Best Dressed at the Oscars 2013

Metallic Sparkles

Naomi Watts, who was nominated for Best Actress in Leading Role for ‘The Impossible’, wearing an Armani Privé gown. The dress was a fully sequin and beaded in silver grey hues. The wow factor about this dress was its asymmetrical strap and cut out feature, with the right capped sleeve. Naomi looked wonderful in this look, finishing with a messy updo and drop earrings.

Naomi’s good friend, actress Nicole Kidman, was also full of sparkle, also wearing a fully sequined L’wren Scott black and gold silhouette dress. Her dress features intricate gold sequin ornate swirls on the lower skirt & train. Nicole teamed her statement dress with an updo and wavy bangs, gold cuff bracelet and Fred Leighton gold drop earrings.

Attending as one of the Bond Girls, Halle Berry wore custom Atelier Versace, which was also Bond girl-inspired. The black and silver beaded dress had an 80s vibe with the squared capped shoulders, a v-cut plunge and center split at the back. The geometric lines in the dress helped accentuate Halle’s amazing body. She teamed this dress with black drop earrings and a multiband ring.

A huge surprise on the night was the appearance of America’s First Lady, Michelle Obama, who presented Best Picture from The White House via videofeed. The First Lady wore a custom Naeem Khan fully beaded gown. Her squared neckline and charcoal palette beaded dress had an art-deco design with sheer tulle panelling. She kept her hair fuss free, an updo with full fringe, and diamond-shaped drop earrings. Best Picture was awarded to ‘Argo’.

Perfect Performers

Oscar-winning actress and singer, Jennifer Hudson attended the Oscars in a beautiful Roberto Cavalli Couture gown. She wore a midnight blue full-sleeved and full-length lace gown, with animal print-like sequins overall. Her intricately designed dress featured a thigh-high center split, which showed off her Giuseppi Zanotti metallic snakeprint and crystallized heel peep toe shoes, in a contrasting ice blue hue. She wore blue & green drop earrings, kept her hair straight with full fringe. Jennifer later changed into another dress for her performance of “And I Am Telling You, I’m Not Going” from Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning Dreamgirls during the tribute to musicals number in the show. She changed into a Kaufman Franco charcoal grey dress, with a plunged neckline and crystal encrusted linear columns. She switched her blue & green for purple gold drop earrings and added some waves into her hair.

Catherine Zeta-Jones graced the Oscars red carpet and the performance stage, wearing an amazingly sequin and bead embellished mermaid gown by Zuhair Murad. The gold and champagne dress was completely embellished from bust to hip, where the lower half was less detailed but with spiral designs instead, which created a perfect harmony within the dress. Catherine kept it clean with fresh make up, gentle waves and gold drop chandelier earrings. She changed into costume for her performance of “All That Jazz” from Oscar-winning Chicago.
