There were some fabulous and some not-so-fabulous blue carpet choices on Sunday, for the Billboard Awards 2013, held in Las Vegas at the iconic MGM Grand. The American music awards were full of never-to-forget performances, well deserved award recipients, drama and even a bit of booing an award recipient. But it’s all about the stars and what the beautiful ladies wore on that blue carpet.
Statement Starlets
Miley Cyrus was by far the best dressed on the night. The pop starlet wore an amazing jumpsuit by Balmain Spring Summer 2013. The jumpsuit is made up of crochet and sequins, with a checkered pattern along the inner legs and chest area, and the overall lining of the jumpsuit creates a sexy silhouette illusion. An exposed long back zip to finish, the back also features only black paneled checkers. Miley tamed the look with minimal accessories, wearing a gold and silver dusted chain bracelet, stud earrings and her gorgeous Neil Lane engagement ring, with a gold glitter manicure. Miley finished her look with black satin heels, red lipstick, smokey eye make up, and a throw-up quiff. Gorgeous! Miley also attended the Billboards to announce her new single We Can’t Stop to be released June 3rd!
Taylor Swift dazzled in blue on blue, wearing Zuhair Murad Pre Fall 2013 RTW. Her royal blue long sleeved fully beaded dress also features a sheer back and cuts off at the thigh. The dress looked fabulous, and Taylor elongated her already long legs with Jimmy Choo ‘Suki’ leather cross strap sandals in metallic grey, a silver & blue cylinder-shaped ring that spanned three fingers and dark grey gem drop earrings. Pink lipstick, a wrap around ponytail and dramatic black eye make up finished off her look. Later Taylor performed her song 22 (which you can watch here), and she changed into a Junk Food ‘Haters Gonna Hate’ Unicorn tshirt in turquoise with black high-waisted denim shorts, Deena & Ozzy ‘Electro’ Oxford shoes that have an iridescent finish. Taylor also won eight awards on the night: Top Artist, Female Artist, Billboard 200 Artist, Digital Songs Artist, Country Artist, her album “Red” also won awards for Top Billboard 200 Album & Top Country Album, and her song We Are Never Ever Getting Back was also awarded Top Country Song.
Nicki Minaj showed off her First Lady of hip hop status in a rouched red gown with beaded detail. Her flowy red dress was a major hit, among the many white & black dresses, and with her perfectly frizzed blonde afro and winged eyeliner, Nicki absolutely worked the look. Red platform peeptoes, either Giuseppe Zanotti or Nicholas Kirkwood, finished off her blue carpet look. Nicki also won Top Rap Artist, Top Streaming Artist and Top Rap Album for “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded”. Nicki later changed into a sexy black outfit for her performance of High School with Lil Wayne (which you can watch here).
Black Beauties
Actress and presenter on the night Emmy Rossum also wore Zuhair Murad, but from the Fall 2013. Her black floor length dress features sheer panels with polka dots on the inner arms and sides, outer legs and the back. The polka dot tulle also features over the black mermaid skirting and a keyhole feature. She styled her classic look with an updo, fresh make up, a nude coloured manicure and pendant earrings.
Jennifer Morrison brought sexy to the blue carpet in this Kristian Aadnevik Fall 2013 black number. The bustier bodysuit features embroidery and sheer panels, and is finished off with a sheer silk chiffon black floor-length skirt, to create a somewhat risqué gown. Jennifer’s long blonde locks helped cover up her upper body, and she teamed the gown with an Edie Parker ‘Edie’ lacquered confetti oval box clutch. Some say too revealing, I say work it girl! Funnily enough Selena Gomez wore this gown in her music video “Come & Get It”.
Nashville actress Hayden Panettiere was also in attendance for the Billboards. I love Hayden, she always brings a smile to any event. She wore a Halston Heritage Spring 2013 backless black halter gown, with tiered ruffle detailing on the front. Hayden styled her dress with David Yurman jewellery, Giuseppe Zannoti ‘Freida’ heels and a gold Jimmy Choo ‘Cosma’ cylindracial clutch. Hayden spiced up her look with green shaded eye make up and sideswept hair, which showed off her pearl inserts. She looked radiant at the event.
Silver & Gold
Shania Twain looked wonderful Pavoni by Mikael D. Her Grecian style strapless pale grey silk gown features a sweetheart neckline, gathered detail and a sweeping train. The country singer wore her hair down, in loose voluminous locks and dazzled with diamond encrusted cuffs on both wrists, a large silver ring, camel-coloured glitter lined platforms and a matching box clutch.
Singer Kelly Rowland also brought out the stops in a Rami Al Ali Spring 2013 Couture gown. Her wide v-neck dress with a middle thigh high split features amazing allover iridescent scales in blue silver hues. The colour looked beautiful against Kelly’s chocolate skintone, which she teamed with silver bangles, diamond rings and a silver body chain. Matching silver iridescent sandals, a full fringe & updo, smokey eyes and pink lippy to finish the look. Red lipstick would have looked better with her red and grey mani-pedicure, but Kelly’s smile makes up for it.
Selena Gomez was very young & trendy on the night, sporting a white neon number by Atelier Versace Spring 2013. The singer’s dress features different coloured neon piping on the arms, back and neck, all which are also finished off with zip lining. The cut out back does have a nude panel and the dress also features a thigh high split on the right, showing off the Jimmy Choo ‘Malin’ strappy sandals she wore. Winged eyeliner and a wrap around ponytail, like BFF Taylor Swift, finished Selena’s blue carpet look. For her performance of Come & Get It (which you can watch here), Selena changed into a gold metal number. The gold gown featured a bodysuit and overdress split into sides for movement, finished with a metallic bustier atop the dress for an edgy look. Later introducing her BFF, Selena wore a Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 gown; black with sheer panels on the midriff and arms and a gold square paneled waistbelt.
Singer, actress and performer on the night, Jennifer Lopez wore Zuhair Murad Spring Couture 2013. JLo stunned in a golden, plunge gown in gold; it featured gold sequin leaves from the halter down to the thigh, where the leaves began to break up on the sheer skirt. JLo teamed the couture gown with gold & clear Christian Louboutin ‘Bis Un Bout’ pumps and a gold box clutch. Her hair was less exciting though.. Later JLo performed Live It Up with Pitbull (which you can watch here), changing into a very red Vegas-esque attire. Wearing a red fully sequined bodysuit with fully red-feathered arms, which she teamed it with over-the-knee red leather Christian Louboutin ‘Metropolis’ boots. Not the greatest on-stage look…
