Irish Fashion at the IFTAs 2013

Continuing with the wondrous fashion of Saturday night’s IFTAs, hosted at the Convention Centre, Dublin. There was a good bit of support for Irish designers, and also great use of The Ivory Closet, a dress hire store, based in Limerick but can also be contacted online. Designer Rachel Gilbert and jewellery brand Bellerina are among the popular choices.10th Anniversary of the Annual Irish Film & Television Awards

Lady In Red

My favourite female comedienne, Jennifer Maguire, looked fab on Saturday. Also wearing Marion Murphy-Cooney, she wore a full-length, full-sleeved red dress. The dress features a scooped neckline, an open back and sheer laced sleeves with a full lace body. Vampy make up and side-sweeped hair finished Jen’s sexy look.

Award-winning presenter Lucy Kennedy also looked delightful in a red dress on a red carpet. Wearing Rachel Gilbert from The Ivory Closet, this strapless a-line dress was occasion-appropriate, and even features a slight mermaid tail finish. I do wish Lucy and her stylist had added a contrasting waist belt as I feel it just lacks in the middle. Her cute and choppy hairstyle and black accessories finished this look.

Pretty in Purple

Wife of Dáithí Ó Sé, Rita Talty, was all smiles and beautiful in her purple outfit. She wore a purple spring number, with a keyhole feature and an embellished waist belt and slight train. Her updo and diamond accessories gave her an aura of Hollywood glam, which she finished with a dapper looking bow-tie and suited up Dáithí Ó Sé.

Caroline Morahan opted for a sexy velvet number. Her deep purple gown had a deep sweetheart cut, which draped down into a slight train. She wore a large gemstone necklace in similar hues, a slicked back updo and red lipstick. The dress material added the extra oomph the Irish actress desired.

Silver and Gold

Sineád Kennedy proved she knows a thing or two about fashion as the Two Tube and Big Money Game TV presenter dazzled in a sequin gúna, Charley Gown by Rachel Gilbert at The Ivory Closet.  The upper half was a fully sequined piece in silver, whereas the lower half bore more silver sequined vertical lines, all under a nude mesh. Sineád finished her old Hollywood glam look with pin-up waves, nude peep-toe heels and Bordeaux lipstick and nails to match.

Attending with nominee and IFTA winner Jack Reynor, Madeline Mulqueen stunned in a white and silver full-length gown. The model and actress wore also wore Rachel Gilbert at The Ivory Closet, opting for the Isabey Gown which features a white and silver glitter formation on the bodice, upper white mesh with a middle bar and a floor touching soft pleated skirt. A voluminous updo and fresh make up finished her look.

Xposé presenter Lorraine Keane proved her fashion knowledge as all eyes were on her white and gold dress on the red carpet. The and IFTA nominated broadcaster and journalist wore a deep v-cut gown with intricately gold leaf appliqué sleeves. The appliqué continues around the bust and ends on the waist with the skirt having a slight train. Lorraine wore her hair down, side sweeped with gold fringed earrings, black eye make up and nude lips. She was all smiles as she was beautiful.

Lastly, Mairéad Ní Chuaig wore a wonderful silk gown in a champagne shade. The crystal embellished straps added some serious glam to her look, which she teamed with a soft quiff and straight hair, diamond drop earrings and a knuckle-clutch in silver. Mairead kept her make up on the classic side, with black smokey eye and a nude lipstick.
