurent, minimal jewellery and her signature blonde locks.

Bold in Colour

A surprising pick for the list was Nicole Polizzi aka Snooki, who looked pretty pretty in a red floral print cocktail dress. Her sweetheart neckline dress was worn with nude strappy sandals and long drop earrings, which summed up the accessories. Nicole’s red tresses were left curly and sideswept with an orangey-red lipstick and dark eye makeup.

Jessica Alba looked as cute as can be at the awards. The actress wore a two-piece look from Piece d’Anarchive and Kenzo. Her white tube bandeau and lemon-yellow high-waisted skirt was bang on for the sunny evening, which she accessorized with geometric printed Jimmy Choo ‘Abel’ pumps, a black Narciso Rodriguez clutch and voluminous sideswept hair.

Christine Bentley wore an extremely figure-hugging Hervé Leger bandage gown with a round neckline, which looked brilliant on the actress. She opted for a red lip and cat eyeliner that worked brilliantly with her soft wind blown hair, which too was sideswept.

Young actress Shailene Woodley wore Balmain Pre-Fall 2014to the awards, donning an olive green leather ensemble, made up of a long sleeve front-knotted crop top and a high-waisted pleated skirt with a tribal-like waistband. She wore matching designer statement sandals, kept her do sleek & back and added a pink lipstick to finish.

Zendaya also made an appearance, donning a black & lime rose printed dress that had an oriental vibe to it. The actress’ Emanuel Ungaro creation featured a thigh-high split, with a large lime panel trim, which she teamed with spike embellished Christian Louboutin pumps, a Swarovski clutch and a selection of John Hardy rings.

Soft Pastels

Rachel Antonoff wore a very cute suit, donning a nude pants & jacket with a white shirt, and a matching nude coloured bow tie. The fashion designer paired Charlotte Olympia ‘Miranda’ platforms for a fresh finish, with a soft coral lip and dark eyes that complimented her blonde do.

Victoria Justice stepped out in lilac, a very appropriate colour for the season, in a mini by Atelier Versace Fall 2012. A customized version to its runway one, this little dress features lace up detail, glittery and spider web-like panels. Its flashes of flesh worked well for this look, which Victoria complimented wearing silver platforms by Brian Atwood, an Edie Parker box clutch and a baby pink lipstick with a sleek ponytail.

The men attending also were great looking on the carpet. Drake Bell looked pastel perfect in a sky blue suit, Max Carver wore a dapper three-piece suit & gold tie, Greg Sulkin looked hot in black leather, Michael B. Jordan opted for a grey three-piece suit, Jake Miller rocked a red blazer and Orlando Bloom chose to wear a dark ensemble picking up his award for Best Fight in The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.
