Best Dressed at Golden Globes 2014

Last night were the fabulous 71st Golden Globes, which were held in Beverly Hills, and I tell you; I was so excited to watch the show! All of my favourite stars came out, and some of them even won awards. But the red carpet is always my favourite moment, and last night’s ceremony was no exception with gowns, surprises and many of the trends hitting the scarlet red carpet.

The Funny Gal Pal Hosts

Funny gal pals Tina Fey & Amy Poehler hosted the Golden Globes. On the red carpet, Tina started out in a black & magenta floral print strapless gown by Carolina Herrera finished with a voluminous train. For the stage, Tina changed into a red v-cut über crystallized dress with a fully embellished back, later she then changed into a pink strapless gown, also by Carolina Herrera, with a wrap over on the bodice and train at the back, styled with a sparkling choker necklace by Cartier.

Amy Poehler started off the big evening in a black wrap over with keyhole cut out in middle by Stella McCartney, which was teamed with a black leather waistbelt. She worked this look with Karla Welch for Jacob & Co jewellery and Charlotte Olympia heels. Her first on-stage dress was a teal halter neck dress with embellished sides and straps; and later she changed into a black column dress with a peekaboo white trim on the inner neckline of the bodice. Amy also won Best Actress in TV Series – Comedy or Musical!

Black & White Delights

Hayden Panettiere wore Tom Ford to the awards. Her black & white halter neck color block dress has a thigh high split, which showed off her legs and black pointed heels. The recently engaged petite actress/singer slicked back her hair with dramatic eye make up to finish the look. I love Hayden and i really love this look, and I’m very happy she was nominated as for her role in ‘Nashville’.

Julia Roberts looked the business in her shirtdress look. Her Dolce & Gabbana ensemble featured a crisp white shirt under a black strapless bodice dress with a dazzling waistband. Her hair was tied into a bouffant updo, dark smokey eyes and nude lipstick completed her look.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum always looks so fab, and this red carpet choice was no exception. Her white & black Roberto Cavalli lace overlay dress features baroque embroidery on the bust & bodice, with criss cross lace along the sides which transpire into broken lines down the skirt & train. Mrs. Tatum wore red lipstick, large rectangular drop earrings and classy make up.

White & Wonderful

Margot Robbie was easily one of my best-dressed ladies. Just wow! Her white Gucci dress features a plunging neckline and thigh high split, with emerald green & silver bejeweled shoulder straps and waistband detailing. Amazing! A sleek updo, Van Cleef & Arpels vintage jewellery and Christian Louboutin ‘Volpi’ green satin peeptoe heels completed this gorgeous look.

Jennifer Lawrence opted for a white gown with two black bands on the waist & hips. Her Christian Dior look had a punk vibe; helped by her dark eye make up, her pixie short hair, Neil Lane jewellery, black Roger Vivier and dark red lipstick. I’m very happy to say that Jennifer also won Best Supporting Actress in Movie for ‘American Hustle’!

Zooey Deschanel wore a gold two-piece dress in the form of a crop top atop the skirt by Oscar de la Renta. Her sparkly ensemble was made up of pearls & crystals and a waterfall tulle skirting, all which were so elegant. Her updo was accessorized with rose hairpieces, and she finished her lovely look with an orangey-red lipstick, a daisy pearls manicure and vintage Neil Lane drop earrings.

Paula Patton went all out with creativity in a white oversized ruffle dress with full sleeves. She wore the Stephane Rolland Spring 2013 dress with silver & emerald green pavé bangles and drop earrings. She styled the loo with white satin heels by Charlotte Olympia, a slicked back hair and dark eye make up.

Naomi Watts shone in a shimmery sequin silver dress with sheer mesh panels by Tom Ford. The gold & silver pavé neckpiece, gold snake wrap-around bangle and gold clutch, which were all Bvlgari, really layered on the bling.

Back to Black

Jessica Chastain donned Givenchy and gave us va va voom. Her black lace embroidered dress seems to be a pair of wings on the sides of her silhouette LBD with a sweetheart neckline that showed off her two-chained diamond necklace by Bvlgari. She brushed back her red hair, kept her make up fresh and added a slight pink lipstick to complete.

Sofia Vergara always stuns, and her black deep sweetheart neckline was every kind of va va voom. The Colombian actress’ Zac Posen &gown had a deep voluminous skirt, which she styled with Brian Atwood heels and a sky blue statement necklace Lorraine Schwartz.

Leslie Mann looked truly beautiful in a black lace mermaid gown. Her Dolce & Gabbana dress features a scalloped neckline was teamed with Jimmy Choo shoes, a gold Bottega Veneta clutch and Neil Lane jewellery. Leslie finished the look with red lipstick and straight sideswept hair. Gorgeous!

