Following the previous post, another big show at LFW this week was Matthew Williamson’s show, which Jennifer Maguire of RTÉ 2FM’s Breakfast Republic (7-9am) reported as being one of the biggest on Monday. The print on print trend was very evident here and the collection also mixed trends beautifully. The show itself took place at the same time as the movie stars walked the red carpet at the BAFTAs, which was a cunning move by the British designer. Singer Ellie Goulding has already worn the designer’s look to last night’s ELLE Style Awards, and presenter Cat Deeley wore a dress to the collection’s after party!
The collection itself couldn’t be more different and yet similar to the Topshop Unique one, with its vast variety of printed pieces and bolder colours. The runway features 1960s style print, which was inspired by a Helmut Newton photograph, and mixes in fur & leather elements, and the models wore gorgeous colourful lace up boots. Black was a staple colour in the collection but red, yellow, purple & blue made huge appearances throughout. Some pieces were also adorned by jewels that really stood out.
