On Saturday 9th February we celebrated the Irish talents in both film and television, at the 10th anniversary of the IFTAs, 2013. A great night for actors, writers, directors, producers and productions in all categories. But the female fashion was very strong, with a lot of black numbers popping up everywhere. Here are my favourite picks from our Irish beauties.

Beautiful in Black
Velvet was very popular among the fashion. My friend, presenter Kathryn Thomas wore a stunning full-length velvet gown by Theia Couture. The gown features gold and black appliqué panels that cover the upper chest, capped sleeves and neck. Smokey make up, a sleek updo and a black cuff bracelet finished her look.
Actress Aoibheann McCaul was definitely a winner on the red carpet for me. She looked a million dollars in a strapless velvet gown by Dawn Fitzgerald with a tutu-like peplum feature. She finished her outfit with a dazzling statement necklace from my beloved Knightsbridge Boutique and a high quiff updo. Perfection itself!
Irish presenter Maura Derrane took to the black dress too, with a one-sleeve cut-out dress with a mermaid tail finish. Her styling and sparkling accessroies were on point, though I’m not too sure about her hairstyle. The dress was quite interesting with a good few different features all in the one gown.
Former Six band member and current TV presenter and personality Emma O’Driscoll looked very Hollywood-esque in a black open back lace number with feathered capped sleeves. Supporting Irish designers, wearing a Marion Murphy-Cooney dress. Her make up and updo added a fresh look to her dark accessorized outfit. But I still really like this!
Rosanna Davison worked her model magic in this velvet dress. It features a v-cut with leaf bows on the sleeves. Rosanna sizzled with diamond accessories, black eyeliner and a chic updo with bangs.
Next is Amanda Byram who looked lovely in Everly by Rachel Gilbert at The Ivory Closet, a full sequin dress with a simple v-cut with a white satin waist belt. Her drop earrings added to the glam look, along with her gold blush embellished tassel clutch, and her Hollywood side soft waves hairstyle.
And last, but certainly not least, is the beautiful Michelle Keegan who wore a stunning lace sleeve full gown. A figure-hugging gown that really complimented her body, with sheer lace sleeves. The Coronation Street actress styled her hair up with minimal jewellery to keep the focus on her dress.
Bold in Blue
Charlie Murphy kicked things off in this amazing blue number. A bust embellished, with sheer appliqué along the neck and sleeves, all in a sapphire blue shade. Charlie teamed her dress with a darker shade box clutch and a simple stone ring, and fresh-look make up and hair.
A woman of many talents, Jenny Buckley showed off her style in a beautiful midnight blue dress. It features a black leather waist belt and a neck-to-bust inset with semi dramatic curls. A relaxed curly hairdo and minimal accessories finished the look.
Miriam O’Callaghan looked great in a bright turquoise floral lace print dress. She also wore Tipperary designer Marion Murphy-Cooney to this year’s IFTAs. The bright dress stood out on the red carpet, with her blonde locks framing the Irish presenter’s face. The dress was figure-hugging with a slight v-cut and was age appropriate, even making her seem younger.
Part II coming soon..