Cate Blanchett repped the elder beauties in this intricate lace dress with no-back capped sleeves, a high neck and gems that the Armani Privé dress shimmer. Chopard jewellery and berry pink lipstick finished her look. Cate also won Best Actress in Motion Picture – Drama for ‘Blue Jasmine’.

Berry Babes

Lupita Nyong’o was the topic of many talks these past couple of days. The nominated ’12 Years A Slave’ actress made her red carpet debut in a red cape dress by Ralph Lauren. Her statement column dress was a perfect shape for her petite body and perfect shade against her dark complexion, which she accessorized with minimal sparkly jewellery by Fred Leighton. She opted for a nude manicure, shimmery eye make up and dark red lipgloss to finish.

E! Red Carpet reporter and presenter, Giuliani Rancic, wore a gorgeous red dress by Lorena Sarbu. Her dress features sequin floral motifs and sheer paneling along the top with a sweetheart neckline. G teamed this dress with extremely expensive jewellery: $1.8million diamond ring and $3million earrings both by Forever Mark! She kept her hair simple with a beautifully brushed bob and Christian Louboutin ‘Highness Patent’ peeptoe heels.

Amy Adams looked amazing wearing Valentino Shanghai. Her plunging red colour block dress was worn with a matching cape, (though she took it off early on as it was very warm in Beverly Hills.) She accessorized with a long beaded chain pendant necklace, rings and earrings all by Lorraine Schwartz, and Brian Atwood ‘Tribeca’ platform sandals, with a twisted updo bun. Amy also won Best Actress Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for ‘American Hustle’!

One of the only musicians to attend the ceremony, Taylor Swift donned a cherry pink & black Carolina Herrera gown. The nominated singer’s dress featured a sweetheart neckline on the black bandeau with a full, voluminous skirt. She teamed her gown with Lorraine Schwartz matching pink & silver rings. Taylor finished with a curled updo and her signature eyeliner & red lipstick.

Emma Watson surprised us in an orangey-red Christian Dior Couture dress. Her middle split pleated dress with half-sleeves was simplistic at the front, but had serious wow factor at the back: there was no back except for a wrap over, revealing only black tapered pants! She wore navy sandals by Roger Vivier and Dior earrings with this look, along with a sleek curled up hair, pink lipstick and eyeliner. Such a great look!

Elisabeth Moss was a double nominee on the night, and stood out from the gowns in her black & red sequin full length J. Mendel dress. Its inverted v-cut skirt showed off her Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ heels. Her triangle drop earrings were by Jennifer Meyer Jewellery, which complimented the design in the dress. Elisabeth also won Best Actress in Mini Series/TV Movie for ‘Top of the Lake’.

Sarah Hyland looked pretty in candyfloss pink, in a dress by Georges Hobeika Fall Couture 2013, which she revealed was sent all the way from Paris! Her lovely dress features a mesh back with all-over glittering gems. Sarah’s hairstyle was “Valentino runway inspired”, and teamed with neutral make up, which really showed off her young age. She finished the look with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery, a nude manicure and Rupert Sanderson ‘Rosanna’ sandals.

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting also attended, wearing a sweetheart neckline Rani Zakhem Couture dress. Ivy Jewellery and Jimmy Choo heels accessorized her dark floral print gown with corset detailing. Kaley wore green eyeshadow to match the dress and straight sideswept hair.

Fruity & Fresh

Amber Heard graced the red carpet in a stunning midnight blue dress by Versace Atelier. The gathered detailing on the dress added to the sexiness, which was accented by Amber’s super thigh high split. She finished her look with Jimmy Choo ‘Kalpa’ sandals to match, with a quiff updo and nude lipstick.

Mother-to-be Olivia Wilde stunned in a green shimmering all-over embellished dress by Gucci. Her emerald green v-cut open back dress was a long sleeve number, which was teamed with sideswept hair, smokey eyes, Charlotte Olympia ‘Daphne’ heels and a Rodo clutch.

Melissa Rauch joined her ‘The Big Bang Theory’ costars in a canary yellow dress with gathering detail on the bus and hips. The Romona Keveza silhouette dress shows off her gorgeous hourglass shape, accented by draped off-the-shoulder straps and a train. She wore an updo with natural make up, and added DeMarco drop earrings, rings by Dove and Norman Silverman, Stuart Weitzman heels and an Amanda Pearl clutch to finish.

Sandra Bullock also wowed, wearing a pink, blue & black plunging silk dress by Prabal Gurung. The colourful number was worn with black ankle strap heels and styled with a sleek ponytail and a dark pink lipstick. Gorgeous!
